Useless, they lied through their teeth saying my survey had been done a week ago. Made me feel incompetent when I had not received my report. Digging deeper they have instructed some other company to go this survey. My estate agent has called saying they are doing it today. Not acceptable a month down the line.

We had a building survey completed by one of there Surveyors Anthony Willison and it was extremily comprehensive and identified a flaw in the structure that helped us make a difficult decision. We are looking again and intend to use them again.

Quick report, great and regular communication via email, the report was clear and easy to read for first-time buyers!

McLaughlins Surveyors really came out on top for us when we needed them. Not only did they squeeze us into a busy diary but Luke D called the evening before to talk us through the process and ask if there was anything in particular we wanted him to check. I searched for a quote via Simply Conveyancers comparison site and received a number of quotes. I was contacted by Andy Ball from Mcloughlins who checked my requirements and gave me an amended price based on the further detail provided. He also told me the approximate timescale they could complete the survey within (2-3 weeks which was less than I was expecting as this was in the run up to the stamp duty holiday ending in June 21). There was no pressure from Andy and he replied promptly to further questions I had via email. The timescale quoted was accurate and I was kept up to date via text and email on when the survey would be taking place. The day before the survey, I was called by Luke Dowling the surveyor to see if I had any questions or specific requests. As I live close to the property and it was a vacant possession I asked if I could be in attendance and he agreed that would be possible. He called me as agreed 20 minutes before arriving at the property and I found it useful to be present during part of the survey. Luke seemed very through and spent over an hour at the property (for a basic homebuyers report). The survey document was delivered via email within 4 days of the survey taking place and covered all necessary areas. Luke also followed up with an email offering a phone call to run through the detail if required. All in all, I was very pleased with the service Mcloughlins provided. The price was competitive, the staff were efficient and professional and I was kept updated at all stages of the process. I would certainly use them again and would recommend them to family and friends.

My wife and I were two weeks away from buying a house for £115,000 when Sean surveyed it. Among other problems, the report he produced showed cracks throughout the house which were indicative of movement. He spoke to us on the phone, patiently explained his worries, and strongly recommended we spoke to a structural engineer. Long story short, we had to pull out of buying the house because it couldn’t be ruled out that the house and its foundations were not still moving. Fast forward a few months, and the house was being auctioned for £60,000. Yes, £55,000 less than what we were about to pay. As you can imagine, we are extremely happy that we didn’t buy the house.

We eventually found a second house, and we of course again used McLaughlins for a Homebuyers Report. Sadly, there were problems with this house too. In fact, the problem was so immediately evident to Sean that he kindly contacted us while onsite to advise us that he already knew he would not be able to recommend we buy this house either, and that there was little point in him proceeding with the survey. He charged us nothing, thus saving us the cost of the survey at his own expense, and saving us from another unwise (and dangerous) property purchase.

We are now in the process of buying a third house, and I’m not going to say much about our experiences with Sean on this one because he has been so remarkably generous and helpful that I don’t want him to be expected to do the same for everyone. Just trust me when I say that he has, even more than with the last two purchases, saved us a large amount of time, stress, and money. He has treated us like friends, despite not knowing us outside of these three purchases.

I have three recommendations for anyone looking to buy a home. 1: Get a Homebuyers Report. It’s not worth the risk to buy blindly. 2: Get the report before instructing solicitors or mortgage brokers because otherwise you may end up paying them for a purchase that never takes place. 3: Use McLaughlins Surveyors. Sean has been amazing, and in fact everyone we have dealt with at the company has been lovely. Look no further, you’ve found the right surveyors to hire.

Neil was very friendly helpful and reassuring in regards to my homebuyers survey.
His engagement with the vendor meant a drain problem was identified and resolved within 24 hours of Neil attending the premises.
With the advice and insights Neil shared during a call to discuss the results of the survey, I feel confident in the purchase I’m making.
Neil called me out of office hours on a Friday evening and despite the inconvenience to him he took time to answer my questions thoroughly and ensure I had a good grasp of the survey results.

Quick and easy. The report was excellent and very detailed. The report was easy to understand and I had the option to discuss anything I needed I would highly recommend. Online portal is an easy tool to use as well.

Very good survey, very quick turn around in terms of getting the survey assigned. the surveyor has done a very thorough job and provided the report quickly. Andy the surveyor called me on a Saturday to go through the clarifications I had from the report. Overall excellent service and definitely value for money.

Not even one star for this company
They have taken advantage of me because I’m a 70 year old pensioner.!!!
When you 1st phone them they will promise you everything and take your money.
They then send you loads of pages of Terms and conditions, that gives them a get out of every possible event they want too
and when they don’t fulfil what was promised
They start quoting the T and C
I feel that I’ve been ripped off by this company
I asked for particular things to be looked at on a house I wanted to buy and the salesman promised they could do that before I paid
After the survey was do they came up with the small print on the T and C
Pointing they didn’t have the equipment to do
These are a bunch of Robbers and can’t be trusted
Stay away from you have been warned

Thank you to Peter and Neil for coming out so quickly and doing a RICS valuation for our Help to Buy redemption. Neil had the valuation report done the same day and it was emailed across quickly. The report was perfect and when I sent it to Target they checked it on the phone with me and have already started the processing so it’ll be ready days ahead of schedule.

Very poor service. Took 6 weeks to get a survey. The report was poor quality and self contradicting and a small detail was insisted on inspection when there were no signs of damage. I've tried to call on several occasions with no reply and haven't had an email response on an urgent matter after 2 weeks of waiting. Poor communication with our lender. Refused to recommend inspection specialists but won't accept ours.

I'd have like to have known when the survey had been booked for so I would have known when to expect it back. Having seen the reports of others this survey response was very basic in the fact that it had no traffic light system to say how important any points raised were. There was lots of useful supplementary info around why they were looking at certain things but it was really difficult to see where the actual recommendations were...if they had been in a different coloured font or event just italicisied that would have really helped.

Excellent service, very detailed for a homebuyers. Also highlighting items they were unable to check. Highly recommended if you are buying a house.
