Great legal service from JMIR solicitors. I was having issues with some tenants which Ahmad and the team helped resolve quickly and effectively and they were as responsive as possible given their busy workloads. Would recommend them for any housing law issues and would use again in the future if needed!

Dishonest, Unprofessional, and Overpriced – A Terrible Experience with JMR Solicitors

If I could give 0 stars, I would! Avoid JMR Solicitors at all costs!

Due to financial constraints, I searched for a more affordable solicitor and found JMR Solicitors. I paid for a 30-minute consultation on April 15th to review a straightforward handover contract for my café. The solicitor hinted that the cost would be around £800-£1,000 + VAT and that it would take 4-6 hours of work, likely completed within 2-3 weeks. He gave the impression that it would be quick and not expensive.

However, the experience was far from what was promised. The final cost ballooned to over £3,000—triple the estimate—and dragged on for six months. I felt completely deceived. They charged over £1,000 for phone calls and emails, including every communication I made to check progress. If I didn’t chase them, I wouldn’t get updates.

My £1,800 deposit was quickly consumed by these communication fees, and I wasn’t informed until it was exhausted. Then, I was told I owed £400 and had to pay another £2,400 to continue. A finance team member rudely threatened to stop work if I didn’t pay.

JMR also delayed my case by claiming they hadn’t received the seller’s solicitor’s emails, causing two extra weeks of delay. After finally admitting it was due to their own IT issues, they didn’t take responsibility and kept stalling. We had to chase the solicitor again to ask why the case wasn’t closed, only to hear excuses about a "basic contract" that his supervisor didn’t approve—information we only learned by chasing them.

Throughout this nightmare, I received three separate invoices, and I had issues with every single one of them. The first invoice was particularly frustrating. They included a charge for “one hour of personal attendance for taking initial instructions,” but I had only a 30-minute consultation, which had already been invoiced and paid for separately. After I raised this issue, JMR acknowledged the mistake and promised to amend the bill. Despite this, when I received the third invoice, the same error was still there. They charged me again for the extra hour, which had already been corrected. This made me question their billing practices—either they don’t genuinely charge by the hour or they are incredibly careless with their accounting. How else could they justify charging for an additional hour of consultation that never took place? This demonstrated a lack of professionalism and a tendency to overcharge clients.

Additionally, I requested evidence of the emails they claimed to have sent, which was never provided. I manually counted the emails, and the number didn’t match the charges on my invoice. For example, they charged £17.70 per email, and even a discrepancy of 10 emails would mean an extra £177. Despite repeatedly asking for clarification, they never provided any proof or explanation. My internal complaint, submitted weeks ago, has been completely ignored.

This is a dishonest firm that overcharges and drags out the process for as long as possible to maximise their hourly fees. The fact that they charged me for their own IT issues and internal mistakes is absurd. Even after the contract was finally signed on September 9th, as of today, October 5th, I am still waiting for my deposit to be refunded.

Since September 6th, I have tried to raise an internal complaint, but received no response. Their handling of my case was completely unprofessional. I urge anyone considering JMR Solicitors to stay away!

I wish I hadn't chosen them

Instructed JMR through Millenium Legal back in February (nearly 5 months ago) on an uncomplicated house purchase with no chain on our end that still hasn’t completed. Our experience has been terrible.

We have been passed around several different members of staff, some of which were fired during the process, alongside internal reports of email phishing, which we found very concerning.

We currently have only a few weeks left before we lose our mortgage offer, and no visible progress is being made. We often struggle to receive replies to emails and are also struggling to get in contact with our case handler.

We feel like we are very likely to lose our mortgage offer even though this is a simple purchase. The whole process has been incredibly stressful, and we wish we had not chosen them.

All I can say is - stay away for your own good! It's not worth the stress. Even if it only cost £1 to use this solicitors, I would still avoid at all cost.

Shocking

JMR solicitors have been awful!!!!! No chain involved in sale or purchase and still ongoing 5 months down the line. Lost count how many case handlers I’ve had….. now to be told another has left!!!!! Unbelievable. Can’t get anyone to call back when promised. No consideration for people and the impact their incompetence has on lives. Avoid at all costs.

Please read this before deciding to…

Please read this before deciding to have JMR act for you.

If you want a lifetime worth of stress and anxiety crammed into the time you are associated with JMR, then by all means, instruct them to work for you.

JMR is a circus with a revolving entrance.

I have been in a conveyancing process for 19 weeks now. I have had 4 different case workers (2 were sacked and the other appears to have vanished of the face of the earth) so I am onto my 4th!

I spent the first 10 weeks getting hardly anything from my case worker except unanswered emails and phone calls! She was subsequently sacked with the head of the firm stating "she wasn't doing what was best for the clients". Understatement!
Week 11: Second person I got, I appeared to be getting somewhere, when out the blue he was also sacked!

Week 12: My case was handed to the 'head of conveyancing'. At this point there was 1 enquiry left to deal with then dates could begin to be discussed.

6 weeks later and still no further along, except a few emails back and forth between the chain solicitors! Now my case handler is AWOL with no explanation of why and when I call the office I am told "she is not available right now"!

Weeks 18: Seems I have a new case handler. Also, the one enquiry that has been going on for the last 6-8 weeks has now been sorted BY MY BUYER’S SOLICITOR!
Basically, they couldn’t wait any longer so did their job for them! Unbelievable. 8 WEEKS TO DEAL WITH 1 ISSUE!

