I needed a speedy survey on a property I am hoping to buy and McLaughlins were quick to come back with a quote, very well priced and sorting one out for me the same week.
Louie Webb who carried out the survey was happy to talk through the report once done and has been so helpful with all my enquiries!

As first time buyers, the service was made very clear to us. They were very prompt at carrying out the survey and sending the report back to us. Overall very pleased.

Firstly, the price was the most competitive, which sometimes triggers a little doubt about the quality but there was nothing to fear. The organisation of the visit was easy as was the online payment. Louis called prior to his visit, too, to check if I had any specific concerns I wanted him to focus on. The report was comprehensive with photos, which were helpful for parts we hadn't seen e.g. the loft. Finally, I did have a couple of follow-up questions which Louis happily answered and he was friendly and helpful throughout.

We're first time buyer and they just did a splendid work. Luke Dowling was our surveyor and he completed the report and sent it to us the day after the inspection. He also took the time to explain in details over the phone when we had additional questions. Definitely recommend their services

Quite possibly the worst company I have had the misfortune in dealing with. Prior to purchasing my first house, "get a full building survey, it will save you from any nasty surprises" (said literally everyone) How wrong could they be? Well let me tell you how wrong...

After completing the survey, I had to chase up for the report (twice) which arrived well after the promised 7 days. I thoroughly read the report, nothing too major identified so I completed purchase on the property shortly after.

The property is a over 100 year Victorian terraced, having picked up to the keys it took me approx. 5 mins to discover the Cellar that MCL Surveying claim didn't exist. Literally located in a cupboard under the stairs. Apparently the standard location for a property such as this. You'd have thought a company with 40 years plus experience would have been aware of this and inspected the area thoroughly, but not this surveyor. Imagine, a whole floor being missed from the inspection.

The surveyor came back out to reinspect - a bit late now like, I've already completed on the property. The smell of damp coming from the cellar was a clear indication to me that there was problems down there. The shelves within the cupboard have clear signs of damp, as does the plank of wood covering the cellar. "Its an asset" is what the surveyor said to me on reinspection. An asset!? Yeah maybe if I wanted to use it as the worlds smallest swimming pool, or largest bath - but the state of it down there it can't be used for much else right now. There were so many signs that this cellar existed all of which missed by a "professional surveying company with over 40 years experience". Let me you remind you, I have absolutely zero experience and found this cellar within 5 mins.

10k is how much its going to cost to sort out the damp issues alone. Anyone else got 10K in their back pocket to spend on a cellar they knew nothing about? Would I have brought this property had I know about the cellar's presence? - absolutely not! Do MCL Surveying take any responsibility? - nope they do not. I may as well of took the hundreds of pounds I spent on the said survey and thrown it down the non existent cellar.

So I give this warning to you... please find a more competent company that will do a thorough job and actually care about their customers. Save yourself not only a lot of money, but a lot of stress and sleepless nights and use a company that wouldn't miss an entire floor of your property. I'm now forced to go down the court action route as MCL Surveying refuse to take any responsibility.

Neil Trewick at MCL was brilliant and I can not recommend him enough! I am a first time buyer so there has been a lot of the the unknown during this process and Neil has been fantastic throughout. I was provided with so much information just on my initial enquire before I had even paid a penny, he rang me on his way to the Survey appointment to check what my potential concerns were with the property, he then debriefed me after his findings. Finally the informative Report was with me in no time at all. Neil and MCL are first class and I would not hesitate in using their services again.

Had a home survey done by this company before we moved in February 2021. A lot of things were missed by the surveyor...the house has a tile flooring with underfloor heating...when we moved in we found the marbles were moving and the grout between the tiles had come off. The surveyor had missed all of this. The current quote for changing all the tiles and underfloor heating is 15k. The Fascia and soffit are in a really bad condition and need replacing.

I have made a complaint and the company has become very defensive and has refused to accept that the surveyor was incompetent. This company has casued me a loss 20k due to missing important findings.

Please be ware...and find a better surveyor.

Very prompt and efficient service from McLaughlins carrying out home buyers survey. Surveyor Luke Dowling was extremely helpful notifying us prior to and after his visit and his report was received within 24 hours of his visit. Would definitely recommend.

Prompt service and great communication. Their processes are streamlined and I could get a next day booking! I received the report within a day of inspection! The team is professional and happy to spend time on the phone to go over the report.

The whole process was straightforward. Good communications and they were happy to go through the survey afterwards to explain the findings.

Amazing company! As soon as our house was surveyed, Luke informed us straight away and went into alot of detail, also happy to answer questions asked. We got the report on the day they said we would aswell, along with pics of slight defects around the house. Would definitely recommend!

Organised a building survey through McLaughlins, the survey was very comprehensive and contained everything I needed to know before going ahead with the purchase of my first home.

They even reorganised the survey for a week earlier than planned without any input from me which was a lovely surprise.

I have found my experience using McLaughlins surveyors hugely positive. Luke was my residential surveyor and phoned me prior to the survey, giving me the opportunity to discuss any concerns. I also had an email from the team asking if there were any points at the property that I would like the report to focus on. The report itself was user friendly in terms of RAG ranking as well as a written summary of each point. The report was received the following day, at the weekend, which was the cherry on top. Excellent experience overall.

Very efficient service from this company & was kept informed through every step. Was contacted the day before the survey to ask if I was aware of any issues with the property (which I wasn't) that needed looking at. Report received the next day and offer of follow up telephone call to answer any questions that I might have.

Martin has recently completed a survey for us on a property we wished to buy. He obviously inspected everything that we could have expected - and much more besides.

His full and thorough report included information regarding all aspects of the building and its surrounds, and spotlighted issues which would need consideratio/attention before taking any deal further. Photographs were taken to provide pictorial evidence of such issues... a great help.

During the follow up conversation with Martin, he was personable and approachable, and he offers his considered opinionand his time freely.

I would certainly use Martin again, and, would recommend him to anyone seeking such services.
