Lowcostepc.com
The "gentleman" who owns this site has a very poor reputation, which I wish I had known about before placing an order. Despite threats of debt collectors and court proceedings when he demanded an extra £85 costs (not a penalty charge according to him) when an invoice was not paid within 24 hours of him sending it out he decided not to go to Court and the claim was struck out.
The service may not be the provision of low cost EPCs ("we will not be beaten on price") but a way to charge more money to unsuspecting consumers who then get anxious or worried when legal letters are received and threats to go to Court are made. You decide.........
Avoid
Took a deposit of £14.95 and never heard from them again. Awful. Avoid
Scamming company
Placed an order out of hours and after reading some reviews decided to cancel it via email before they opened the next day. 6 months later after providing nothing there texting and emailing claiming we now owe 74.90 for a 9.99 epc!
Avoid this company at all costs
I ordered an EPC inspection online back in October 2015 and the prcess stated they email me for the £9.95. An assessor phoned me promptly within 24 hours and carried out the assessment a couple of days later. I enquired with the assessor when would receive an email for the booking fee. He did not know. I checked all my emails including spam and no emails from the company were received so I left it. Roll forward Friday 26th March (Good Friday) some 6 months later when I received a call from someone reportedly from Low cost EPC asking fof an overdue payment. They stated they had sent emails on or aroud 26th January (very vague) asking for payment. I explained I had not received any emails but did not have a problem with paying the £9.95. He indicated it might have gone into my junk folder. If this was the case why did the original confirmation email go into my inbox and subsequent emails from the same company into my junk folder? I doesnt make sense. At this point he said there was now a late payment fee. I immediately refused to pay, the reason that I had not received any requests for payment email or post. The conversation ended abruptly with he was not going to argue with me (I was not, just stating facts) and that he would be going to small claims court.
If a company has a process they need it follow it. Why does it take 6 months to chase such a small payment and on a bank holiday? Something very wrong with the operations of this company and totally unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.
Not so Savi.
We are professional and experienced landlords and we requested an EPC from this company. But after reading their online reviews we decided to cancel.
We requested their bank details as quite clearly from online reviews they couldn't be trusted with ones credit/debit card details.
We paid the obligatory £9.95 fee by bank transfer within the 25hr window.
3 weeks later we receive a demand for £74.90. made up of £14.95 late payment fee, £50.00 admin charge and the £9.95 original cancellation fee (which we had already paid).
The letter stated that unless this was all paid within 5 days they would start proceedings in the small claims court with further fees added.
We pointed out that the original fee had been paid on time to the their nominated account.
Their eventual excuse was that they had not seen the payment go in to their bank. Our advice is to steer well clear of this company.
We hope this is the end of the fiasco.
Duplicate Payment - Zero communication. No answers to calls or emails.
I too made the mistake of dealing with Savi EPC for an EPC review.
I ordered an EPC through savi.co.uk for a total cost of £39.95.
I paid the £9.95 referral / booking fee immediately savi.co.uk with my credit card. I subsequently paid the remaining £30.00 to the assessor.
Savi.co.uk subsequently took another payment of £39.95 from my credit card without my knowledge.
I emailed them twice with a copy of ,my credit card statement showing the 2 payments along with a receipt from the assessor.
I also used their website telling them what had happened and asked someone to call me in order to get a refund.
I telephoned them several times at different times of the day on various days. No replies to any of my messages to date.
Be careful or avoid if possible
Avoid this company ! charged me twice, unprofessional agent, no contacts from them to help.
Not only was the service visit itself unprofessional and felt like I was being scammed, they have since taken another £39.95 from my account despite having paid in cash and have not answered any of my emails or tickets.
Very unprofessional service, would not recommend unless you don't care about your rating and feeling uncertain whole time that you're not being ripped off.
Agent arrived all stressed that he couldn't find a parking space and initially asked me to sit in his car while he did the survey (really? Let a complete stranger walk around my house while I sit in his car?). I came down and walked 10 meters to find him a parking space which I paid for. He complained about the appointment the whole time, why did he book it in then?
He did the quickest of surveys which in the end he got quite wrong as I have 100% of my fixed lights with LED and 1 Halogen, he raked me as having 47% low energy lights.
At the end I had to give him £30 cash. I asked him for change and a receipt, all of which seemed to be a problem for him. I already felt like I was being scammed, so not having a receipt book was completely unprofessional.
It turns out they did charge me a second time off my account which I got my bank to reverse as they have not replied to my emails. AVOID!!!
Beware unauthorised credit card charge
EPC went smoothly paid deposit £9.95 online and then £30 to assessor. Then a £39.95 charge appeared on my card. Can not get response either by phone or to tickets raised on their site.
asking for nonpayment of booking fee that was paid
i had an epc carried out on 23 rd September 2015 by low cost epc, part of savi.co.uk
I paid the online booking fee via their link but you get no receipt or reply to confirm you paid.
An assessor carried out the epc and I paid the £30 remainder in cash.
I received an email from low cost epc on 28th September demanding £9.95 booking fee that they say was never paid with a late payment fee of £14.95 and a charge of £50 admin!
I immediately checked that payment had gone from my bank account which it has. You cannot reply to their email address, they don't answer the phone and the contact issue ticket doesn't get replied to either.
I still haven't received my epc. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! Upon further investigation I see many of people have had the same experience which leads me to believe they do this on a regular basis to panic people into repaying extra money without checking their first payment. They will not make me pay something I don't owe. I don't usually leave negative reviews but if I can save anybody else the hassle I'm having, it's worth it. I don't know if I'll ever receive a reply from this company it my epc! Don't use this company, find a different one! Since first writing this review, lowcostepc have taken funds from my bank account without authorisation. I have had to cancel my card with the bank and I've reported this as fraud to the police
Not fit for business
Their website taking card payments is not a secure webpage and their telephone number just says 'your call cannot be taken at the moment'.
I would say this business is not fit for purpose.
I've given up and gone elsewhere.
