Worst Experience I’ve Ever Had

Can’t even fit all the details in this post, wish I could have avoided being sick because this is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. All of their billing employees are outsourced and terrible. Avoid if at all possible.

Do not go to IMC for CT scans - Salt Lake Clinic costs 80% less for CT scans.

I was just billed over $7000 for two CT scans (at that price it would only take 84 patients to actually pay for the fanciest CT scanner available). I called to see if I could get my bill adjusted stating that I could get these CT scans at another IMHC facility for under $1000 (which if I had known at the time I certainly would have done). I was told that the billing department was not responsible for the billing amount and was given no avenue for further appeal. I did find out that if I had no insurance at all I would be paying 30% less but as I had insurance they would not offer me this discount. My insurance essentially dropped the billing amount by around $350 leaving me with the rest. IMC did mildly threaten me with collections stating that they had payment plans available so that I could avoid collections. Prior to this, my experiences with IMC have been very good. FYI go to Salt Lake Clinic for your CT scans - significantly better prices there.

Horrible communication and pricing

Their ability to communicate and take responsibility for information they provide is a the worst I have ever experienced. Additionally their PT charges are 4 times what you would pay for almost any other provider. I suggest you avoid using them if at all possible

Terrible record keeping

I am very unhappy with the treatment I am getting and also the record keeping. I have been waiting for over 2 weeks to get a refill. Finally they tell me I have to come in to see a doctor first. I tell them I was in the office and saw a doctor twice in April. They say the record show I cancelled both of those appointments. I DID NOT - I was there and saw a doctor. Now another week has gone by and they say they corrected the record and yes I was there but I still have to come in because the preson I saw BOTH times was not a doctor but a helper filling in.

I received a bill for $336.80 all…

I received a bill for $336.80 all amounts were back to 2022 and two of the amounts were A YEAR OLD FROM Intermountain Healthcare, I have so far received two phone calls from the hospital demanding payment in full in 20 days I informed both of them I live on Social Security and I will make payments of $10.00 a month like all my other medical bills, both of them said this was unacceptable and I had to pay them $50.00 a month and if I didn't they would send me to COLLECTIONS. AND THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THEY WOULD CHARGE ME INTRESTRESS FOR EACH MONTH UNTILL PAID I TOLD THEM I ALREADY SENT IN A PAYMENT FOR $10.00 because this was all I could Afford due to other Medical Bills, and being on Social Security. They both were very rude and threats which is very poorly training. Is this how we treat are SENIORS LIVING ON LOW INCOME ALL MY OTHER MEDICAL BILLS THEY ALL AGREE TO TAKE THE $10.00 A MONTH AND WHY I'M I JUST GETTING THESE (YEAR OLD BILLS) THIS ISN'T FAIR OR RIGHT. no in network discount for select health insurance at idaho intermountain healthcare facilities

I have select health insurance, live in salt lake city and injured my knee in idaho. I called my doctor in slc and he ordered and MRI to be done at Cassia intermountain health hospital in burley so I could get the contractual discount with an 'in network' provider. I checked the online cost estimator on 'my health' and there was no cost estimate provided for any IHC facililty in idaho for this MRI. I called select health to get an estimate and was told I couldn't get one over the phone and they would email me a cost estimate within 3 days. No cost estimate was ever emailed to me within those 3 days and being in a lot of pain and unable to travel back to salt lake, I had the MRI done at Cassia intermountain health care hospital. Select Health only gave me $117 in network contractual discount for having this done at this intermountain facility for a final cost of $2200. If i had the same procedure done at an intermountain facility in salt lake city, my cost would have been $474 after the contractual in network discount. I would have gone to a non IHC facility in Idaho and paid $500 cash price for the MRI had I known this information beforehand. I called and wrote select health customer service multiple times and was told it was a billing issue. I called and wrote intermountain billing several times and was told it was an insurance issue. No one is taking responsibility for fixing the issue. Intermountain billing is sending letters and emails that this bill will go to collections if I don't pay it. I believe this is a clear violation of the 2022 health care cost transparency act as I tried via several avenues to get the cost estimate before having the MRI done. If you have select health insurance, DO NOT go to an intermountain facility in idaho for care as you will not received the usual and customary in network discount.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware: if you go for a wellness checkup, they will add a doctor visit to your bill and will be unwilling to tell you why. If the doctor offers you a flu shot or anything like that, do not accept it. There will be a big charge for something you could get free or for much less elsewhere. Intermountain has turned into a money making machine. And I cannot find a way to write a review of the doctor, although Intermountain has reviews online for him: all good.

Totally rude staff when you call…

Totally rude staff when you call 702-735-7154 and reach the referral office. This was my 3rd call in 2 months with the same experience each time. Go to comprehensive cancer, they treat you like a human.

Don’t care that I’ve been days without food or water

I have been released from the hospital ER without being able to eat or drink for 2 days now. I have a diagnosed medical problem that causes this, but they’d rather retaliate against me. I don’t know how much longer till I collapse but thanks to retaliatory notes on my chart I cannot receive medical care to anything even remotely considered an acceptable level. I cannot physically eat or drink and am forced to cold turkey everything from my all of my meds including a blood thinner but if you experience hopelessness or ask for social services it’s all up to the doctors if you receive it.

I advise anyone to just go in with a recording device for when they lie, not if unless your medical needs fit nicely into all their boxes. They don’t care if you’re bleeding profusely out of your rectum for multiple days while on a blood thinner, their clinics lie about their ability to put you in the hospital and retaliate if you try to make an appointment. Now I’m forced to go days without water so they can tell me I’m not severe enough.

