Sauna doesn’t work. It didn’t get hot, I was in there for 25mins and didn’t break a sweat. I asked a manager and she says it needs to be reset every 4 hrs which isn’t normal. Every time I go in there it’s the same problem. Also women wearing their workout clothes in the sauna and it smelt so bad

Everytime I go in the doncaster gym. In the male changing room the sauna stinks of piss and sometimes stinks of sick or vomit aswell. Also shower drain stinks of piss. These facilities needs cleaning

Doncaster Branch
Massively oversubscribed.
It's all about the money.
Been going for 5 years and it's never been this bad even with the new year resolution guys in the first 3 months of a new year.
Cheap equipment that easily breaks and takes an age to repair.
On the big cable in the centre the left hand side height selector is faulty but because it does work in a fashion, it's never been fixed.
Full of kids who im sure are under age.
All in all id expect more consideration and professionalism for £300+ per year.
I've found i have to go later and later to get on anything. Currently 11pm
Stop taking new members!!

What an unwelcoming place this is. It's busy and chaotic in the evenings with not enough kit. Kit missing attachments and pins. Young, and I mean 12 year olds using kit. The language is obscene. Had to ask a group of lads not to vape next to me. If looks could kill. FFS.

My husband cancelled about a year ago submitting an online form as no one in the gym can do it. Also no way to do it on the phone. Nothing happened and kept taking payment. He then did it again and got an email back saying the last payment would be in 28th October.
He then checked his bank statement yesterday and they have been taking the direct debit every month since then. Bank have refunded and cancelled all future payments. Absolute joke of a company and will just go in your bank whenever they want. You can bet if he had cancelled he'd have their rottweiler debt collectors after him (which I also experienced some years ago when I cancelled).
Edit following reply from JD gym. I had letters from Harlands debt collectors myself previously when I had cancelled and cancelled my direct debit. See point 5.8 in their TS&C's which totally blows out of the water the reply to this review by JD gyms claiming the don't use debt recovery. I have tried to add a screen shot of this but it will not let me.
The cancellation process clearly doesn't work. Based on my husband's recent experience and the email that confirms cancellation also states not to cancel the direct debit and gives the date of the last payment. Never again will either of us use JD gyms because of this.

Incredibly busy. In the morning and evening, not enough machine and too many cross trainers. That’s what you get for the price I guess. Maybe open another one in Doncaster.

Signed up for 5 pound January offer, emailed saying I’d like to cancel as it was too far, had no response and took an extra 30 pounds which I cannot make use of.

I used to go to she Sheffield branch, was always impressed with carpark size and business levels. However the Doncaster branch looks big but isn’t. Weights are here there and everywhere. Not a staff member in sight. Oversubscribed couldn’t get on anything. Absolutely full of kids who looked 15 at the most, some guy brought his actual children in to watch him train. Totally unimpressed.
Gonna try a different branch but if they’re all like this I’ll be cancelling my membership.
Gym group app can tell you down periods. Jd app is very simplified and cheap feeling. Can’t check on gym levels before going. Needs complete overhaul

No body to meet you when you walk into the gym.
I had to ask someone where the changing rooms were
Then asked another person how the lockers work
Walked around the gym to see what was there, Nobody to help
I had to work out how to use the machines
Some machines I knew what I was doing
I feel sorry for a beginner due to lack of staff to show them what to do (SAFELY).

Gym’s clean and well equipped. Would have rated 5 stars if Sauna would be more functional, most of the time i find it not working 🥲 i hope they sort it out asap.

Great equipments and gym environment looks very healthy.
Could have a 5 star experience if Sauna was available / working .
I joined because of the Sauna facility but the breakdown most of the time has been bad experience . I am sure this will be taken care of soon

The equipment and accessibility is really good and you dont have to worry about not getting on stuff due to the volume of equipment.
However.. The maintenance throughout the entire facility is so so poor. Sauna’s is frequently out of order with no explanation. Machines consistently broken taking weeks to repair. The cleanliness of the changing rooms is really bad due to bins not getting emptied and showers not being cleaned. A company the size of JD should have maintenance staff on site. £30 is not close to being worth it. Pure greed.

The use of mobile phones has become a disease at the gym. People sat on equipment just scrolling through their phone. The number of times I ‘ve had to tell people to not do it because I need to use it. It’s soooo annoying, you really need to sort it. Plus, once you get in you can’t leave and return, for example if you have to go to your car, which I have then had to summon staff to get back in.
, only to get the reply ‘well I think
I trust you but people use others codes’ for gods sake it’s like Fort Knox! Sometimes I don’t use my phone and yet it’s the only way to access it, how divisive, so if you don’t have a phone you can’t get in, can’t be right surely.

Gym advertised as it has sauna. When I joined there were few things ouy of order including sauna. I asked regulars how long for and found out it was already few weeks out of order.

Gym equipment not very good condition. Expected something better.

Very clean and well maintained gym. Lovely staff. I only cane to see if it was what everyone said it was.i joined up before i left. There’s a few gyms in my area but as a budget gym this is the best by far.

Just nice atmosphere no hassle on getting on the equipment, could do with staff around to show you how to use certain machines but other than that all good

I was a member on and off for so many years, it was overcrowded and even extremely busy at off peak times but I didn't mind too much. I always got on with it. However, someone went into my locker and stole my things a few months ago, I tried to go back but since have felt very unsafe in the changing rooms.
Expensive shoes that were a gift to me and I had to replace. The staff did the bare minimum and I didn't feel supported or helped.
Now when trying to cancel my membership it's made much more difficult then it has to be and a long period so they can squeeze another few payments out of you.
