The weights are always all over the gym, there isn’t enough of the equipment people use the most and the smells from the drains is often noticeable

The staff are very helpful and there is plenty of equipment. Only downside is there’s a few cross trainers with broken handles

Very good equipment, not the biggest gym but everything you need. Very clean and not overly busy at any point.

It's nice clean gym but all crosstrainers need to replace or serviced
Very noisy
Other than that I can't fault in
Nice and clean place

Since joining its been a really appealing gym to visit. Mix of young an old, friendly staff, all equipment working, clean, tidy. Reasonably priced.
My only gripe would be that it's too busy sometimes so while there's plenty of treadmills and bikes, there's often a queue for machines.

Joined up and got a training programme provided by Jordan. Very helpful.

Went for my first visit and was blown away by how nice it was, very clean, and the changing rooms were immaculate

It's an ok gym at best with a very basic budget conversion to JD as the equipment is very dated as it looks like it's still the old equipment from the previous gym they bought out some time ago, which is a real shame as the machines really do let the gym down as they are very basic compared to the touch and interactive screens in other gyms. This also means that nothing connects with any apps to monitor/track your progress etc which is standard practice in all new gyms.
The spinning bikes are dreadful like a home exercise bike from the '80s as you have no idea what gear/level you are in, the speed you are cycling at, the distance you have travelled or the calories you have burned.... again standard practice on all machines nowadays. JD is missing a real trick here with their app as they could with very little investment make their app far more interactive with the machines and customer tracking workouts, gym time, class time, having competitions, tailoring JD offers to the customer etc.
It's also a very busy gym so you are left standing around waiting to get on equipment sometimes for long periods of time.
Having had the pleasure of using several other JD gyms this conversion is to a very basic and budget standard with a severe lack of investment in modern equipment there are also no TVs downstairs only a couple upstairs so only seen by a few people as opposed to where you run and work out which makes little sense?
Finally, it only has 3 showers!! just 3 ... (in the men's) so again every time I've been I've had to queue to shower.
Sorry JD you could have done a lot better here.

My local gym at Castleford has a great choice of machines and free weights, an excellent sauna and showers. It is cleaned regularly 👍

I went to the gym in Xscape. My main reason for joining is to rehab my knee and build the strength back up. I use the leg machines- leg extension, hamstring curls, abduction and adduction etc. Unfortunately most of the machines I need are horrendous to use. The pin was broke on the leg curl and fell out in my hand, and I'm quite small so I have to adjust the machines and most of them are so stiff to adjust I have to put my full body weight into it to push the seat forward. As you can imagine, it's not the best to be doing this when I need to be careful with my knee. It's made me feel anxious about going because I don't want to look silly trying and failing to adjust a machine. I did go to the JD gym in chesterfield which was completely on another level and really enjoyed my session there. But the Xscape gym is the one local to me which wasn't great. I will try and go again but I'm not sure how often the machines are looked at or if it's just the Castleford gym that seems to be full of run down, stiff machines?

Joining was simple.
Friendly staff.
Great equipment
Plenty of choice with free, stationary and cable weights.
Never stuck for cardio equipment. Massive choice of bikes, treadmills, cross trainers, stair climbers etc
Happy days, highly recommended at a price that doesn't break the bank.
Happy customer

Been using gyms for many years now, every gym has it's peak times, however, I've personally not had any issues using what I need to. Good range of equipment, spacious, nice friendly staff and nice, clean changing facilities. Great value for money.

Great gym, friendly atmosphere and decent machines. The best thing I ever did was sign up to this gym, it has genuinely become a large part of my life now. The only downside is the poor air conditioning that can make some sessions a slog in the hot weather.

When I joined the staff member 'Terri' was very helpful and offered to show me around before commiting to a membership, she even helped move the rowing machine to accommodate for my wheelchair. Although there is a lift at my gym it is not working and don't know how long it will be.
The main issue is the gate for wheelchair access, while people who walk can scan the App and freely enter the gym, I have to press a button and wait to be let in, which sometimes can take over quarter of an hour.
