I just found that there is no one walking around to show you how to work any machines if you are struggling

Trained at various gyms previously and I must admit JD Gyms Rotherham is a great place to workout whether it be cardio, classes or weights. It's also open 24 hours which is good too and has some great equipment and friendly staff to help if required. Friendly members also which is a bonus. Reasonably priced too so would definitely recommend.

I had a great experience at JD gyms. I had a chance to go on different machines and equipment all which were beneficial to me. The people surrounding me make me feel relaxed and made me feel confident also. The gym itself has lots of other facilities to use for people. It's a great gym overall.

Well presented gym with plenty to go and great staff

The equipment is good. The building is airy. The only downside I believe is the locker room, as access to it is restricted to up until 8 pm on weekends.

Only thing I didn't like was, my QR isn't working when I go to reception, I have to go to see someone next time I go in to sort it

I give it 5 stars because it is a good gym but the bad thing is that the people who train do a section or repetition and I know that they spend a lot of time looking at their phone and that's because those of us who like to train don't see it well, I wish something could be done with that problem and also when people use a piece they do not return it to its place, that is my point of view

Joined JD Rotherham about a month ago. I’d previously been with the Gym Group for years. There have been positives. This gym is a decent size and very clean, both the gym areas, showers and changing areas. The music’s much better too. I’ve had a few gripes but today I decided to cancel my membership and return to Gym Group. Primarily because the equipment, particularly the machines are better maintained. This gym needs more machines. (Not treadmills and bikes, they are in abundance). It’s a challenge to get on what you want all too often. But when something does break, my former gym had things repaired quickly and had two of almost every machine so if one broke you had an alternative. The seat on the arm curl machine has been broken since I joined. But by far my biggest bug bare is the entry system. At the Gym Group you scan a QR code using your camera and you’re in. Should that fail you just punch your code into the keypad. Simples. Easy to use intuitive app that tells you how busy it is before you go. You can enter and leave multiple times per day. The system JD uses is awful. When it works it’s fine but half the time you’re stood there waving your screen in front of the scanner hoping it’ll work this time. To make this worse, there is no back up. You can’t just enter your personal ID number as I’m used to. To make things worse, if you want to pop outside for something or you’ve left something in the car you can’t get back in on the same day. Because of this gym I work out less. I like 24 hour gyms because I’m an insomniac. Before joining if I couldn’t sleep I could say, sod it I’d might as well be doing something and go to the gym rather than doom scrolling on my phone. Times I’d be mindlessly scrolling Netflix of an evening and think “why am I doing this, I could be in the gym getting beach body ready.” But if I’ve already been that day I know there’s no point trying to get in again. This is by far the biggest issue and the reason I’m cancelling my membership. I just want to get in, work out and leave without doubting whether I’ll even get in or out. And when you’re trying to follow a plan, you need to know that you can use the equipment you need and that if understandably it breaks occasionally, it’ll be fixed a couple of days later.

i just don't like how crowed it is constantly and there is like 13-14 year olds in groups of 4 doing nothing taking a machine for 20 min

I've tried to change my membership to multiple gyms and its not working just Rotherham gym and I wanted the membership for Sheffield North

It's a nice big gym with plenty of equipment and lots of classes. The price is all in with no contract. There's no joining fee although you have to pay one month upfront so that's really the joining fee.
There are plenty of lockers and showers in the changing rooms and hairdryers (nice)
I've tried quite a few gyms in Rotherham and this one full fills my needs the best.
