I think long and hard before leaving a…

I think long and hard before leaving a negative review, I know just how detrimental a poor review can be to a small business. But in this instance I truly believe it is in the best interests of potential customers to know my negative experience, where do I begin.. £62.50+VAT per half hour was quoted, which is at the top end of the rates for a qualified tradesmen. But if you get a good professional it might be worth paying for if you need a quick turnaround. In this situation you are paying top dollar for a very poor tradesman.

His son the apprentice was a nice lad

He attended within 4 days of me posting the job and was pleasant over message

Cons

£281 for 80 minutes work to change a stop cock is outrageous. A fair wage for the trade is important but even if it was a full days work this would be expensive.

The initial problem was poor water pressure, this, even after £281 spent nothing has improved at all, The guy was sure it was the stop cock so like a dog with a bone went off on a tangent and did this although no resolution was made, Yes, I have a new stop cock, but NO nothing on the job description was solved.

His skill and ability lacked, he couldn’t fit a standard valve so had to cut out the side of my cupboard (he might as well used a sledge hammer for the damage he caused) and buy an ‘easy to fit’ alternative charging ME £56 parts for the pleasure. (Standard copper valve £8)

Made NO attempt to clean up. Cupboard was full of broken wood, parts, dust etc

Took apart outside tap, no only did not put back together but left it running, which unfortunately I didn’t notice until the next morning.

Basically moral of the story, if someone can attend at short notice BEWARE the chances are they haven’t got work for a reason. I definitely won’t be using again and can see why others have left such bad reviews on here also.

It’s a real shame as the details in your review are not a true reflection of what actually happened.

As you are aware we sent each other several messages which I am more than happy to show anyone reading this review, they confirm that you were saying that you need your stop cock changing because its ceased up. We didn’t just change this for no reason or because it was the only fixing solution, we changed it because we were asked to by you the customer. We actually managed to get 4bar of pressure from the outside tap which was great.

The previous tradesmen you had used to fix your kitchen tap (who you didn’t have any kind words to say about them either !!) had actually bent the flexi hoses when installing which was the reason your kitchen tap was not working correctly, every other tap checked was fine.

Its interesting that you didn’t mention in the review/ comments the difficulty in gaining access to your stop cock too which you send me a picture of which again I can show anyone who is interested, which in your own words said it was “it is a real pig to get to” and when I said bloody hell that’s awkward lol you replied “I know – bastard right. Sorry”. I had to lay through 2 cupboards to get to a tiny hole where the stop cock is, which by the way you can not see unless you get into the cupboard. Within that tight compact space I had to change a stop cock, not the simplest job for any experienced professional (pictures available upon request).

Overall we spend 2 and a half hours at your property, and deducted 1 hour off of our time off your bill for goodwill. We are a well established, hard working and fair company with a fantastic reputation across the Kent area, anyone can read our 5 star reviews across Google, Checkatrade, Trustatrader and many more sites including Trust Pilot. Our rate of £62.50 is a common and fair rate for a reactive service like ours, we are completely upfront about our costings so you are aware before we turn up and before we start any works.
