Scammers! £2,200 spent on a faulty sofa
£2,200 spent on a sofa that was delivered four months late. After only two months, it is ripped and torn, and they blocked my phone number after I sent them photos on WhatsApp.
Also scammed
As is the case with many other recent reviewers I have spent thousands and have no sofa/ refund/ communication. I have reported this company to action fraud, the owner, Murtaza Ahmed Aslam, seems to open and dissolve companies frequently, fraudulent individual scamming people out of money. What a despicable individual- I’ll make sure he is prosecuted and stopped from opening any more companies/ scamming people.
**I’d urge anyone else who has been scammed by this company to report via action fraud on: www. actionfraud.police . uk
It would help to quote my report reference number: NFRC240906901372 to build a stronger case and make sure the owner is penalised.**
Complete Scam- don't use
Complete Scam.
Money taken, website down, emails & phone number not delivering.
£3k down.
SCAM?
Can anyone help with some information on this company? Our order totalled nearly £6k and we've had no contact for weeks. Website down, instagram down number down.
The product should have been delivered weeks ago.
I have been an interior designer for…
I have been an interior designer for seven years and currently manage three furnished rental properties. Through this experience, I have dealt with numerous furniture companies, but my experience with this particular company has been the worst by far.
I placed an order for a bed, making it explicitly clear, both via message and over the phone, that I required the bed no later than July 26th. On July 20th, I contacted the company for an update and was assured that the bed was ready and scheduled for delivery on the 26th. However, on July 25th, I was informed that the bed had been collected. When I contacted the delivery company, they advised that they had no instructions to collect the bed.
Upon reaching out to Lewis & Co again, I was told that the bed had not even been completed. Despite having been assured that the bed would be delivered by the next day, this turned out to be false. With tenants arriving imminently, I was promised by a representative that a replacement bed would be arranged and that I would receive a call the next day to confirm. That call never came. Four days later, I was informed that the bed was now ready and would be collected the following day. However, upon contacting the delivery company again, I was told the bed was still not available for collection. This back-and-forth continued for three more days before the bed was finally delivered.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that the bed did not fit the provided measurements. I requested that the delivery team leave the rest of the bed, as only the headboard was problematic. However, they informed me that they had been instructed to return the entire bed for the headboard to be adjusted, and that I would be contacted on Monday to reschedule delivery. On Monday, I had to initiate contact, only to be told conflicting information about whether the bed should have been left with me. The representative then claimed the bed was still in the delivery company's possession, which the delivery company denied.
When I inquired about the headboard adjustment, I was informed that the design could not be split, despite the listing stating otherwise. Having worked in design for many years, I know that headboards are typically split at the base, where it is concealed by the mattress. After providing detailed measurements and videos, I was told the headboard should fit, and that the bed would be delivered again. However, the delivery company once more informed me that they did not have the bed, contradicting Lewis & Co’s earlier claims.
After numerous unreturned calls and messages, I was told that the bed would be delivered immediately, yet no action was taken by the end of the day. Furthermore, the company promised to reimburse us for the replacement bed we had to purchase, but we have yet to receive any reimbursement.
Update: I was the headboard was being remade - waited a month, a called for a status update after one month and was told the headboard would be with me that week. And the end of that week they text me to say they’d need more money to remake the headboard so the head board hadn’t even been remade! They just left me to wait for a month. So I said to return the bed I was told the bed was going to be booked in for a collection along with compensation. I waited 3 weeks, no one came to collect the bed and now they just Ignore my calls and messages and I’ve now had to raise a dispute with my bank.
Btw they previously asked me to remove this review and they would get everything sorted. As soon as I removed the review they were back to their same old tricks.
In summary, if you are a landlord, business owner, interior designer, or anyone working with deadlines, I strongly advise against using this company. The mismanagement and lack of communication throughout this process have been unacceptable. I had even considered their products for a new project, but after this experience, I will certainly be looking elsewhere.
Deceitful Business Practices and Terrible Customer Service
We purchased a bed from Lewis & Sons specifically because the website stated it was 216cm in length, which was crucial as we needed a bed under 220cm in length in order to be able to open and use our fitted wardrobes. Upon arrival, the bed was not only 20cm longer but also 31cm wider than advertised. This caused major issues as we were in the middle of moving into our home, and my wife was 8 months pregnant at the time. Due to this error, we've not been able to properly access our wardrobe to organize our clothes, leaving our home in disarray during an already stressful time.
