We have booked John for our wedding next year but have recently had our engagement photo shoot with him and we cannot recommend enough! We were really nervous going into it but John made us feel really comfortable and made it very easy. We’ve just had the gallery back and couldn’t be more pleased with it. Special mention to his lovely daughter as well who was great at the photoshoot as well. Can’t wait for John to photograph our wedding now!

Gives prices up front which was one of the main selling points. Utterly professional, extremely competent and knowledgeable, and seemingly totally invisible. Didn't notice him at all when he was capturing the day. Made us feel completely comfortable when taking the posed photos (great coach for a photo shy couple) the guests only had good things to say about him. The photos themselves are breathtaking and the care and effort put into the final products shows. thank you for capturing the day for us

Thank you, John! If we could give you a million stars, we would! We are beyond thrilled with our wedding photos—they’re absolutely perfect! But even better than the photos was the experience of taking them. You made the whole process so much fun that we completely forgot we were supposed to be “posing.”

You were incredibly accommodating with all our guests, making sure everyone felt comfortable and had a great time. Somehow, you managed to keep the energy up, the smiles natural, and the awkwardness at zero. We don’t know how you did it, but you made even the most camera-shy among us feel like pros!

And when we received our wedding photo gallery—wow. It was like stepping right back into that magical day. Every laugh, every happy tear, every little moment was captured so beautifully that we felt like we were reliving it all over again.

My husband and I married back in August 2024 at The Ravenswood and without a doubt, John would be our choice every single time. Thanks to John, we have over 1000 pictures of our special day to look back on. Being able to go back and relive the day, and also see parts of the day that we did not see has been truly wonderful.
We booked John well in advance (and I'd suggest you to do the same as well!) but what was really nice was that John reached out to say that another couple had enquired and he wanted to let us know first before proceeding with them. This was a really lovely thing to do, as business is business, but we would have been gutted to have lost John as our photographer. Then, spending the next 14 months seeing the weddings he was capturing really reassured us that we were in safe hands.
On the lead up to the wedding, John touched base with us and we had our pre-wedding Zoom call. We spoke about what we wanted from the photographs, and in what order we wanted people to be photographed. Some advice, be brutal on your photograph groupings; we wanted lots of different groups of people in various photographs but we had to narrow these down, and I'm so pleased we did (thanks to John's sound knowledge and advice) otherwise we would've missed people out, which we wanted to avoid at all costs.
On the day, John mingled and SO many of our guests said to us that he was just like another guest, but with two cameras hanging round his neck! The banter, the laughter, the jokes - everything and more that we wanted from our photographer. John also took Ellie from Candidly Caught under his wing and supported her with what we wanted on the day as well; a dream duo!
Whilst on our own with John and Ellie, John guided us through different shots - a selfie at home in front of a mirror, or before a night out, is very different to having your photo professionally taken in front of guests, or in a specific location like a wedding venue. We were so grateful to John for working with us and supporting us with this.
We received our album earlier than we expected, and not one day has gone by where we have not looked at them. The quality is fantastic, and we are already planning on what photos are being printed and put up around our home.
We will be forever grateful to John, thank you John x

“Lovely guy on the day but left extremely disappointed with the final gallery. A lot of crucial moments throughout the day were missed, moments we’ll never have the chance to look back on. Key family members and the bridal party were hardly focused on at all. For example, I don’t have a single photo with my mum, Nan, or bridesmaids during the process of getting ready. Unless you are using one of his “favourite” locations, don’t bother. Very disappointed!”

Since posting the above review on Facebook, John has responded publicly, shifting blame onto everyone and everything but himself. Privately, however, he admitted in an email that he missed the crucial mother-daughter photo because “I wasn’t in the room when this was happening. I came up at the last minute and got what I could—perhaps check with the videographers.” This was because he did not return to the room when he said he would. What’s frustrating is that he was in the room and managed to capture my hairdresser putting on my veil and my mum helping me with something. However, those photos are unusable—my mum’s eyes are half-open, and the composition is poor. This shows a lack of care and attention to detail at a critical moment.

