There is no proper freeweight section. I was genuinely surprised. It is such a tiny gym also. On top of that the rowing machines didn't work.
I cancelled my membership, even emailed to make sure it was cancelled. I received no reply and am continuing to get charged. Really really annoying and now owed 100 pounds!!!!!! Please someone get in contact with me
I have trouble getting in And out sometimes and there is no steam room. The changing room smells awful. Apart from that it's good.

I've been a JD Salford member for about 9mths now. I've been going to gyms for about 20yrs so been to my fair share! Yes, it's often busy but it's a city centre gym and so that's not surprising.
My main gripe is the gym equipment which is often broken/out of use. There are always at least 50% of the spin bikes not working properly; broken pedals, dipped seats, screens not working, resistance lever not functioning correctly etc. This is so frustrating, as you have to try at least 3-4 before finding one that works. Disappointing and annoying.
The stairmaster machines seem to break a lot too. There are 4 and only 2-3 were working for months.
It would be great if there were higher than 12.5kg dumbbells in the Burn room too. Ideally up to 20kg would be great.
On the plus side, Emily's spin class is great. She's enthusiastic, helpful, changes playlists and gives you a hard workout every week! More please!

Attended class today, and 45 minutes just isn’t nearly enough. There’s not enough time to get through everything properly, it’s super rushed. 1 hour would have made so much more sense as it allows for a full workout without cutting corners. What’s the point of paying for a gym membership when it not getting the full experience?! Really disappointed with JD Gyms

Put my request in to cancel as I’m within my cancellation period (14 days) and it’s been a week without any acknowledgement or message from JD. Terribly unorganised, they clearly want to keep my direct debit set up.

Joined JD gyms purely for the HITT Step class as I am already a paying member of another gym within Salford, therefore, the only enticing factor to this below average gym was the HIT Step class which is viral on many platforms around the world for the amazing classes and unique style Julius puts into his classes. This AMAZING class has recently been reduced from 1 hour to 45 mins, which was not how it was originally timetabled or advertised, which is a total shame as there dosent seem to be any consideration on the impact of the many members who only attend the HIT Step class and use no other facility in the gym. Any complains regarding this have just revived a ‘blanket email’ from management, which is unprofessional and has no consideration for the impact this has had on the people who attend the class. Yoga is the class which follows and I have always found they enter the class before 8pm and since the change they now come into the space from 7.45pm which gives them an extra 15 minutes? We are all paying members and deserve the same respect. Very unhappy and I would happily pay my monthly 25.99 elsewhere is the HIT Step was to move to a different venue.

Machines are just scattered any where rather than in muscle group order. Gym looks untidy and the amount of people recording is a joke and you can't enjoy a session

I’ve been a regular at JD Gyms Salford for a while now, and I have to say I’m disappointed with how they’ve handled the recent class schedule changes. Yesterday was my second Stepperon class after the new time cut, and it’s so short compared to the full hour that it used to be. It feels rushed and not effective at all!
I was a bit confused with this as when I went, the class itself seemed super busy to the point where people had to be turned away from the class due to lack of steppers, so with that in mind, it didn’t really make sense for such a popular class to be one of the shortest ones? Anyways, it was quite disappointing and I hope management do something about this asap!

DISSAPOINTED! This particular gym.is in salford ,regent rd. Unfortunately i have NEVER experienced such an injustice in any gym i have attended....the Hiit step class which takes place on both monday and thursday 7-8pm has been going from strength to strength since it started, with the numbers at full capacity and members coming as early as 20 minutes before the class as once its full ,members have to be turned away..
The class itself is fun, energetic and a great challenge for ALL, as the structure caters for all abilities, its a class which many of my fellow members look forward to each and every week..
It has been unfairly targeted. Not only has it been penalised and had its times reduced due to afew minutes of over run which may i add is a very regular occurrence in a majority of classes as cctv footage if replayed will prove for any classes checked , we often are waiting upon the class before us to finish .. and as a general rule the majority of instructers are accommadating and understanding of this small.inconvenience as it can and often does happen in alot of classes..
When this has been mentioned via emails and verbally to the jd staff at the gym in order to try and rectify the times back to the 1hr in order for members to have a complete class it has been dismissed and the focus seems solely on this step class alone and no willingness to resolve what seems an easily fixable solution..
This now means the class which ran for an hour has been significantly reduced to 45minutes and therefore having a direct impact on the quality and quantity of what can be done within the time we have..
A handful of members and the instructer who take part in the yoga class which follows the step class have complained which has lead to this extreme decision being made..and no class takes place after yoga so the impact on them is negligible ..
The valid points which step members have made to jd gym in there emails have been disregarded and a non movement stance is what i along with many members have faced from the jd gym when trying to resolve and restore the situation so that us members can have the full enjoyment of a complete step class. It has been unnecessarily escalated and our willingness to resolve and come to a compromise has fallen on deaf ears.

