Well that's the last time I go to my favourite fish and chip shop ... recent change of management in Barnsley has led to a complete change of staff and that in itself has led to a lot of the character and atmosphere departing too ...

The price increase does not match the quality or portion size .... they have definitely got smaller .... I always feel that new management need to adjust , however the once brilliant food is sub standard ... even the batter is not fresh and crispy ....

It's bland small and I will now be looking for a better alternative... I have no issue of the price of something as long as the product matches the price ....

Absolutely fantastic fit out for chip shop unfortunately, I didn't notice that it doesn't sell pork sausages. It was a mixture of chicken and all sorts of meats which is not a proper chip shop. I would be aware to make sure you understand what they are selling. I was
caught out

we got half the order delivered, the other half was just overcooked fish and chips ( we we ordered large so perhaps our large is more than 21 chips and that's on us - is 21 chips just too much for most people )
The fish was overcooked and the rest of the order never arrived.
How hard is it to read an order?
How much food waste did this incur?
To order for a few people to feed half of them ...

Disappointing only sell one type of fish ? Why the answer was we come from up north and people will have to have haddock only
Really is it free ? Or can we choose what we would like to pay for?

South Woodford branch just opened giving 50% off on opening day. I live nearby and saw people queuing all day, so thought I’d give it a go but they’d sold out of food by 8.30 and it’s open until 11pm. Bad planning and they seemed dismissive turning people away, not a good start.

Just bought 2 scallop Muffins for just under £6. Theres an option to add salt and vinegar which I did. Got my sandwiches and they've put ketchup and mayo on it! Didn't state this on the ordering screen and I wasn't asked. Im allergic to mayo. Took it back and her response was "sandwiches come with sauce on from everywhere" when I said this is incorrect she just stared at me. No refund offered! Left the sandwiches there and out of pocket. What a joke! Use this place regularly. Won't be doing again now! Ive also had a scallop muffin from here before through uber and there was no sauce so she lied!

Just had some fish bites and chips delivery for my girls.

Quality of chip were poor, not fresh at all. Very disappointed.

Fish bites were nice but more on the cold side.

Considering we don't live far from the shop, food should have been very fresh but sadly it wasn't.

Hi, I am a NHS worker and brought some Fish & Chips from the Coventry Mother Hubbard's shop and it tasted delicious. The fish was nice and soft and crispy and the chips were soft to eat. I recommend this shop as it is very good and the service was brilliant. Only waited 5 minutes and brilliant customer service. The box and the bag were nice and good logos on them. I will try something else next time but if the Fish & Chips were good then I am sure the other items will be great.

Well done to the staff and good we have this nice shop in the City Centre.

The chips were very good and well cooked. The customer service was amazing and fast service. Very good overall and I do recommend!

On a visit to Burton upon Trent, we had our first experience of Mother Hubbard's when we called in for lunch. The premises were bright and spotlessly clean, staff were extremely helpful. We ordered the fish bites with chips to eat in and the food did not disappoint being piping hot and generous servings. We will definitely be eating here again.

I have the most amazing experience in mother hubbards in hemel hempstead I had the most amazing experience and customer service from Sharon she is full of love and her energy is everything also the food was lovely!!! I travelled from London I will be back again Thank you sharon x

Good fish well battered. Excellent chips. The staff indifferent to the point of surly. Robotic questions, no warmth. Maybe they feel having a good product is enough. Wrong. Hi Tide round the corner much nicer people.

I have eaten hear before no problem but always dinner in yesterday I popped in for a jumbo fish and chips but took it home the fish although as large as usual was notisably thinner and about half way down became very thin dry and hard if I had eaten in I would have returned it for a refund (something I have noticed other dinners doing of late but always put down too fussy eaters maybe I was wrong) may be the shines wearing off from the amazing food of the opening days?

Member of staff was understanding to what I wanted to order, even interrupting me when giving my phone number! Never was informed I couldn't have spicy fish with meal deal 1 and said said she'd place the order, went to collect and it was normal fish, I said I ordered spicy, then I was informed you can't have spicy with the meal deal yet I'd ordered it 2 weeks prior with no problems, no apology no offering to exchange the fish, really rude

First time having mother Hubbards in Streatham ,
Was not impressed, oily and mushy discoloured chips
Fish was bland and dry
Only plus was the crispy batter
Also first time having curry sauce , thin and strange tasting .

Went in the Stockport branch tonight and very very disappointed,the woman serving is the rudest person who has ever served me and needs to learn how to speak to people with respect and the fish and chips are well below the standard of other mother Hubbards and left a nasty taste in the roof of my mouth, really really awful food and best to avoid really and go to the excellent Oldham branch

I will take this platform to share my best experience with Mother Hubbards Bury team .
All the team went out of their way and made my husband’s birthday an extra special one .
We ordered a coconut sponge with hot custard and when requested for making a surprise for my husband who was totally unaware about the greeting coming his way made it a priceless moment for us.
Highly recommend to enjoy the amazing experience and ambience and the cleanliness of the restaurant!
And above all the human connect !!

As a Yorkshireman that has suffered poor fish and chips in Birmingham (except Bedders of course) for around 30 years, I have now found a great venue in my home town of Kings Heath.

My overall score has to be 8 out of 10, and if it was on a plate and had a sea view (which is impossible of course) it would have been a 10.

I opted for the traditional Special Haddock with chips and mushy peas and my wife had a spicy version and we sat in the restaurant to eat them. I should say that both dishes were cooked excellently and the batter was not under or over done and were not at all greasy.

My only recommendation would be to serve diners in the restaurant with a proper plate, rather than a cardboard box. I might be old fashioned, but this would make it feel more like a restaurant, rather than McDonalds/KFC.
