This item works...most of the time

This item works...most of the time. Occasionally it won't connect to the app on the phone even though the charging station is within 1 foot of the probe and my phone is within 1 foot of the station. It also will definitely NOT WORK if you have the probe in a cast iron pot in an oven. For the money, you would think the reliability would be better.

Hi, and thanks for the feedback. While using any wireless probe inside of a pot that is inside of a grill can result in a weak signal, you should be getting pretty solid performance otherwise. When you have a little time, please visit us at support.meater.com and go through our Support Wizard. This step-by-step tool can usually fix most concerns that you might have with your MEATER. And if you need more assistance, there is contact information at the end for our Customer Service Team, which is available 365 days a year, by both chat and by phone.

Overcomplicated product

Tough and complicated to use and convoluted instructions. All instructions are videos and there are multiples of them.
I dread to picture my father in-law trying to use this.
We used this once and were dissapointed with the experience amd put off using it again. The next time we used it, we had the same issues.
I doubt ill use it a third time.

Was given this as a gift

Was given this as a gift, & forgot all about it for almost a year. Apparently it is a BAD design and collected moisture/humidity in my kitchen drawer in its original box & wooden case/docking station. The connections actually even rusted!!! I was told that it was manufactured 2 years ago and was out of warranty & they offered me 30% off purchase of new docking station. I asked what was going to keep this from happening again in my house in the Summer. Then I was told they have one on Amazon only that is made of plastic, but I would have to purchase from Amazon directly without any discount!!! Obviously 🙄 it is a design flaw and Amazon doesn’t want to deal with the issue of an abundance of returns!!!! Buyer Beware!!!!!!

Thank you for your review. MEATER chargers are housed in natural wood. They are designed to be as durable as possible, but as with all products, they need proper care. Storing your MEATER in a cool, dry place and using a dry cloth to wipe the contact points after use will help prevent damage to the charger. Here is a support link that goes over how to care for the MEATER.

I purchased the Meater 2 Pro and have…

I purchased the Meater 2 Pro and have been using it for five months now. I was extremely excited after seeing the ads, but I’ve been so disappointed with it—especially considering the price.

The cook is not as good as I expected, and the food is often undercooked. The cooking and resting times provided by the app are completely unreliable, making it impossible to time other dishes to be ready alongside the meat.

I've also had constant issues with syncing between the thermometer and the base unit.

In my opinion, it’s a lot of hype and definitely not worth the money. I feel really lucky that I didn’t go for the four-pack, as I was initially tempted to.

Hello, and thanks for your feedback on the MEATER Pro. While cook estimates and final doneness can be affected by certain factors, including having the probe inserted into a thinner part of the meat, and even changing the grill’s temperature, these are probably things that you are already aware of. However, there are a few lesser known influences that can substantially alter cook time approximations, such as simply flipping the meat or altering its position in the grill, as well as something referred to as ‘the stall’. The stall really only becomes relevant with larger cuts and is where the heat of the grill evaporates moisture in the meat, which has a cooling effect (similar to perspiration for a person). In these situations, the cook time can change in the app while the internal temperature increase decelerates, adding more time to the estimate. But you really don’t have to diagnose this, or the syncing issue, all on your own. If you visit us at support.meater.com, you’ll find a Support Wizard and FAQs that address most MEATER concerns, and also contact information for our Customer Service Team and the end of the Wizard, which will get you in touch with one of our agents, 365 days a year.

Creepy

Creepy. It’s fickle. Have had this for some years. I won’t cover what other reviewers gave said about that. Disturbed by survey emails after cooking: ‘How was your lamb? Let us know! Hugs’ also couldn’t shut the app off after the last use. Had to restart my phone. I have a cheap meat thermometer that doesn’t stalk me. Might be using that instead in the future.

Tonight’s London Broil cooked to a perfection!

Tonight’s London Broil was cooked to a perfection. I actually foil wrapped the Broil during the Rest period and you could monitor the internal temp still rising during the rest, very nice. Last week’s Turkey was the same with no issues and the Bird was cooked to a perfection. I think it’s time to retire my instant read digital stick thermometer.

A piece of art.

I received my Meater temperature Wi-Fi probe. Wow! The wooden storage box containing the probe and battery for charging the unit was a piece of art in itself. Truly it was designed by an artist engineer if there is such a title. After charging and connecting my I-phone via the app it works flawlessly. This would make an impressive gift for someone who has it all. Now I do.

EXTREMELY HIGH MAINTENANCE

The meater plus seems to be the only 1 that will halfway work. It says 33 feet away it should connect but it’s really you basically have to put the box on top of the smoker to get it to connect an if you walk more than 10 feet away everything constantly disconnects. Honestly it’s easier to just use the probe from Traeger on the smoker than this thing. Not sure why it’s so high maintenance an temperamental

Hi, and thanks for your review. While the probes can be expected to last well past their coverage period, which they usually do, as with any warrantied electronics, there does have to be a reasonable limit to how long this coverage can be. However, even after the warranty expires, we still try to work with you as a member of the MEATER family, and may offer a replacement at a reduced cost in certain situations.

Same ole

Same ole, same ole ... the unit is worthless 30' from my smoker. I have an Expert Grill meat probe that I got from HEB for $15 that is much better than this POS. If you're grilling/cooking/smoking 15' from your meat, Kumbaya!

If you're more distant from that, it's worthless. Period! Don't waste your time or money.

Thank you for your review. The range of the probe to the charger is 33 FT/10 M in an open air setting. Range during cooks depends on the type of appliance being used. From a smoker to the charger is 10 FT/3 M. For best results, keep the charger as close as safely possible to the probe during a cook. Here is a support link that goes over range and a video that goes over the range expectations. If you still need help, please contact us and one of our agents will be happy to assist you.

