Works exactly as specified and is extremely useful.
Only one criticism is that contrast was so low on screen I could not read, so unable to adjust. However phone call to company gave all the help needed to sort this out. Perhaps a note with equipment may help.

One of our cats has a health condition and if taken ill outdoors might not be able to get back home and the other we suspected of wandering too far, so we wanted to be able to find them. Took us a while to get the hang of using the Loc8tor correctly. The rubberised casing for the transmitter seems to catch easily and they frequently lose their safety collars. We use the receiver to retrieve the missing collars. Our biggest problem is the range of the loc8tor. We knew when we bought it that a clear line of sight is required. I am not sure we fully appreciated just how clear that line of sight needs to be as even a slight upward incline on otherwise clear ground seems to block the signal. We live in an area where there are fences, trees, hedges, shrubbery, ditches and wild areas of thick undergrowth so in reality we need to get within a very few feet of the collar to pick up a signal, pointing the receiver both up and down as well as from side to side. A lot of walking and hacking through obstacles or encroaching on other people’s property is required to make sure we have fully searched each area to within a few feet. It takes perseverance and the last time took me two days of on and off searching. However, without a very expensive and prohibitively heavy (for the cat) GPS system I cannot think of an alternative to the Loc8tor and will continue to use it. Cats are creatures of habit and once we have learned every area they go to (by finding the lost collars) it will make searching easier. I will also continue to use the safety collars despite the frequent losses as the alternative is all too dangerous. The Loc8tor is a mixed blessing. I now know how far our cats go and we were so shocked that we are currently creating a cat secure garden for them instead.

The product itself arrived very quickly and with no hassle. My cat quickly lost the first tag in a place where it was irretrievable but as I had a second tag it wasn't so bad. The handset then stopped working. I changed the battery and did all the recommended tricks to try and revive it but to no avail.

I spoke with a very helpful chap over the phone and we arranged to return the handset. It was returned a few days later with frankly quite a snotty letter saying that there was nothing wrong with the handset and it just needed a new battery (I'd already bought a new replacement which didn't do the trick). It also pointed out that the sound was turned off so the implication was that it was me being a bit thick. If I were to return the product again with a fault which wasn't really there then I would be charged a £25 admin fee.

I'm not keen to use the one remaining tag I have left in case there is another fault so for me it was a bit of a useless product.

Thought this would be invaluable but unfortunately the ONLY range i can get when locating my cat is 30ft not 30m . Extremely frustrating and very upsetting as my cat has gone missing and its virtually impossible to find him unless he is within arms reach. Loc8tor handheld still picks up my second cat as long as he is close.

this is amazing, my cat went missing for 36 hours (never usually goes far) so decided to try loc8tor, we have trained him with treats to come running when the collar beeps, since we have purchased it, we had a bit of a panic as he wasnt waiting when i came home, switched on the loc8tor and found him quickly asleep in a hedge, wouldnt be without this now,the peace of mind it provides is worth every penny, excellent product, easy to use, quick delivery. highly recommended

What a great device. We realised early on that our cat was the wandering type and that she needed a elastic collar as she lost the clasp one. We were able to track it and retrieve from end of neighbours garden. The plastic container snapped after a couple of months wear but again found using the tracker and purchased new case. We have trained her to come in for dinner by calling her using the device by giving her treats when she comes back. We live in a rural area so important to have her in at night.

It would make a great tracker for dementia sufferers if they go walk about .

If you are looking for a simple, no frills system to keep track of your cat, this is it. Using it on our cat who likes to wonder around the neighborhood in town on few block radius. Have used it many times to pinpoint what car she is hiding under.

After Socrates went missing last year a few days before my holiday, I knew I had to do something. My friend told me about the locator and I thought I would try it. When I came back from holiday I put them on Zico and Socrates my two Burmese. Now if I want to get them in I just stand in the field and press the locator. They usually come running or if they hide I can soon track them down. I couldn't live without it now. It means they can go out more as I know I can find them. Thank you loc8tor its brilliant.

