Dismissal by libelous clinic manager

I was recently dismissed from my PCP's clinic in Denver allegedly for "verbal abuse" and "physical intimidation" of staff while he was on leave. I'm in the middle of a 5 years delayed rare cancer diagnosis, have no access to him, he was not consulted, and I desperately need him to write a letter for my SSI hearing in Sept. since no other doctor really knows me.

The clinic manager (Jamie Brave) is a dictator and to be frank, just not very good at her job. She has a personal grudge against me bc I said something negative about an NP not even employed there to my doctor in a private message. She said I could never write anything negative about any healthcare worker anywhere ever again.

She also decided I was sending too many MyChart messages while in the middle of a cancer diagnosis and told me she had made a "verbal contract" that I could no longer message my doctor through MyChart (she left me a VM after I specifically said not to do that on their intake paperwork). He was the one who had been telling me to keep him updated after appts.

I'm really not even trying to be rude here but I have complex, rare problems (I also have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) and most of the MAs have poor reading comprehension, which resulted in a lot of back and forth but that's not my fault and I tried to be polite about pointing out they'd misunderstood my questions or what information I needed passed on.

I told her it was impossible that we had any such verbal contract since I'd never spoken to her and there was no other contract either since I'd never signed anything and I'd continue to message my doctor as needed until he told me himself not to. She tried to get me dismissed then and he admitted she was furious and all the MAs hated me when patient relations didn't do it for her.

A few weeks ago I called the clinic in excruciating pain, 9/10, and asked if someone could please give me a prescription for Toradol, which is like stronger ibuprofen and absolutely no one abuses it. I told the woman I was speaking to that I realized I was speaking loudly but wasn't trying to be disrespectful, I was just in a lot of pain and having trouble regulating my tone of voice. She said she understood and not to worry. The doctor told her to tell me to go to the ER if I was in that much pain and I told the MA that the doctor was useless.

That's the only possible thing I can think of that could be considered verbal abuse but it was said about her, not to her, and there was no reason she needed to be told I'd said it. Plus, again, I was in excruciating pain and have documented PTSD from 5 years of malpractice.

As for the "physical intimidation", this is libel, plain and simple, and definitely damages my reputation and is in my medical record. The legal definition involves using one's body to intimidate which is literally impossible over the phone and no details such as date, names, location, alleged threats or intimidating gestures, or time were given. I'm 130lbs and disabled, I'm not very intimidating in person either. I also believe they're retaliating for leaving a negative review of another doctor.

This has all been incredibly emotionally traumatic during an already extremely stressful time. At this point it's hard to know if the cancer has spread or not and certain blood markers are showing there's a good chance it has. I don't have time to be twiddling my thumbs.

If there were any truth to me being abusive and intimidating I don't think they'd just give me an appt in another one of their clinics that's inconvenient for me to get to. I also believe security would be called if I'd physically intimidated anyone but it's hard to do that through the phone.

So to sum up:

*The clinic manager personally hates me and I admittedly have to send more messages than average since I'm a complex patient, but my doctor has asked me to update him on specialist appts.

*I raised my voice in extreme pain and it's being called verbal abuse. I didn't insult, use profanity, or threaten her in any way, shape, or fashion.

*I'm being accused of physical intimidation despite there being no details and I was never even physically there.

*I now have no doctor in the middle of trying to get a cancerous adrenal gland removed, disability benefits approved, I'm at the very tip of my rope, and it can take months for a Medicaid patient to get a new appt with a doctor who actually went to medical school and I definitely need one who did well.

*It's defamation to claim I physically intimidated anyone, it's just a completely made up lie to make me look bad and have an excuse to kick me out and lawyers won't take small cases like this.

*I'm supposedly abusive and intimidating but it's ok to give me an appt in another one of their clinics 5 miles away with no car and terrible transportation here? Seems like it would be better to keep me with the doctor we know isn't afraid of me.

Horrible place. Avoid at all costs

Horrible place! They killed my Mom. She had a heart attack on a Friday and they had no cardiologist available until the Monday afternoon after. They stole the down comforter we brought for her room along with other personal possessions of hers. Her physician requested a different hospital but her insurance company (through Teton county Wyoming ) would only pay for her surgery to be done there.

