overseas car rental
I was very hesitate about renting a car overseas but other than a little mix-up picking up the car which was corrected very quickly the whole experience was very worth while. returning the car to FCO airport was an experience took me 3 tries to find the right location.
all in all I would recommend Locauto.
PS -I was driving in the countryside not big cities!

Super understanding and competent staff—thank you!
I had originally rented a car through SunnyCars/Autovia (the agency right next to Locauto), but our bank card—which was indeed a credit card—was rejected by Autovia. In desperation, and determined not to let our vacation be ruined, we walked into Locauto. There, an incredibly kind and understanding lady managed to find us a car at the last minute; she accepted our card without any issues, and we drove off 30 minutes later in a spotless little Panda Hybrid, fully insured and with an additional driver included. Admittedly, I had to pay a premium price (€654 for 6 days), but I want to emphasize that our situation was rather dire due to Autovia's lack of professionalism. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to that charming Locauto employee who sorted everything out in record time. Thank you, Madam! Given that most car rental agencies in Italy have a poor reputation, there is no doubt we will use Locauto again for our next Italian road trip. The agency is right across from the Bologna train station, making it super convenient! Thank you, Locauto—you saved our trip!

Collecting the car in Bologna at the…
Collecting the car in Bologna at the train station was absolutely terrible. We had a confirmed and pre-paid booking with online verification of ID and driving license, yet needed to fill in the exact same application again - yes paperwork -, show ID and driving license. Copies were made, scanned and destroyed. All in all, took about 1,5 hours after fierce discussions with a lady who was barely able to speak and understand English. She even at one point refused to give us a car at all. Mind you, pre-paid reservation. Considering that ultimately the car was fine and the return at the airport was very smooth, we rate 3 stars. Pls. make sure your staff do speak English as well. And why all these bureaucratic nonsense, even though all the data is known? Step into 2026!

Wonderful experience with Locauto
A very good experience with Locauto. 2 days after renting the car from Bologna Central Station we had a flat tire with a very large nail. We changed the tire with the spare and the next day we came to Florence to change the car. In this whole process we were guided very nicely by Enza from Bologna. Thank you for changing our rental car.

Awesome experience with the people
Awesome experience with the people. Very nice and very helpful. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 is the drop off process is not as easy as other locations. The car had to be parked in a fenced lot and then walk back to the office to drop off the keys. I would rent again from locauto!

At the office they did not want to…
At the office they did not want to issue the rented car. They were offering with manual transmission while I had rented and payed for the automatic one. After my refusal they had to.
Besides this issue everything went quick and nice. Fast pickup and fast return.
