Honestly, I regret joining JD Gym in Birmingham Newtown. The women’s only section was the main reason I signed up, thinking it would be a safe place where we can take our hijabs off and work out in peace.
Instead, one of the female PTs has been recording and on TikTok live in there! This is so wrong and so disrespectful. We go in there because we think it’s private – and now we have to worry about being filmed? It’s completely unacceptable.
Also they have multiple female staff, however they always feel the need to make the male staff come into the women’s only area section and toilets to do checks.
I felt so uncomfortable and unsafe after seeing this happen. Management doesn’t seem to take it seriously either. If you’re a Muslim woman or just want a safe, private environment, this is not the place.
Sort it out JD Gym – your members deserve basic respect and privacy.

I don’t recommend this gym at all. It’s dirty, smelly, equipment all over the place. I’m lucky I only paid £10 for the first month and no contract.

A lot more machines. In comparison to other gyms it lacks in number of machines. Tare no duplicates but seems too prioritise Cardio when they are not all in use nor are people waiting for them.

The gym membership is a lot of money compared to the practicality of the gym as there is not much machinery and the women section is so unbelievably small

I joined the gym on Friday, went to the gym on Friday, cancalled membership on Friday. Or atleast put in a request to cancel because i got an automated reponse saying it takes 21 days. What a joke. It was a very hot day, treadmills next to the window on higher floor, AC in treadmill area switched off. It gets worse, shower area absolutely filthy dirty and to top it off there was excrement in the shower cubicle. Can't be dealing with that.

Jd gym Birmingham charge extra for nothing other Jd gym are cheaper an better. No AC working in summer no Fresh air in Gym when busy im asthmatic which is really bad. Smell rotten in showers an sauna. No cleaning equipment 1 spray for the whole gym. 1 tissue roll for the whole gym 3 floors. Staff dnt clean up just sign off every hour an full of rude staff. Men gym falling apart.

Reply from JD Gyms - Birmingham
Not worth the price. How am I paying £30 a month and the AC doesn’t work. The ads are misleading so many exercise machines are missing. There’s no space it feels claustrophobic. The minute the month is up I am cancelling my membership

The gym is great however there appears to be no aircon and the ladies toilets are in a state. 2 cubicle doors you are unable to lock. The toilet tissue dispenser is jamed so you are unable to get tissue out. Its a pity as it lets the gym down.

The women section in the gym is small, cramped and always missing weights. There is always atleast 1 machine that is broken and as time goea on more and more equipment is being removes.
The showers are dingy and dark, and have a strange smell.
There are no classes during the day only at peak time, when there is bi parking. And the classes are too full if you do come at peak time making it hard to actually take part in vlasses. All the good classes have been removed only leaving the same few that are repeated daily with no variety.

I got bitten in the sauna which seems to be a termite bite as the wood is rotting. I am reluctant to use the service again tbh
It’s a bad gym the staff can be rude and the women section is actually terrible. It’s a 24hr gym yet they close the changing rooms. You actually have to get changed in the equipment area if you get here too late and at night the young men wonder in the women’s only to see.
I got locked in the gym for 3 hrs because the door were locked and there were no staff available after hours of calling for help the cleaner came out of the disabled toilet to see after hiding in there to not be able to help us because she didn’t know how to open the doors or where the emergency exit point. It took for me uber driver help for us to get out.
I sent an email and still no reply for the trauma.

I have been a member at JDGYM for a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best fitness communities I’ve ever been part of. The variety of classes on offer, like Spin, Body Pump, Body Combat, and Zumba keeps things exciting and helps me stay motivated. There's something for everyone, no matter your fitness level.
What really makes JDGYM stand out, is the team. The personal trainers, Yasmin, Hannah, Sharon, Bianca, and Gemma are not only incredibly professional but also genuinely lovely people. They’re always happy to help, super encouraging, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their energy makes every session fun and productive.
If you’re looking for a gym with great classes, a welcoming atmosphere, and expert support from a top-notch team, JDGYM is the place to be

Dirtiest gym I have ever been to the showers toilets and changing rooms are a disgrace the smell is unbelievable a mixture of sewers, urine & gone off curry. you have to hold your nose while you have a shower here its thick with grime and dirt all over the floors, the people who use this gym are just as unhygienic and it seems to be more like a place to pray on carpets in the corners of the stairwells rather than a gym, disgusting. Also they claim to be a 24 hour facility but the changing rooms are locked from 12 - 5am so there is no access to the sauna or showers during these hours which is the only reason I joined due to working away on nightshifts finishing within these hours. Recommend moving to the gym group/pure gym instead

The womens section has very limited equipment and very out dated equipment. There are no staff on hand in the womens section. And OH MY GOD!!! The showers and sauna is disgusting! Tell me why does the womens showers smell like a disgusting public toilet when there are NO toilets by the showers? There was clumps of hair and dirt in every shower cubicle. The sauna is extremely small. It fits 4 average sized women but more then that squeezes in there and again, NO staff to manage the place.
I had really high hopes for this gym but I won't be returning.

Could do with abit more treadmills in womens sections