Having been a member for over three years I am truly appalled and disgusted by the recent treatment of the HIIT Step class members.
As of this week our class has been reduced to just 45 minutes to allow for 15 minutes set up time for the following hour long class despite it requiring no equipment set up. Since moving to 45 minutes class, I and other members maintain:
• 45 minutes does not work, this weeks shortened class only allowed for the ‘basic steps’ element of the class, leaving the more advance regulars feeling short-changed and unchallenged.
• Our preferred and suggested solution was to be out at 55 minutes which leaves 5 minutes for the next class to set up; if their class requires an hour then they shouldn’t receive the studio space for 75 minutes compared to Steps 45. Management however have not been open to this suggestion, illustrating favouritism without compromise towards longer serving instructors despite a disparity in class attendances.
• A number of Step members attend additional classes throughout the week and therefore can see the irregular treatment of step members, leaving us feel singled-out and aggrieved. A number of classes continue on after their scheduled time with no issue as long as they are out in time for the next class to begin on schedule, so to not be graced with the same courtesy shows a distinct unwillingness to compromise or find a solution that suits all members.
When I first joined this gym there was a wide variety of classes available including Body Combat, regular LBT evening classes etc that have now been cut from the schedule, and should Step also have to move away from JD Gyms I can no longer see the value in paying my membership fee here.
I do hope that JD Gyms will reconsider their approach to scheduling and consider the needs of all paying customers and not just one class.

This is in regards to the Stepper-ton classes being cut down to 45 minutes instead of the full hour. I have been a part of the class for over 2 years now, and I know from my experience that 45 minutes just isn’t enough time.
I was a member before the class moved to Salford, and the only reason I still have a membership with JD gyms is because of this class. I travel far to get to the Salford gym as it is nowhere near where I live or work, so to only have 45 minutes when many other classes get the full hour is not right.
This should have never really been an issue in the first place. The class runs from 7pm-8pm, and the instructor has always finished his class on time if not 5 minutes earlier in order to give the next class enough time to set up.
Despite multiple emails from the members of Stepper-ton to the team at JD Salford, none of our concerns were taken into consideration and we have been penalised as a result. It has been really disappointing to see how this has been managed as it has not been a fair decision at all.

I’m extremely disappointed with the decisions made by management at JD Gym in Salford following shortening the HIIT step class times.
The class used to run for one hour and followed a particular class layout. The class used to be intense and efficient, allowing me to have a fun but intense workout and meant I burnt a significant amount of calories. Now, with the reduced time, it feels rushed and ineffective. The shorter duration means we don’t get to push ourselves as hard, and I’m no longer getting the same results. It’s frustrating when changes like this impact the quality of the workout.
Furthermore, although other solutions could have been taken, the decision was made to cut one class by 15 minutes, instead of simply reducing the class to 55 minutes and starting the next class which is also an hour long five minutes later, which would have been a fair compromise on both sides.
The class in question has been full each class since I started 6 months ago. It seems strange to cut such a popular class, leaving its members cut short without a proper work out.
I’m interested to know why the voices of one class have been favoured over the other, it seems unfair and looks as though there is favouritism between management and instructors.
Poor and unjust choices made by JD gyms Salford.

Management seem to prioritise certain classes over others. I attend the HIIT step class which is great and I thoroughly enjoy, but this hour long class has been cut down to 45 mins to prioritise one class which takes place in studio afterwards who would like an hour. Extremely disappointing that this is the type of decision making which takes place, and isn't fair on other classes. We all pay a monthly fee and thus all classes should be afforded the same amount of time without showing bias to one. In a world which is focused on creating inclusive environments, their decision making goes against this. Please consider this if you're thinking on attending some classes at JD, as you probably won't be getting your moneys worth due to unfair management decisions. Similarly, you may want to consider the above if you're a fitness instructor and looking to offer classes at JD gyms.
I've emailed the gym but haven't received a response.

I have really enjoyed being a member; however, I have noticed that the gym is often quite busy. I am always eager to attend the HIT Step class with Julius, so I was very disappointed to learn that the duration of the class has been reduced from one hour to 45 minutes. This decision seems particularly unfair, given that this class appears to have one of the highest attendance rates among members. I hope a fair resolution can be reached to address this issue.