HORRIBLE INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

Intermountain Healthcare is like a golden toilet. It looks shiny and bright but don't let that fool you, it is still a toilet.

Let me start by saying in the beginning all was well but when my health took a serious turn, things went seriously wrong very quickly.

When you call to book an appointment the phone rings at a central call center. This is the first bad link in the chain of fools. When I went for my appointment the woman working the front desk was new at her job (I confirmed this with my doctor during my appointment) and was clueless about what she was doing. It took more than six weeks to get into a specialist during which time I suffered repeatedly with the same issues and often made unnecessary visits because the doctor failed in giving both the proper medication and enough to get me through to the specialist appointments. I nearly ended up in the hospital twice. I, personally, had to figure out types of medication, how to obtain the medication, and how much to take. It's a good thing I didn't need surgery or I would have had to figure out how to do that too.

In the end, I discovered regardless of what I did or said it didn't matter. So I decided to move to another doctor. Then I tried to get my medical records, which has now turned into yet another battle.

If you are going to deal with Intermountain Healthcare, find a good doctor for the ulcer you're about to get along with a shrink for the mental anguish you'll be suffering from.

1 Star Rating is way too much for this Money grabber!

I'm going to fall into the category of wishing there was a 0 Star, as Intermountain doesn't deserve the 1 Star in this review. We had a family member receive an "authorized" treatment, which included an email confirming the approval, a voice recording approving the treatment, and a phone call with a staff member in the department confirming that the treatment was "authorized". They then charged us for out-of-network billing. We went through their juggernaut of a process to appeal the decision, including the above mentioned emails and voice messages; only to have them deny the appeal. They then promptly sent us to collections.
How is it that the normal consumer, does their due diligence to make sure that they follow both the provider and insurance guidelines for a needed treatment, but have Intermountain Healthcare play the 1,000 pound Gorilla role, push their weight around, stonewall the appeal process, and then close the door on us?? I'm sure this was just a minor cog in the their machine of "rinse and repeat" with customers in the Utah Valley area.
Makes me sick to see them money grab like this. I will be sending this review on as many platforms as I can. Intermountain, you should look at your check & balance systems and own up to mistakes rather than sticking it to the working class members of your community!

Horrible place to work managers suck

Horrible place to work managers suck, CEO is selfish and greedy. When you are a part time employee you work full time because they can't find anyone to work for them and then they make you pay higher insurance payments. I worked here for 16 years and saw the same crap go down year after year. IM SO GLAD IM DONE WITH YOU. AND I work for an awesome company now.

Wanted to get a covid test today

Wanted to get a covid test today, called my doctor's office, at IHC first, after 10 minutes on hold the receptionist said just go to Insta Care at the hospital. Get there and call phone number for more information. Another 8 minutes of waiting for someone to answer, to be told pick up a test and go spit in the tube. No one up to this point says anything about an 11 digit code, so after I figure it out that one is needed.Go to said website can't easy connect, forgot password, etc, can't get site to respond to resetting it.Call the Insta Care number again and after 25 minutes on hold the receptionist was of less help than before. So now after 1 1/2 hours out in my vehicle on a very warm July day I call technical support, not much wait time, explain the problems and I'm helped through them. Finally the 11 digit code is supposed to be on it's way after a few minutes I ask if the tech can just read it to me, which he graciously does, and I'm on my way home. Now 3 hours later, I receive the magic digits in a text, not the tech's fault I'm sure. Ok my suggestions, keep your website straight, simple, to the point, and not much fuff. Have your receptionist suggest people get the 11digit before they leave home. When you are filling like crap any help is appreciated and the simpler the better, if your head is spinning. Thanks Again to Tech Support! 5 stars to them.

Avoid this hospital at all costs

As you can see from their overall poor star ratings this is a lousy hospital to work with. It’s worse than dealing with a crooked used car dealership. Very greedy and they have no accountability, they will not own up to their mistakes and errors. Horrible service doesn’t even begin to explain this pitiful hospital giant.

I was locked up here

I was locked up here, many times, as a kid. I dont think the staff expected that I would fight for my freedom. As they strapped me to that bed, the experience became even MORE violent. my experience here, has affected my adult life. I am always ready for someone to hurt me. I trust nobody. Needless to say, all of my relationships have failed. I am 39 now.

Review for Dr John L Clayton

Review for Dr. John L Clayton: On 2-4-22 my wife Lucinda Banks Ellis had implant surgery on both breasts. it seemed to go fine until Sunday 2-6-22 when she hemorrhaged, and had to be taken for emergency surgery (by ambulance). we are both in our seventy's, and this was extremely eventful, and stressful! follow-up appointments have been as bad. Over three appointments we have waited over one and a half hours. First apt 25 min-second apt 40 min-third today was 30min. very unprofessional. and would not recommend this Doctor to anyone. The entire experience has been a nightmare!

IHC BILLING IS A JOKE!!

I had a surgery at an IHC facility, the bill was too large for me to pay all at once, so I set up a "payment plan" over the phone. Two months later, I noticed that the automatic payment was not being made, and I get a notice from a debt collection agency for that bill. I call IHC, they get the bill back, inform me that I never signed a "promisory note" and I set up another "payment plan". I never received ANY promisory note to sign, in the mailbox or email. I ended up trying to get a "payment plan" 3 times!! It would never work. I was again sent to collections and now have tried to fix it again. IHC said they cannot work with me. I have to work through the collection agency. I will NEVER do ANY business with IHC EVER AGAIN!! WHAT A JOKE THEY'VE BECOME. I only gave one star because my surgery was good.
