Generally an unpleasant gym to train at. The cleanliness is rough and the whole place is untidy. Plates are difficult to locate and staff/ users etiquette is indicative of poor culture nurturing. Lo... See more

I enjoy JD Gyms, I have been training here since it was Xercise for Less. There is a variety of equipment and plenty of space. However, I have noticed the class schedule has been reduced.

Very friendly staff.
Always clean.
Such a lot of equipment no standing around waiting to use anything.

Phenomenal facilities and epic functional area. The changing rooms smell strong of sweat though. Could do with foam rollers and resistance bands unless I didn't see where they are kept. Music is decent but would be good if volume was bit lower. Best gym I've been to in a few years.

Where to even start…
Only joined this gym a few months ago.
First of all, the ventilation here is shocking. The place often stinks, especially upstairs (where the cardio equipment is), even at non-peak times. It smells like sweat and breath. It feels stuffy and uncomfortable.
It doesn’t matter what time you go at, it’s always packed. The women’s-only gym gets busy too and it’s a tiny space. Can usually find a bench free to use the dumbbells but that’s about it. Prepare to wait for almost every other machine you want. Squat racks are the hardest to get on.
Staff don’t seem to ever patrol the gym which they really need to. Gym etiquette is quite poor here. No-one seems to put plates back where they got them from meaning you’re endlessly hunting for plates. It’s not the staff’s fault how people behave but they could at least do some regular rounds putting weights back where they belong.
Again, not the staff’s fault but changing rooms have an issue with girls taking mirror selfies with others in the background. Don’t want to be snapped getting changed in the background of someone’s photo. Never encountered this issue at a gym before.
As mentioned by a few others, equipment that breaks seems to take an awfully long time to be fixed. Most of the equipment is the same as the old Xercise4Less which I used to go to 7 years ago.
To include something positive, at least, the lighting here is good, not too bright and headache-inducing, it’s just right. Plenty of lockers in the changing rooms, make sure you bring your own padlock.
I switched to this gym because it was much closer but I’ll be going back to my old gym soon.

1. Just when you enter the gym you need some kind of internet connection to get in - the wifi for the gym members is horrible (can't even play the music on spotify) and my mobile data takes like 5 minutes to load the QR code (used iPhone 7 and newest iPhone, same results, so hardware issues have been ruled out). 2. The changing rooms are okay (would always like to have more room to sit, but it's fine), some people have a problem with changing rooms being locked at 10pm, but I'd say the bigger problem is a constant smell coming for the toilets. The showers get clogged pretty often so if you come on a busy day it might be a while till you can get into one or you get blasted with water on your feet from adjacent showers by the staff who tries to unclog it. 4. The ventilation system is pretty bad, the moment you go up on the 1st floor where all the treadmills are, the air is already thick and you can get very sweaty just from being there. 5. If there are any group events in the studio you have to pick up a mat, go downstairs to the ground floor, do your exercises, and go back to the first floor to put the mat back. So ideally there should be a 2nd mat rack downstairs for convenience. Overall I would recommend choosing the other gym in the Swansea city centre which is also cheaper at the moment.

Where is the cancel button? It's so easy to join but it's impossible to cancel the membership. It's a scam and it's impossible to find amd cancel it straightforward.
I have submitted the request and that takes 21 days to approve 😂😂
Are you approving home loan😂

THIS GYM DOES NOT LACK QUALITY OR QUANTITY OF EQUIPMENT , LOCATION OF EQUIPMENT IS QUITE SPARODIC . THE AVAILABILITY OF SOME OF THE MACHINES VERY LIMITED . THE ONLY TIMES I CAN TRAIN IS AT PEAK TIMES AND IT DOES GET VERY VERY BUSY .

I don’t like using a gym as I always feel overwhelmed by how busy it is and I guess I lack confidence.
Took the leap to join JD Gym after speaking to a member of staff via the phone, he was so helpful with all the questions I had and suggested to visit and have a day pass to use the equipment.
I did and I have to say I did not feel overwhelmed as the gym is spacious and light and airy, the music was not to loud and staff we only to willing to help me every time. I have recently joined and have had 3 sessions in my first week 😊

Overall a good gym. Good central location, plenty of equipment.
Womens gym area only has two treadmills sometimes with only 1 working! Would be good to get more. Perhaps a stair climber/steps master too? In future, if you could offer a cafe area or a creche for mums, that would be great.

Swansea women’s gym is not very big there two of each machine and most are out of order not the best experience joined up and just let loose with no idea how to work anything but if we were paying a 300 pound PT Session would of been shown everything . But disappointed with the hype around the gym
