I recently purchased the mudtalons, so have only used them for a 10k so far. I ran on wet, muddy, boggy paths on slopes and a lot of standing water and these stood up well, didn't slip once, even up the hills. Also comfortable on the harder trail surface and fine for the few hundred meters I was on concrete My first Inov8s and will certainly be looking to order more from them in the future.

The shoes feel grippy, well cushioned and supportive. However the sizing comes up small (hence the 3 stars). They are definitely half size smaller than all my other shoes, even older Inovs. Had to return so can't comment what they are like outside of the house.

Probably great shoe but not for me! I've purchased dozens of INOV8's and have not had this fit problem before. I ordered the wide version and these shoes are sooo tight. Not even widthwise but depthwise??? It's like the shoe is so shallow my foot is uncomfortably tight (top to bottom, not side to side) despite being long enough. Also feels like my heel slips out the back for the same reason. I have never rated an INOV8 shoe poorly and wouldn't have now if it was merely an issue of the shoe not being wide enough for my feet (my fault), but this has to be a design issue as most people have way "thicker" feet than my flat feet. Unfortunately had to return them and was so disappointed because if they had fit, they had promise to be the ultimate winter/snow running shoe. They are so grippy. No other shoe company can compare with the grip, but I find myself having to go to Altras to fit my feet.

Got in the sale so excellent price. Good fit and really comfy straight out of the box. Wide toe box which is what I need. Super grip and felt confident running downhill on a muddy, grassy hill.

*UPDATE* - see previous comment below: I’ve resorted to removing the boomerang insoles. This has drastically improved the depth in the heel and thus reduced the heel slip. Still comfortable, not fully resolved the issue and not the best approach to running in a shoe without any insole but the heel cup is just too shallow. I love the look of this shoe. Straight of the box it fits my foot perfectly. I went up 1/2 size. The shoe comfortably handled thick mud, sticky mud, puddles, gravel, mud on cambers. My biggest issue is the lack of depth on the heel cup. My heel was slipping on the first mile of the run requiring continuous adjustments with lacing. I just can’t seem to get the right heel lock without over tightening the laces. I’m hoping this is a teething issue.

Had high hopes for the shoe but it isn’t quite right, I have no idea how a shoe like this gets past product testing initially. I fell run in the Lake District so it’s pretty much getting used on what it’s designed for. Negatives: 1) Toe box height at sides too low, weird because I have the wides and the actual width is right but not enough volume vertically 2) Stack heigh/ drop is too much for a fell running shoe designed for slop, feels very wobbly on steep descents 3) Foam too soft, significant movement under heel when descending hard surfaces 4) Heel lockdown is horrendous, heel feels like it’s floating about, shoe came off three times during long muddy fell run Positives: 1) Wide 2) Strong upper material 3) Excellent mud grip especially when descending

Finally managed to get hold of some wide fitting deep lug INOV8s for muddy conditions (it hasn't been easy - I've used RocLites up to now, which fit better, but lack the ultimate grip in serious mud). Ran once with the MudTalons yesterday and liked them. Good fit and surprisingly well cushioned (INOV8s always seem to be). Did really cake up with mud running across a freshly ploughed clay soil field after the frost had melted (but no shoe has ever passed that test yet). Did shed the mud once I got back on grass.

They fit slightly tight over the top of the foot at bottom lace. I got the wide version. They collect mud and get heavy during runs in the park when it is wet. I have never found a deep tread shoe that this Texas black gumbo does not stick to and these are no exception. They are fine and fast walking to the park on the concrete. Good for running on the grass with a flat footed landing. Heel or forefoot landings on the grass are like putting the brakes on so someone could probably play flag football in them if they were so inclined. Good shoe for the sale price. Have not had them long enough to rate the quality.

I’ve waited until I’ve worn these a time or two before posting this. I like the shoe. It’s light and although not a neat as some of the previous range, it’s not like wearing stilts. The materials look like they will do reasonable mileage through boggy Heather and the sole is good. The fit is why 4 for me. The toe box is good and wide, but they are a bit tight across the foot behind the toes and before the instep. Another set of lace holes going downwards would allow for adjustment here, but as it is, they are a bit tight at that point for my barge feet. It’s a shame, because otherwise they would have been a high five!

Early days in terms of longevity review, but having had Ultra Talons before, for me these are a step up. As a c90kg runner, and a Plantar F chronic issue, these are really comfortable of longer stuff. Used over weekend for part of a muddy as hell, wet as hell 100mile race attempt throughout Storm Bert, mixed grass, off camber muddy single track, deep mud woodland, some tarmac and 1,000s of steps , these were a delight to have on the feet. Excellent grip, lugs weren't a problem on then tarmac at all. New boomerang footbed better than previous version.

A bit pinchy on the upper, but light, grippy and comfortable

Width ok at the toe but too narrow in the midfoot which is uncomfortable even with different lacing. Too wide at the heel, which makes it unstable on rough ground. Grip is excellent of course, and thick midsole adds comfort. The upper is quite stiff but hopefully this will soften in time. Update 1/12/24: changing lacing to miss 2-3 instead of 3-4, plus a few more miles, solved the comfort issue. Heel lock lacing prevents vertical heel movement but nothing stops lateral movement from loose heel cup. No issues with blisters, just stability

Bought the shoe size 9.5 wide ans it didn't fit. Went up a size to 10 and it didn't fit. The length was good but the shoe lacked material to wrap around my foot so felt too tight across the start of my toes which would have worn and injured the top of my foot. The speed of service was great. The quality of the shoe looked great but it felt as though they had skimped on materials.

initially I was disappointed because when I compare them to my other pairs of Inov8 trainers [8 and counting! ....including my now worn down Mudclaws] I experienced some heel lift I am pleased to report that with the help of a running pal, this has been solved by using a "runner's loop" to tie the laces