People throughout my chain are now threatening to pull out due to the MAJOR DELAYS caused by the failings of JMR.

Throughout all of this I have experienced hostility, rudeness and just shocking behaviour from almost everyone associated with JMR at some point or other. I have been inadvertently accused of harassment because I called 3 days in a row! I have been spoken to like something one would step in by THE PARTNER of the company when I complained!

I could go on and on and on about how JMR have failed throughout all of this process, which STILL IS NOT COMPLETE!!!
JMR are nothing short of horrendous.

I sincerely hope NO ONE has to experience what my wife and I have endured so far. So, with that being said, to anyone reading this, keep your money, keep your sanity and your stress levels to a minimum and go somewhere else.

Helpful and timely legal advice from JMR.

JMR reviewed my file after we were threatened with court action over surveyor's fees. The law firm who engaged the surveyor had gone into administration and the solicitors acting for the insurance company and surveyors had sent a debt collection agency to our door a few weeks before Christmas.
Our case was time sensitive and Ahmad Mohsin contacted the other party's solicitors and successfully claimed their costs from the insurer's.
When I contacted JMR I liked how calls were answered by the same person Mostafa who knew of our case and time wasn't wasted explaining the reason for the call. He was also really good when returning calls and clarifying points by email.
Thanks!

JMR Solicitors were instructed to help…

JMR Solicitors were instructed to help with the purchase of a new home, however they have been absolutely dreadful and the property purchase is still ongoing 6 months after my offer was accepted, due to their complete lack of communication and proactiveness.

After making my offer in January I had around 2 weeks of communication with them until they received payment. Then almost 2 months passed before myself or the vendors solicitors heard anything even after chasing every single day. We were completely ignored by the team and were told the solicitor would get back to us but never did.

I was then told via email that all 3 solicitors working on my case had been dismissed after a disciplinary and that any emails I received from them asking for money should be ignored. I was finally sent an email by a new solicitor at JMR who said that the case would now be urgently worked on. Almost 3 weeks have passed and myself and the vendors solicitors can, yet again, not get hold of anyone or get an update.

I have worked in estate agency for several years and have never seen a worse case of communication and negligence by a solicitor.

The vendor is now putting the property back on the market in a couple of weeks so I have essentially lost the sale due to both parties poor communication and lack of awareness.

I would never use JMR again or recommend them to anybody. This has been the most stressful process I have ever encountered and the team can’t even seem to respond to an email or give any form of update. Do NOT use JMR.

Extremely disappointing

Update- 1 star (would be zero if possible), Monday 1st July

Since my last update there has been zero progress towards the finalisation of my house purchase. My formal complaint has been acknowledged via telephone, yet nothing has been done to address my concerns. I am now intending to take this case to the legal ombudsman as I am extremely worried that JMR's incompetency and failure to progress/complete the transaction will result in the purchase falling through.

I strongly advise anyone who is looking for conveyancing services to stay well away from this firm.

Update - 1 star, Friday 24th May
After the promising reaction to my initial review, it seems as though my hope and trust were misplaced with JMR. At present, the sellers solicitors returned their responses to contract enquiries on the 10th May - I have not received any updates or responses from JMR since this (apart from being notified that the person handling my case has changed -this will be the second time such changes have been made). I have now issued a formal complaint with the firm, updates to follow.
‐---------------
Update - 3 stars, Monday 22nd April.

After posting my initial review I was contacted very promptly by the Office Manager, who was very apologetic, proactive, and professional regarding my experience to date. I appreciated their reassurance and efforts in reassigning my case to another employee so that I might be updated more urgently. As promised over the phone, I received an email update in the agreed timeline, as well as copies of my contract pack and search documentation. This was very reassuring and consequently rebuilt my confidence and trust in JMR. I will update this review with a final, overall rating and feedback upon completion.

-----------------
Original review - 1 star, Thursday 18th April.

I am currently in the process of purchasing a house and thus far, my experience with JMR has been extremely disappointing. Despite my efforts to reach out for updates and assistance, there has been little to no response from them. This lack of communication has left me feeling extremely anxious and unsure about the progress of my purchase. It's very frustrating and upsetting to be left in the dark during such an important transaction. As it currently stands, I have paid for a service which I have recieved no evidence of being carried out (they were assigned in late January, it is now mid-April).

I had really hoped for better service, professionalism, and clearer communication throughout the process, and I hope the company endeavors to improve this going forward.

As such, I would caution others to consider their lack of responsiveness and communication before choosing this firm for their conveyancing needs.

Could not recommend them more!

Buying my first home as someone with no idea what to do and where to go, JMR Solicitors exceeded my every expectation.

Ramish Noon supported me every step of the way and went above and beyond in breaking things down as someone with little to no knowledge when it comes to buying a property.

I can honestly say as a client I felt completely safe in Ramish’s hands. I would not hesitate to recommend Ramish and JMR if you want a personal, professional and efficient service with property. Thank you so so much JMR Solicitors for helping me make my dream come true!

This is a very serious and hard-working…

This is a very serious and hard-working group of solicitors and maybe the reason why they are so conscious and shows is because they are women!
We could never meet up because we live abroad so everything was dealt with from remoter with great professionality and always keeping us on the loop of any delay. We wish them all the best for the future and we are sure they are we will keep being successful. We couldn’t be more fortunate to have had the opportunity to have their services available to us.
