The generation 1 meaters can handle up to 275C. I had it twice over this temperature for minutes and was destroyed.
Clearly this was not designed for cooking and especially grilling. Even with gas grill nothing is grilled below 220-250c. At this temperatures the probe reports >275 due to contruction and practically is unusable.
The worst 120 I spent. I have a better meater from temu with just 10 euros

On their website they claim "Free Shipping On All Orders", and then at check-out they want to charge me €25.00 for shipping. This should be illegal. To make things worse, there is no any convenient way to contact their support - it's like they don't want to be contacted or bothered. I guess you can't rely on them if you have any issues with your device later on.

Meater does NOT stand behind their product. I have had multiple issues with mine with respect to range, false alerts, and disconnection. I have received alerts that I exceeded the maximum temperature of 500 degrees when my BBQ never registered over 450. When I spoke to customer support they said that flare ups can put you over even though the ambient temperature doesn't exceed the 500 degrees and therefore they are out of warranty. Excuse me, are these not designed for a bbq experience? So in essence, DO NOT BUY these if you get flames on your bbq. I asked them if I could exchange the unit for an additional cost for the Pro XL and was told flat out NO. Horrible customer service, they do not stand by their product. You will at some point be disappointed with the Meater block. Its only a matter of time.

Today my MEATER saved our house from a Traeger grill fire. Our Traeger randomly caught fire and the MEATER app alerted us that something was wrong with our smoke. 10/10 recommend a MEATER to make sure your grill doesn’t burn your house down. Unfortunately, our MEATER was scorched during the fire (I’m hoping MEATER will replace it - will update). We’ve had our MEATER for 4 years and it’s worked great!
Original review was 5 stars… changing my review based on their customer service. They were unable to assist me with a replacement since the MEATER was on fire it went above the warranty temperature.

Loses connection as soon as I put one of the devices in the oven or grill. The substation seems like it needs be to right next to the probe to read it. This has been an ongoing issue since I received the item back in Christmas.

As an avid cooker both inside and out with all types of cooking means, I feel this is the worst product with a lot to go in its technology. Come to find out even spending $200 for the Meater block, you have to be within 40 feet of the appliance and the block with the probes to try and have it connect to the Wi-Fi. This means that you can only cook in one area whether inside or out without duplicating and losing your connection. This is a poor technological miss on development and marketing. This means you can only cook either inside or outside, but not both. They rely on a 3/16” area on the probe to keep precisely clean for accurate connection so bring out your Brillo pads and sandpaper and get ready to have the shiniest surface still without connection. The app is great if it worked, but it doesn’t and I am asking the company for a refund if not a replacement to remove this review. For now I will stick to old school thermometers and hope that this company comes around and stays true to their word of reading each review that comes in and handling it appropriately. I look forward to talking with them again as my claim number has been in for three weeks and still no action so I will keep you posted.

Very disappointed to find out that the Meater Pro I purchased at a Big Box Store did not come with a storage box. My Friend purchased his from the Meater website and he received one. If I had known I would have not have purchased it from the Retailer. I paid the same price, just did not purchase it directly from Meater.

I have had nothing but problems one minute is fine next its battery is dead then it’s not reading. The temp is different from other readers idk it never just works there is always something.

I own the Meater Pro Duo. I also own two of the Meater Plus. I never really add any issues with the older Plus besides the Bluetooth range wasn't very far. I got the Pro since it connects to Wi-Fi. When the Pro works, it's been great however I've had continuous battery issues. When I got to use it, the batteries are dead. Even after I fully charged them after my prior cook. What's even more frustrating is the support. I've tried to chat multiple times and the reps disconnect the chat before trying to help. They claim there's a warranty however I can't even get someone to help. I've also read through all the manuals and FAQ's. Not sure what else to do.

Decided to read some of the reviews & don't understand the complaints by those who seem to be dissatisfied or have difficulty with the app. I've had my MEATER for about 5 years & it's always worked wonderfully. Works great on the BBQ located outside. Foods are always fantastic & the app is so user friendly. Would never cook without the MEATER. Always reliable and I clean it after every use once it cools down.
I ordered on 1/22/25 and received it relatively quickly. I have used them on briskets, steaks, chickens, and various pork products. Pretty pleased with the results and feel that it works better than the original in terms of connectivity and monitoring. There is still a variance in ambient temp, even when the probs are in the same piece of meat . Not much difference in the block, would have been nice to have a larger screen. For the price, you would expect the numeric probe clips to be included, but they are not.

Sorry but it simply does not work.
The estimated time can jump from 30 minutes to finish to 10 minutes in a matter of seconds. The ambient temperature is usually 20% lower than the oven temperature. Don’t waste your money buying this buy a proper thermometer

Great Concept, but horrible product. There are many more reason to not buy this product than there are to buy it. Purchase the MEATER Block in July of 2024 and it lasted a few months and of course the warranty is exclusive and doesn’t cover your common issues. For instance, one of the four probes is exposed to exclusive heat and now the entire product to include the block and remaining probes are no longer covered under the warranty. Also another major issue is connectivity. Don’t plan on using these for any thick walled grills or smokers to include a green egg or similar. Likewise they will not transmit from an oven. Stay anyway the product is no good and the company doesn’t stand behind it.

I had a Meater Pro that stopped charging after 6 months. I went on Chat, spoke to Maria and after sending a few photos of the Pro she has sent me a replacement unit free of charge. Great service!
Bought one for my husband for Christmas a few years ago, we haven’t used it much, it works well, but we need to have our phone located within about 2 feet of the oven in order for it to work, it doesn’t connect outside when cooking on the bbq. Isn’t that the point? Very disappointing. Too late to send it back for a refund. I would not recommend.