On July 14th, we sent an email to Lewis & Sons with clear evidence: images of the incorrect bed measurements and screenshots from their website showing the incorrect dimensions. They admitted fault and assured us they'd fix the issue, saying they'd keep us updated. For two months, we've had no real update despite us chasing them repeatedly and now they've stopped responding and answering calls altogether. All while trying to care for a newborn after my wife had a c-section, we were still unable to properly use our bedroom because of the bed blocking access to our wardrobe.
Finally, we raised the issue with Pay It Monthly, who were a breath of fresh air compared to Lewis & Sons' disgraceful service. Pay It Monthly contacted them on our behalf, urging them to follow up with us after weeks of radio silence. What we didn't expect was for Lewis & Sons to backtrack and lie, claiming the dimensions were correct all along. However, we had kept all the evidence, including screenshots of their website before they conveniently took it down.
We have everything we need to prove the deceitful behavior of this company. We will be taking further action to ensure others do not suffer the same treatment.
Do yourself a favor and avoid Lewis & Sons at all costs. Their customer service is non-existent, they lie to cover their mistakes, and they have no problem causing severe inconvenience to families during critical moments.
**0/5** – Avoid at all costs.
Awful
Awful! Have ordered sofa meant to delivered weeks ago,and now can get no correspondence, website down instagram all pages gone, emails not responding phone numbers not responding. Has this company went into liquidation or something?no sofa money probably gone as well. Stay away from this company
Scamming business
Would give 0 if possible. I waited over 12 weeks for an armchair to be delivered. When delivery was finally arranged (after them trying to palm it off for me to arrange with a 3rd party delivery company), it was the incorrect chair. The delivery company would not load it back on the van and told me to take it up with Lewis & Sons who responded initially to say they will let me know when it will be sorted, then have proceeded to ghost me thereafter. I have called, whatsapped and emailed to no avail. I will be proceeding down the legal route now. The chair wasn’t cheap and isn’t what I ordered and the company doesn’t seem to care. Appalling customer service. I seem to now have also been blocked from social media and shock horror, their website is inaccessible. Absolute scam artists
No refund yet and my messages have been ignored!
**UPDATED**(04/10/2024)
I haven't heard back from Action Fraud but I did open a claim with PayPal and escalated it. They reclaimed the money and I just saw the amount being returned to my AmEx.
**UPDATED**(21/09/2024) I opened a case with Action Fraud as suggested by other reviewers. As mentioned by others the business changed names, registered address. As per today, there's no more Instagram profile and website which can accessed. I'll keep checking!

I purchased a sofa back in mid May, the customer service on WhatsApp seemed very polite and helpful. I made my order confidently, knowing the delivery time was specified as 4-6 weeks.
During the summer I started receiving communications around the delay, with continuously moving milestones, the promise of a complimentary care kit which never arrived. With about 2+ months delay on the expected delivery and various chase emails to which I received pretty raw and dry answers to (the pre sale politeness was gone) the sofa was ready to be delivered. Unfortunately on the day of the delivery the 2 men (from delivery partner) acknowledged the sofa wouldn’t pass through the doors/stairs as it comes in 1 piece and therefore there was no way to deliver. I immediately contacted them to get a refund and I was asked for my bank account details etc. (September 2nd) but since then (September 4th) my emails and WhatsApp messages have been ignored. I guess I’m left with the option to open a credit card or PayPal claim but I wonder why they wouldn’t refund me. Such a stressful, disheartening and unnecessary draining purchasing and return experience. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this company. I’d like to know if other customers experienced this!
despite ordering my sofa almost 3…
despite ordering my sofa almost 3 months ago, chasing updates getting emails back saying logistic issues and will be intouch. Only yesterday got an update saying that they are chasing the shipping company , today received an email saying that they are going into liquidation and to contact the bank for further instructions on how to get my money back which is over GBP 2000.00 - not happy at all feel sick !!!!
SCAM - company has gone into liquidation
Ordered on the 3rd July, after getting suspicious regarding the reviews going bad & “delays in shipping” i tried to get in contact & they started ignoring me. Now received an email saying the company is going into liquidation. Iv had to contact my bank to try and retrieve my money back (almost 2 thousand pound).
