Shocking customer service
Arranged a waterside apartment for a friends 40th birthday, whole experience start to finish was a disaster. Apartment was cancelled just hours before we were due to arrive with numerous excuses given, alternative apartment offered without a view and was told it was more expensive but was offered an insulting 5% discount. We had no choice but to take apartment, upon arrival, waited half a hour to be met by a young boy in a hoodie who handed us a plastic bag with keys in. The apartment itself can’t be faulted. Next morning we get called at 9.50am by the boy saying he is downstairs and we need to leave (bearing in mind check out is 11am). After rushing out, this boy was no where to be seen, numerous phone calls back and forth, it turns out he was at the original apartment, this took around 2 hours to resolve. In the space of 24 hours I had nearly 30 calls from this company sorting out all the mistakes, the last call was a promise to look into the errors and call me back, to this day I’ve never heard from them again. I’ve noticed other reviews have picked up on poor customer service, it’s a shame they have not dealt with this as I absolutely would not use them again nor would I recommend them. Our trip was ruined and not a single apology was received.
As per their reply below, I have not had a single call from them offering any kind of compensation, and no Covid is not a good enough excuse, that’s just an easy way out of a poor service

We regret to hear about the inconveniences that you experienced with us. I assure you that this is not our standard level of service.
I was able to investigate the matter and found out that you stayed with us 2 months ago. I know that this is not an excuse, but this was the time when we were experiencing a sudden and extreme shortage on staff due to different illnesses, including COVID. I apologize for this.
We did try to call 3 - 4 times to offer compensation, to rectify the situation and collect the keys. But I understand if the experience has really painted our service bad and you would refuse to answer our calls afterwards.
Our team now is very different than we were 2 months ago. We are complete, healthier and ready to give you our best service. It would be our pleasure to invite you again to stay in any of our properties as we have several in our portfolio. Please give our service another chance and I am sure you won't regret it.

Great experience!
The apartment was very clean as all the reviews said, but the previous tenants had not washed the cutlery and dishware properly. The dishwasher also smelled sort of funky. The living room could also use a pair of curtains/blinds. Apart from that, great location and both the check-in and check-out were super smooth.

Such a lovely apartment
Such a lovely apartment! We stayed for one night and it was just perfect. We were going to diggerland with my son and it was no more than a 15 minute drive away, the view from the apartment was lovely and it was very clean and tidy just what we needed! We would certainly come back again!

This place was really nice
This place was really really nice, very clean, safe parking (garage) and beautiful view of both sunrise and sunset. However, before check-in there are many forms to fill in and handover of key somewhat complicated. Without that, the flat would be perfect.

Really nice spacious three bedroom house . Very clean very modern everything in its place very quiet. The bathroom is downstairs which was difficult for someone in our party. The parking was also difficult.

Place was very clean but bad experience!
Place was very clean and decent location but staff were unhelpful and have caused issues with my bank by taking the £250 holding deposit and not cancelling it correctly. 8 days since I rented their property and the £250 deposit charge is still being held in my bank despite numerous efforts to contact them and them saying it had already been cancelled. Also they would not let us check in 8 minutes early and wanted £50 early check in fee, despite the property only costing £67 for the whole evening! Madness!

We are sorry to hear about this. We tried our best to assist you however once we have released the deposit from our end, we no longer have any control as to when your bank will reflect the reversal. Please note that this was not a charge but just an authorization in our end. As for your check in time, we would allow guest to check in a few minutes earlier for free unless the property is not yet ready. If the cleaning is still not done, we advise guests to stick with the 4pm check in time as agreed in the policy if no early check in request was pre arranged.

My reservation was cancelled one hour…
My reservation was cancelled one hour before I was due to check in, this happened despite receiving a confirmation email with key pick up details one hour before!! I was left stranded and incurred substantial costs finding somewhere to stay. I was given conflicting reasons as to why the booking was cancelled, Covid in the property and that the previous guest caused damage meaning the appartment could not be let. Appalling communication throughout the whole process. Sorry to say I will not be using this company again.

We were a long way from home, working long hours and Ironmonger House was lovely to come back to each evening!
