In short - found my missing cat using Loc8tor - does what it says on the box.

I ordered this GPS a few years ago, and i put it on my cat's collar. His collar fell off and we we're never able to locate it, even tho it had the GPS on it, so that fail #1.

Then a few years later, i decided i would give it a try on my dog, and it wasn't working at all. I went to the store and bought the new batteries for both the gps and the remote part. It still didn't work. Fail #2.

I emailed the company to tell them that it doesn't work & they replied to me that they wouldn't replace the lost piece, the broken remote or gps, and that they wouldn't issue me a refund. I just wanted a product that would actually help me locate whatever the gps is attached too, which this never did.

Whats the point of having a GPS if it doesn't actually locate anything?!

Awful Product. Awful Customer Service. Awful Company.

I bought our loca8tor from e-bay. The seller said it would require new batteries. When fitting the new batteries in the tag I noted that there was a + sign moulded inside, but this was the opposite orientation to the instruction book. I followed the instructions but the loc8tor still didn't work. I called Loc8tor & pointed out the discrepancy but they dismissed my information & said since I bought it second-hand it must have been modified by the previous owner! This despite my pointing out that the + sign was moulded in, i.e. it was from original manufacture. Seems like whoever wrote the book doesn't know which way round the batteries fit.
Anyway I reversed the batteries to coincide with the + sign & guess what? It works. So if you have trouble after fitting new batteries in the tag, look for the + sign & follow that.
So far the Loc8tor has been successfully used three times, once to find the cat stuck up a tree (she was after a Jackdaw's nest) & twice to find the collar when she had lost it.

This product (Loc8tor Lite) has helped us locate our cat in the strangest places, and has saved him from spending dangerous nights alone! Recently the product became faulty, and before the company had even received the defective product, they sent us a brand new one! You don't see customer service like that anymore! I cannot recommend this company enough to anyone with adventurous cats - the product is quality, and the service is fantastic.

I used a Xmas promotion code for free shipping, which allowed me to order with next day delivery. I recieved an email confirming next day delivery but guess what, it never turned up! No reply from an email enquiry so I called and was advised that the code only allowed 2 to 5 day standard shipping despite having an email stating next day delivery. Because I work away from home, I chose delivery to a location I would be at for the next day delivery. Because I will not be there again until after Xmas I will have to make a special trip to collect the item. It would have been good if Sales had advised me that they had changed delivery method and given me the opportunity to change the delivery location or cancel the order. I am very disappointed at the service - product still hasn't arrived despite ordering 3 days ago........

We have Loc8tor Pet for our 3 cats . 2 months ago one of them did not return for its evening meal nor the following morning . We eventually found him that afternoon hiding in some waste ground , having been badly mauled by a dog ; achilles tendon bitten in half , fractured pelvis and numerous badly infected bites . There was no way he was ever going to make it back on his own and it is likely that he would have died from the infection within 24 hours .

Thanks to Loc8tor he is now well on the way to recovery and learning how to walk again .

If thats not enough , when we had a problem with the device it was replaced with no fuss and within only 4 days . Thats what I call service .

I purchased this (4 pack) after my Bengal got out of my house and it took me (and about 8 other people) about 3 hours to find him. He has not got out since but 2 of my other cats have and I have been able to find them every time.

I have even used it to locate them inside my house when they are "hiding". It has been a life saver because I know if they get out I can and will find them.

We've had our Loc8tor for two years ,our cat was knocked down and without it we would never have found him or known what had happened to him.The tags are now on a cat and a dog.The Locator stopped working I emailed them ,they replied immediately with instructions how to check it.When that didn't work they asked me to return it with the tags.We got it back from them the next day repaired perfectly and no request for any payment.Their service has been unbelievable it is so good.This is an excellent product from an excellent company

Bought Loc8tor plus to help when my border terriers go into the hedge. The product is a waste of money, has a max range of about 150' in an open flat field and the direction indication can be 5 degrees out from the direct line of sight. We put falcon bells on them and the range is so poor I can hear the bell before the loc8tor finds the dogs signal. The electronics are very slow and if your dog wasn't sat still it could bite you on the leg before the gadget found it. Now trying to get hold of the company to get a 30 day refund but with no success, phone line goes to a message service which is full, think I can wave goodbye to the £100 it cost. The companies claims for this product are pure fantasy. I have given it one star simply because of a quick delivery.