Never stays connected

Never stays connected. The probe and the charger are literally one foot apart and it looses connection all the time. I have good wi-fi, bluetooth works just fine. The product itself is flawed. I do not recommend and would never spend the money to but another one.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. If your probe loses connection while being used, this is likely a range issue caused by distance or obstructions. We recommend to make sure there are no obstacles such as walls, trees, or windows between devices. Our Customer Support team would be happy to diagnose the cause of the issue and work with you to get it fixed. Feel free to reach out at support.meater.com/contact-us.

Disappointed in the battery -no OFF/Sleep mode

Disappointed in the battery. I will often go weeks or months between cooks (especially in winter). Everytime I take my Meater Pro Duo out of the box the batteries are totally dead, the base and both probes. There is NO way to turn anything off to save batteries for your next cook.
So now I need to remember to charge the Meater at least 2 hours before EVERY cook -really poor design.
Also
I often cook (grilling) over charcoal, the constant "Flare Up Detected" alerts are really annoying, -I know! I don't need the Meater squawking at me every 30 seconds during a cook....

Hello, and thank you for your review of the MEATER Pro Duo. One of the most common causes of premature battery discharge on any MEATER product is the presence of residue on probes, or even the metal contacts of the base unit. This can interfere with the connection between them, resulting in the charger continuously emitting a signal as it thinks the probes are still in use instead of being docked. However, even if this is not the case, you shouldn’t need to wait 2 hours for the probes to reach full power. The Pro series is designed to charge much more quickly than previous versions, with 30 minutes typically providing a complete charge that can last as long as 24 hours (with both probes in use). But if you believe that there is something more to the short battery life, or it is taking an excessive amount of time to charge the probes, please visit us at support.meater.com, where you’ll find a Support Wizard, FAQs and contact information for the MEATER Customer Service Team.

If it had the option not to leave a…

If it had the option not to leave a star I would. I have had nothing but issues with this product since getting it. The whole system has failed me almost every cook I have done. The probes will randomly disconnect or won’t connect at all. The block also always will disconnect from WiFi signal or won’t connect to wife at all as well. I have been dealing with the support for 3-4 weeks now and each support call we have trouble shot the issue and all the support agents have said it looks like there is a bigger issue and fwd me to higher ups. I have been emailing back and fourth with the higher up of support and they are trying to get me to download apps and all these different things for my WiFi when we already know it is set up for the correct connection that the meter has. They also just keep saying they are here to help when they just constantly keep telling me to clean my probes better and check my WiFi signal. I have sent numerous pictures showing my probes to be in like new condition as far as being clean, and have sent multiple pictures of a fantastic WiFi signal and my meater block not connecting. I have a family member with the same one as mine who have similar issues with theirs, but it will connect better than mine and I still have the same issues connecting to their signal as well. I have done just about everything and have wasted hours on the phone and over email and all they wanna do is deny any issue and do everything possible to blame my WiFi dirty probes ect ect even after trouble shooting all of these things with a agent over the phone and confirming none of these are my issues. If you plan to purchase one of these just beware the support is worthless and as it appears from other comments above I am not the only person with this issue. I really wish I could trust this block because I grill all the time but sadly it has been a absolute pain and has let me down almost every single time I have tried to use it. I guarantee meater will reply back to this email saying they are trying their best and to try cleaning my probes, check batteries or check your WiFi signal and just keep ignoring the fact I have done all that with them multiple times now.

We're sorry to hear about the trouble you're having, and we really appreciate you bringing it to our attention. If the probes disconnect directly from the charger, this is not related to WiFi, since they pair through Bluetooth. Start by inspecting the probes for any damage and make sure they're clean, especially around the contact points. After ensuring they’re in good condition, confirm they’re securely placed in the charger, and turn off Bluetooth on your phone. Once that’s done, go to Settings and select Probe Pairing.
If the probes are not pairing or only showing spinning circles, contact us at support.meater.com/contact-us and we’ll gladly assist you further.
If the probes pair fine but you can’t connect to the phone, we suggest contacting your Internet Service Provider to confirm your network meets all the requirements to have a successful pairing. We hope you find this information helpful!

I am REALLY disappointed in my Meater…

I am REALLY disappointed in my Meater Pro Duo. I previously owned (and LOVED) a Meater Pro and an original Meater. They both used replaceable batteries which lasted a year or more. The Pro Duo has a rechargeable battery with a USB C port for recharging. That is OK with me, but the battery dies WITHIN A FEW DAYS AFTER AN OVERNIGHT CHARGE, just sitting in the drawer!!! The support guy I talked to basically said "yeah that's the way it is." This is a GIANT STEP BACKWARD from previous generation products. I don't want to leave my product out and plugged in all the time. I want to fully charge it, and then expect it to JUST WORK - for MONTHS - when I take it out of the drawer. If a single probe Meater Pro could do this with a pair of alkaline batteries, it sure as hell should be able to do it with a lithium ion battery. I think this is a BUG, and the company should own up to it and FIX IT.

To add insult to injury, there is no "fully charged" indication on the LED lights - it just glows red when you're charging - forever. Come on , Meater - this is just piss poor engineering design and you know it.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We’re sorry to hear about your experience with our support team. The MEATER Pro Duo is designed to provide up to 24 hours of battery life when fully charged and with both probes in use. If the device is not in use, the battery should last longer than that. It’s not an expected behavior for the battery to drain quickly, so we’d be glad to look into it if you are willing to give us another chance as you’ve been a loyal customer of our company. Please, reach out to us at support.meater.com/contact-us so that we can look into the issue further.
