Fire & smoke damage claim
We had a small electrical fire in our single storey home last November which resulted in a lot of smoke damage & necessitated the disposal of everything in the living room. The smoke infiltrated every room so the whole place needed redecorating. In addition we couldn't stay in the house because of the terrible smell and toxicity of the environment. Lloyds bank insurance were top rate - one of their fields consultants quickly came out to assess the damage. As a result we were housed in rented accommodation for 6 months while the house was being thoroughly cleaned and redecorated. Some of our other furniture, our hundreds of books, decorative items, paintings were all taken away, cleaned and stored until we were able to return home. We also had a mechanical heat recovery system which needed to be replaced since its operation had been affected by the smoke damage. The process for claiming replacement items for those that were damaged was straightforward.
Our claim was handled by the same efficient, professional and caring consultant throughout. She was in regular contact to update us and check that we were ok; emails and queries were always responded to promptly. She made what was a difficult time as painless as possible for us.