AVOID THIS COMPANY
Adding a review on top to warn…
Adding a review on top to warn potential buyers that the company or whoever it is has a way of putting good reviews on top. Don't fall for it - Its def a *SCAM* - Scroll down for a really authentic experience and many many angry people. A police case is being build as we speak. Don't hesitate to do the same: on the website reporting.actionfraud.police.
Avoid this company, it's a fraud.
Similar to other people in this thread - I've become victim of this fraud. After reviewing initially very positive Trustpilot reviews in July/August and having contact with them regarding delivery times, it seemed to be a legit company. Therefore, I decided to order #2292 my sofa on the 25th of August, and initially had some friendly back & forth regarding my order.
Since Thursday the 12th of September they've gone completely quiet. In the 2x weeks prior they either ignored my (20) messages and (30) phone calls or gave me an excuse why they couldn't speak (it was lunchtime, they had a customer in their showroom (they don't have one)).
Doing some further digging - this company is a fraud. They claim the products are 'their design', while I was able to find the sofas they claim to be their designs on other websites, for better prices. They steal images and designs, and claiming it to be theirs. My assumption is, this is a one-man fraudulent drop-shipping business (explains the horrible delivery service/timelines), and they've not been able to deal with the influx of incoming orders and/or source their products with a sufficient margin.
While ignoring what appears to be a lot of customers, they did change their Registered Office Address to that of an accountant's office on the 17th of September (interesting timing - maybe they don't want to be found?)
I don't have high hopes they will respond, so will take this to my credit card company, as well as report this fraudulent company.
Update
Further update on 23rd Sept: my credit card company successfully refunded me the money, they acted very quickly which I’m very happy
about. I think banks might be able to do debit card refund if they know it’s fraud/scam. Do speak to your banks, you might just get your money back especially after Lewis and Sons emailed that they have ceased to operate as a business and to contact your bank for chargeback.
Update on 18th Sept: I reported my case to the action fraud team, they have replied and said they are investigating the case and my report has been sent to national fraud intelligences bureau for review. If you can also do the same and report your case to the action fraud team, it will give them more vital information to investigate this company. I have also contacted my credit card company which I used to pay for the order.
Update: I left comments on their Instagram and only the next day saw my comments had been removed. I can no longer get in touch using their phone number, WhatsApp messages undelivered and still no reply to all emails.
Found the company detail on company house (company registration number 14291242), the “director” started and dissolved a number of businesses in a space of a few years, evident of how dodgy this person/company is, please watch out! I’m going to do everything I can to get my money back.
COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT ORDER
Complete scam. Dont order from this company most the negative reviews are the exact same scenario as me. Ordered a sofa for over £2k. They replied with whatsapp and email when I made the order then communication slowly got worse and now been totally ignored for a week. Reached out on everything instagram, whatsapped, called the whatsapp number, called the other number, called the director and emailed. Have had 4 different people instagram messaging me about being in the same situation. Honestly disgusted in this behaviour and now having to let my clients down. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM
I think it’s safe to say Lewis & Sons…
I think it’s safe to say Lewis & Sons have committed fraud. If you’re reading this and waiting add to the negative reviews to prevent others going through the same. Contact your banks to reverse the transaction. Report to action fraud. Report to the trading standards. A few of us are going up to Leeds this week. Even managed to get the “owners” number and he isn’t answering neither. Such a shame as this could have been a 10/10 business. To just decide to take peoples money is mind blowing. Will report back once we’ve visited the addresses associated with their company house.
One star is too generous…
One star is too generous… our sofa was ordered at the start of June and still has not arrived. We’ve had no delivery updates for over a month, we’ve been completely blanked by email, their phone number goes straight to voicemail, their WhatsApp number has been turned off and they’ve disabled comments on their Instagram posts. To make matters worse I’m heavily pregnant and have no sofa in my home despite constantly being reassured at the start that it was coming. Avoid at all costs and go elsewhere.
Bed order placed three weeks ago
Bed order placed three weeks ago. They were not even able to deliver requested samples within this time frame.
I requested order cancellation, noone is getting back to me and their number is going straight to an automated voicemail service.
This is very worrying!!!