We contacted John privately to express our concerns, but he was incredibly rude. His public response only reinforced his refusal to take responsibility, instead blaming our choice of venue, its size, and the fact we used a different videographer. This level of unprofessionalism is shocking—especially as he blocked both my husband and me on Facebook after replying to our review and even “angry-faced” it. A professional should take constructive feedback gracefully, but John’s behavior has been anything but. It’s also worth noting that while he boasts a 4.8-star rating, it’s suspicious that all visible reviews are 5 stars. We’ve since realized that he deletes and blocks those who leave anything less than glowing feedback. Had we noticed this pattern earlier, we would never have hired him.

What’s most heartbreaking is that our wedding album lacks standard photos we specifically requested. Key moments that were missed or poorly executed include:
• Mother and daughter final touches before the ceremony: John claims he wasn’t in the room, yet other photos prove he was. This moment was completely overlooked.
• Photos taken on the day but no longer in the gallery: John showed us these photos during the day, yet now claims they don’t exist, essentially accusing us of lying.
• Photos with my maid of honor or bridesmaids: There isn’t a single usable photo of just me with them. He blamed this on the bridal party “just sitting down.”
• Guest reactions during the ceremony and breakfast: None were captured. He blamed this on the venue and the videographer.
• The first dance twirl: John specifically asked us to include a twirl during our first dance, but he failed to capture it.

Before the wedding, we invited John to visit the venue to discuss photo locations. He insisted on a video call instead, which is now evident in the results. His excuse that our venue’s size hindered him is unacceptable and undermines the trust we placed in him.

John, you could have taken responsibility and resolved this privately, but you chose to double down, deflect blame, and dismiss our concerns. Each time we look at our album, we are reminded of what’s missing, and it’s deeply upsetting. Your unprofessionalism and refusal to admit fault have only added to our disappointment. Future couples deserve to know the risks of hiring you.

A massive thank you goes to John and Warren who really contributed to making our day so special and they captured it beautifully. Several guests commented how good they were and we ourselves were very impressed with the both of them - they were the perfect balance of professional and fun. They got on very well with the rest of the Ravenswood staff and the hair and makeup team, which helped move everything along seamlessly. They were very familiar with the venue so knew exactly where to get the best shots. We felt very at ease with them and are really pleased with the photos and videos - they really brought back the emotions of the day. It has been very difficult trying to choose our favourite shots for the photobook but we wait to see it! We have already recommended them to our friends who have just got engaged. Thank you so much. John was absolutely amazing from start to finish, the build up to the wedding he took the time to meet with us and went through the whole day. What can I say except our experience was absolutely amazing. My husband found John on Instagram and booked him without even asking me because he knew John was the one! ... and WOW wasn't he right! John is honestly incredible at what he does. He's warm, welcoming, calming. Makes the whole experience fun and exciting! Our photos came out better than we ever could have imagined and if we ever renew our vows we will pick John as our photographer again in a heart beat! Thank you so much John! Not sure what else we can say that people haven't already said!

From the start John was fantastic, easy to communicate with and very prompt with his responses. Neither my husband or I enjoy our photos being taken, for the most part of the day we didn't even know he was there. When it came to group photos and photos of just the two of us he made us so relaxed and at ease. He was also very conscious of me getting cold given it was the 21st December!

Very grateful for him stopping his food to quickly run and grab the most beautiful sunset photos during the meal.

Our photos are amazing, and it's been so enjoyable to relive the day at each point, when the final photos were ready and when we've recently collected our photo album.

We feel so lucky that we had the pleasure of having John photograph our wedding. There is a reason John gets booked up fast! I didn’t feel the need to check out loads of photographers, from speaking to John first time, he was so professional but also has such a friendly personality and puts you at ease, it just felt right. The main reason we wanted to go with John is because of his familiarity with Ravenswood, our wedding venue. It’s literally his second home! This meant that on the day our photos were swiftly and smoothly organised and John knew all the best places for some beautiful shots and has a lovely repour with all of the staff and other suppliers. John took care of everything and ran us through exactly what would be happening. He kept in contact with us regularly during the lead up to the big day and had a video call, we felt in very safe hands with John.
On the day John became so much more than just our photographer. As well as zooming around the place taking amazing photos and being very subtle (so we ended up with all sorts of fantastic candid photos that we didn’t even notice John taking!) John helped out with all sorts of things, from holding my dress, liaising with other suppliers, sending messages, he worked well in tandem with our videographer and had us laughing and feeling at ease all day long. We are so grateful to John as neither my husband or I are that comfortable around cameras but John made the whole experience so relaxed and enjoyable. He genuinely made our day better just by being part of it.
So many of our guests commented on how great John was.
As for the finished photos, John got these back to us not long after our wedding and I still can’t get over how beautiful all of them are. He photographed everything we asked for and more. His natural, candid style is exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Not only are his photos incredible but he is professional, knows his stuff, polite, nothing was ever too much trouble and just a general all round great guy. We would 100% recommend John and it was a pleasure to have him capture our day. Thank you once again John.