If I could give negative stars to…

If I could give negative stars to Intermountain Healthcare as a whole, I definitely would! Starting with how the doctors / nursing staff do NOT properly explain insurance coding to patients when requesting certain tests (including OVER CHARGED blood work – over $250 for simple blood tests that Lab Corp with same tests properly charges insurance & is less than $75) and coding all tests as diagnostic vs routine/preventative, as to assure that the insurance company (Blue Cross Blue Shield) will NOT cover and overly charge the patient. Secondly, try for close to a year to get coding audits done on the blood work & other tests and get the run-around, with ZERO assistance to get the coding properly resolved! Lastly, the Financial Assistance Department for Intermountain Healthcare is either a Scam or Fraud – cannot reach a person when calling and when filling out the proper paperwork and sending it in via e-mail, only to get AI generated e-mail replies for over two months! Intermountain Healthcare is a Private / non-profit organization, but they definitely want to profit from patients for poorly coded over-priced tests and zero assistance. I would NOT recommend Intermountain Healthcare – dealing with them, one can see why no one trusts the Health Care Industry!

Billing Services

After calling the billing service number i got the help I needed for the payments. The manager on hand Anthony helped with the claims made and fixed them with the assistance of his coworker. Together they helped fix the claim I was struggling with and helped explain other options like financial aid from the hospital. The problem was resolved quick and efficient.

Labs coded as "Outpatient Procedure", are not covered by Insurance

I have had bloodwork done at several different places, including hospitals, and I have never had to pay more than a co-pay for having this done, and my insurance has also always covered labs. I had labs done at a doctor's office, and the bloodwork was sent to an IHC lab for processing. I am convinced that IHC has come up with a new "scam" to work around their contract with insurance providers, and put more $$$ in their pockets by passing the cost along to the patient when insurance denies covering this service and attaches it to your deductible. They are billing the lab work as an "outpatient service", because "you are not staying overnight", so "technically" this is correct. I had several rounds of discussions with my doctor, the IHC hospital where the labs were processed, and my insurance provider. My insurance said that they had never seen blood draws/labs not be covered, and to request a code review. I was told that the coding was correct, and that they would not change it, as it was "techanically" correct, as all procedures not requiring an overnight stay are "outpatient procedures". I will definitely make sure to get any future lab work done elsewhere, as it is not in my budget to pay $500 for labs.

HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE

HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE. If you want to be put on the back burner and completely forgotten about for 7.5 hours in a 4x6 room, come to Intermountain Health Care Riverton/Herriman Emergency Room.

They will have to surgically remove the chair from my ass for how long i’ve been sitting here doing absolutely nothing, hearing absolutely nothing from anyone.

You’d think they have only have 1 ultrasound machine in the entire state of Utah with how long this place takes for such a simple test.

I’m beyond upset, infuriated to put it plainly. This was the worst show of professional medical care I’ve ever seen in my life.

Terrible hospital. Forgetful healthcare workers. The only positive side is it’s clean, as should EVERY hospital be.

7.5 hours later, my wife is still in pain, i’m fighting sleep from the chair, and we are not one inch closer to getting the hell out of this place.

* AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO FEEL BETTER.

* AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO GET HOME THE SAME DAY.

* AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SANITY.

* AVOID INTERMOUNTAIN HEALTHCARE E.R. (RIVERTON) AT ALL COSTS.

Unprofessional and Incompetent

Waited over two months for an appointment with an NP at the Green Mountain clinic in Lakewood Colorado. Expressed that I was out of allergy meds and asked if they could please call if they had any cancellations for a morning appointment. Ended up going on the date of my appointment (5/1/25) only to find out they had a power outage. And as a bonus, I was treated very poorly by their front desk staff when I said how disappointed I was to wait over two months for a canceled appointment. Also, it would have been nice to have been called and told that my appointment was canceled before I left my house but that takes too much common sense which they clearly lack. They called later in the day and tried to get me to come in, so I had to explain that this was a "fasting" appointment due to bloodwork and that I had eaten food. Then they wanted me to come in the end of the following week in the afternoon (they somehow don't understand that a fasting appointment needs to happen in the morning). This is yet another corporate entity that employs incompetent people and does not care about human beings. I will take care of my own health from now on. Doctors aren't what they used to be and you will only get sicker if you engage with entities like this.