My first pet lac8tor receiver stopped worked after a a few months or maybe less than 100 times of usage
I had always been happy with the range of the product and it was a great way to make sure the cat didn't wonder to far from home.
So I went and purchased another unit. The receiver lasted twice then stopped working.
Now the purpose of the device is to provide peace of mind when placed on your treasured pet. When the device proves to be unreliable time after time then I have to come to accept like many recent reviews suggest that the Pet Loc8tor is nothing short of a gimmick.

A measure of a good company is their ability to offer a workable solution. I would like to see a reply from Pet Loc8tor as to how they will provide me with 1/peace of mind my pet will be safe when using their product 2/back up their product with great service
Pet Loc8tor offer many glowing endorsements but the user is not finding the product lives up to the hyped expectations. The company has been around since 2004 so have had plenty of time to make improvements

My review advice is to stay clear of the product unless you see here a clear and reasonable response from Pet loc8tor

Order is late and recieved no response when i tried contacting them.

I purchased your Loc8tor Lite device several months back, and it has come in handier then practically anything I have bought on the internet. We have an 11 year old American Shorthair Tabby cat who has, for reasons known only to him, taken recently to going on walkabout for two days at a time. The Loc8tor has come in handy finding him more than once. It will un-erringly locate him if he's outdoors and no more than about 50 to 70 meters away in spite of all the houses around us. Of course, it's necessary to walk a little sometimes, but it's MUCH better than wearing ourselves out traipsing around looking for him. I would recommend this fine device to anyone with a wayward pet. It can save a great deal of time.

Even with the Splashguard in place, tag stops working upon having your dog in the wet grass.

I have changed the batteries on tags and on my hand set but the tags will not register to work. I have given up and conceded to buying the whole new set. Could be that my hand set is too old.

This is honestly the most remarkable product I have encountered. How you managed to pack all that functionality into such tiny packaging I'll never know. I've had mine for over 4 years now, and I've lost count of the number of times that my Lite has found where I'd left my keys or my wallet and averted the panic I used to experience. It really works well for me and is truly a life- (well, at least important possession-) saver.

The loc8tor is the best thing I have ever bought for my cats.
Where we live there are a lot of fields and woodland. The loc8tor lets me know that the cats are somewhere safe and not near the road.
Twice we have freed a cat locked in a garage, and also rescued a kitten stuck up a very big tree.
2 of the 3 cats come when they are buzzed. The other one rubs away, but at least we know where he is.
The only thing that would make it better is GPS. This would save me from roaming the fields lookingfor a signal and also help find lost collars which are usually deep in bramble bushes.

This product is very useful and works very well on short ranges.

The range is extremely horrible in the city. It can barely detect the tag if it is just on the other side of a neighbor's fence/wall. I can only use it to check if the pet is hiding inside the house. The only other good thing about this product is that the tag is small and lightweight and can be used on small pets. I would not rely on this product to help me find a lost pet in the city since I would have to be within 50 feet of the tag and go at a walking pace to detect anything. You cannot drive around and hope to pick up a signal because you would be going too fast to detect a signal if you go above 8mph.
It would be useful to pair this with a gps tracker. The gps tracker would hopefully get you to within a few meters of your pet, then the loc8tor can narrow down the pet's exact location once you are within 50 feet.
Overall, not recommended for pets with outdoor access in a city environment. The receiver detects the tag once the pet is already within eyesight. The signal range claimed by the company can only be achieved on a flat open field (farm environment).

we bought this to keep track of our lovely little tabby 'livvy' she had a habit of wandering not too far but enough to keep us on our toes, what did it was one night when it was really windy and we couldn't find her, after 4 hours of searching we found her in the next garden tucked up behind the wheelie bins sheltering from the high wind.. clearly scared..
had we had this tracker we could have found her very quickly and reduced the stress for livvy as well as for ourselves. we wouldn't be without this loc8tor now... it even gets livvy running for home when we press the loc8tor button... fantastic and worth every penny

The range is not as good as I'd like, particularly if there are trees, hedges or buildings between you and the wayward cat... If I could see the cat, I wouldn't really NEED the Loc8tor, now would I?