What can I say about John... From taking the time to have a chat before the event to helping with some last-minute stitching, John was not only a fantastic photographer but also a great support throughout our wedding day. He consistently checked in and seized every opportunity to capture those essential wedding day snaps.

John has a very kind, funny, and supportive way about him, making everyone feel comfortable and at ease. His top-class photography work was evident, and we can't wait to see the final product!

John was 11/10. We are so honoured and grateful he was the one to shoot our big day.
We are not ones for pictures, so trust me when I say he had his work cut out for him - I never doubted his skill or talent but he really didn’t have much to work with. But he has honestly given us pictures that we will treasure for a lifetime. He is truly amazing at what he does. He is so genuine that after an hour, you feel like a friend is with you. Once he was done for the night and said goodbye, I can honestly say it was sad to see him go.
John will forever be such a key part of our day and someone we will remember forever, in nothing but good ways.
You always have things you would change, tweak or do different on your wedding day but John was definitely not one of them.

Everything we could have wanted from a photographer and more!
From the very first message through to receiving our edited gallery the communication and professionalism was excellent!
He made us feel so relaxed and the guests loved having him capture the special moments. There were times where we didn’t even realise he was there, which for us was testament to just how accomplished he is at his job.
We both really appreciated the jokes and laughter throughout the day which added to our ease and experience.

My wife was following John's work for a long time before our wedding. When it came to looking for a photographer there was no doubt he would be the right person for the job!

We had our zoom meetings and everything was carefully explained and he ran through exactly what the plan would be on the day.

When looking for our wedding photographer we loved the look of John’s work. We had a zoom meeting with John a couple of weeks before the wedding to talk things through and it was clear he was already very prepared and was so helpful. On the wedding day John was absolutely fantastic, he was approachable and friendly, he had everything very well planned out with timings and helped to make the day go smoothly ensuring every special moment was captured. He was very professional but also fun and we had lots of laughs. All of our guests had great things to say about him and were very impressed. John captured our wedding in October 2023. We found John on the Ravenswood supplier list. After checking his website and social media, we knew right away we would love to have him at our wedding. When after booking, we decided to have our ceremony in London, communication was easy to agree on a plan that would have worked for all. On the wedding day, John was very professional, organised and efficient. You can tell he is the best at what he does as he captured everything while keeping everyone at ease. As for many, the day felt intense yet went fast, thus we were looking forward to receiving the wedding gallery. We were truly amazed by John’s work! The pictures all look lovely, he was great at capturing so many precious moments. We were worried as it rained during the couples photoshoot. However, John’s incredible skills resulted in impressive pictures! We are so happy we booked John, and forever grateful he has given us beautiful pictured memories we can look back on. Time to leave John his well deserved review.. we have just received our final images and wow, what wonderful photos we have to look back on.

We'll start from the beginning, John has been easily contactable, quick to respond and so lovely to work with.

On the day he made everyone feel so comfortable, my now husband and in laws still talk about how personable and friendly John was on the day, making everyone feel at ease, while also blending in and half the time we didn't even notice he was there!

John explained our time frame on the day, where he'd be and when, what photos he was going to try to get, and this helped our day to flow naturally. He took into consideration our small children, getting the photos that included them early on so they could run off and play.

I was worried that the family photos would be difficult to gather everyone together and that it would take up too much of the drinks reception, but John was armed with his list of what pictures we wanted, and it was over before we knew it!

John is well loved and recommended at our wedding venue. And we can see why! He has a great relationship with the staff there and he played such a big part on our day going smoothly. He is so well organised, so professional, and so friendly, he felt like he was one of our guests!

We were thrilled to receive a preview of some photos of the day as we were leaving for our honeymoon, and the rest of the photos we received I have lost count of how many times I've looked through them! Really really happy and we are so glad we booked with John