Systemic Ineffectiveness

As someone with great admiration for the medical field, I have been deeply disappointed with the systemic problems I have experienced at numerous locations and departments. Hopefully this isn't a reflection of the future of medical care. Sadly they also have a monopoly in Utah with no other options in some areas.

We made a mistake for choosing this…

We made a mistake for choosing this group, but we have no choice since this is the closest to our house. They have staff that are kinda clueless and not-so-friendly, even their staff at the laboratory next door. They're like a cheap group with cheap nurses. The doctor we have is not that great either. Their system is kind of a mess. They sent us the wrong result of our annual physical checkup and they sent us a bill like our insurance never cover anything. We are now looking for another medical group, we are ditching this one soon.

What a joke!!!!!

What a joke this department is. I signed up for a payment plan and it worked for a month. Paid some extra with it and apparently that changes your plan to have to make that same amount each month. When I call and talk to them about it they say I’m not on a plan but I’m looking at two statements in front of me. Take the payment and shove it!!!!!

Horrible experience at Salt Lake Clinic Mammography!

Feb 27, 2025
I showed up today for a mammogram that I had scheduled weeks ago. My appointment was for 3:00. My husband and I parked the car at 3:02 and dashed in. When we got to the waiting area there were two gals working the desk. One was on the phone the entire time I was there and the other was chatting with another patient about paperwork. I waited with other patients for over 5 minutes. I was going to go interrupt and say I had an appointment but I thought it might be rude. When it finally came my turn to be helped the gal said she had to call someone. A tech came out and said I would have to reschedule because I was over 10 minutes late! I told her how long I had been waiting and she basically didn't believe me. She said she came out at 3:06 to look for me which I didn't believe. Neither my husband nor I saw her. She insinuated if I didn't see her that I was lying about how long I had been waiting. What a horrible way to treat a patient!! And why didn't the gal on the phone ask to call the person back since she had patients waiting??This is my first time going to SL Clinic for a mammogram. I will never go back. LDS Hospital is always my go to. They are great.

These people are literally evil

These people are literally evil. I called them with my insurance info and made an appointment with a new primary care physician that I waited a month for. This is to follow up with an ER visit where I had horrific gut issues and they found spots on my lungs. I also have cardiac arrythmias and fatigue, and feel like my days are numbered. I finally get to my appointment only to be told they made a mistake and would not take my insurance. I asked for advise and was told to call the number on the back of my insurance card. This is when I got really upset, I raised my voice and used some choice words I should not have, but did not direct it at anyone, just frustrated with the situation. Their supervisor was a horrible woman who showed no empathy for me whatsoever, her attitude was literally disgusting. I told her she had no idea how big of a deal this was and how much you are harming me, and she said she did, but it was hollow, as she had NO IDEA what I was there for or what I was going through. I was told I needed to leave, which I did immediately. These people have no idea how much harm they have caused me. It was their own mistake and they admitted it, but still would not provide the care they promised unless I paid for it myself. The lack of empathy was so disturbing and horrible I have no words for it, it is impossible to convey how much disgust and hatred I have towards these people right now.

If I can avoid Intermountain, I do.

If I can avoid Intermountain, I do. Since our local hospital changed over to Intermountain Healthcare, within a week of having services completed with them, they will contact you every day until you are on a payment plan with them. If you have more than one bill? It doesn’t get rolled into one account—they expect multiple payment plans to cover all. If you don’t get in touch with them within a week of your service (because you’re at work when they call), they threaten to send you to collections. It is apparent that this company does not care about healthcare or helping people make realistic payments for medical bills. They are for profit. Period.

I Love My Dr.

I love my Doc. So I’m going to stay as long as I can stand all the bad that is intermountain health. Their billing is so late and comes in little bits at a time. I often try to wait so I can see if anything else is going to pop up. Don’t wait too long though, or they’ll be contacting you. I swear, the day after I pay my bill, they send one from some other part of the country. The worst one was a bill from 11 months prior.. I don’t go to the doctor very much, but it’s time to go back before I’ve even seen last years bill. Also, if you’re waiting for some specialist to call and make an appointment, sit tight it’ll be a long wait. Don’t call them, they have to call you.

Their billing and payment system is…

Their billing and payment system is totally FUBAR. It's almost impossible to get a straight answer out of them. You can't get information online, over the phone, or in person. Very frustrating regardless of how you try to do it and I was trying to pay a bill.