The pet locator is a brilliant way to keep track of our pets, it takes the fear away and the 'not knowing' what happened to a loved animal. However, it does have a short life span. Even using the special splash proof tab doesn't save it from dying once it gets wet. Hopefully one day they will fix this problem. Even better, hopefully technology will advance, and we can pay to have a microchip inserted into our animals which we can use to locate them. That's what I'm waiting for.

I purchased the Loc8tor about 4 years ago for my Griffin who regularly wanders off. 90% of the time I'm able to find him with the Loc8tor unless he wanders beyond the 400 feet tracker distance. Then he's in BIG trouble. It works just like it shows on the website & video.
One device malfunctioned, but I contacted customer service & it was quickly replaced. Customer service on-line & phone (even with the time difference for the UK) is great & everyone is been very pleasant. Mail delivery is very prompt & equipment arrives in perfect working order.

Ive bought a Loc8tor for Angus my dog after being traumatized in childhood by losing my dog Bruno when he escaped from the garden! The only problem now is that because the dog is always with me, my husband knows where I am too!!!!

We have a cat that was a street cat when we adopted him. It amazes us that he can navigate a busy urban environment, and he's out all day with other cat and human friends he visits. So while he has a general area of operations, when 8pm comes around and if he hasn't come home, we've used Loc8tor to find him. In one case he had roamed a block a way, and we couldn't pick up any signals initially. After doing a bit of walking, a started picking up a faint beep, and then was able to find him tucked away in some bushes.

Would definitely recommend it, even if your cat is not street-smart, but you'd like to let them out on a leash. Just this past week I witnessed a cat break loose from its owners, get chased up a tree (by another cat). The fire dept couldn't get the cat down and 12 hours later, she fell, possibly injuring herself and ran away (traumatized at the time) from her owners. She has still yet to be found. Had the used Loc8tor, they would have been able to track.

We ended up making our own collar attachment, not that the cases you get with it are too bulky, but we wanted to make it even slimmer.

Loc8tor Pet has been great for my cats and dog. Unfortunately, the devices are a bit large to dangle from a cat's collar, so after they repeatedly dunked them in their water dishes, I had to replace them. The rule I've learned is that you must use a splash guard. I've since moved to the collar surface mount splash guard and so far it's been fine.

It makes me wonder what would be involved to make the tag water resistant? Dogs and cats get into weird places, so making the tag a bit more robust might be worth the effort.

It locates and reports positions reliably.
It is annoying that you have to enter your password every time on the mobile application. Indeed the mobile app is pretty clunky. The desktop/tablet dashboard looks much nicer.
The accuracy is not that great but the response time is good.

We bought this because our cat plays hide and seek in the neighbouring woodland. This has brought us great piece-of-mind and I recommend it

The first loc8tor unit was defective on arrival, but loc8tor dispatched a new serviceable unit straight away. With the type of terrain around my house, (huge boulders and forest), sometimes I have to be quite close before detecting the cat, but at least I can ascertain if he is in a neighbour´s outhouse.

Living not far from an industrial estate and having two of the nosiest cats in existence, we could not be without the pet tracker. The tracker is easy to use and has helped us find our cats on more occasions than I can count. It has also saved on vet's bills - our siamese knows when his collar starts beeping, he has to come home, regardless of whether he is in the middle of a punch-up or not! I can't recommend it highly enough.

Great product that works really well. My 4 cats seem to struggle to grasp why the collars are beeping at them and watching them walking in circles is very amusing! The locators have successfully located both lost cats and lost collars, it's very interesting to see just how far they wander.

I have always had a good idea where my cats were going for their adventures, but with the Loc8tor I now have the upper hand. From within my house I'll get a position on one quietly go outside I know she is in the thick Ivy looking for chipmunks (she wont hurt them they like to chase each other) all I do is call her name and she pops up comes running to me wondering how did I know. Loc8tor is a good tool for keeping track of your pets, keeping them safe and you can have fun with it to. One note: it is hard to find the right collar I'm still looking
