Absolutely fantastic fit out for chip shop unfortunately, I didn't notice that it doesn't sell pork sausages. It was a mixture of chicken and all sorts of meats which is not a proper chip shop. I wou... See more

This was the most disgusting pie chips…
This was the most disgusting steak and kidney pie chips and gravy that I have ever had the misfortune to taste. The pie filling tasted off,the pastry wasn't cooked, the gravy was tasteless like floured water and the chips tasted terrible. I won't be coming here again, I felt sick from eating it so threw it away. I've been to mother hubbards restaurants before and they have been OK but I think this has put me off going to any ever again. I would like my money back but I already threw the food away
A warm welcome at Mother Hubbards
The brand new Mother Hubbards in Kingsheath, is a beautiful, and immaculate establishment. We had a wonderful time there today with the family. They offer Great prices, and generous portions….smiles all round for a 10/10 service.
Will definitely be back very soon ! :-)
Rude lady staff
Had a bad experience at Lakeside Thurrock from a female staff member today, she was very rude. I ordered fish and chips and tartar sauce at about 6pm today for take away, picked up my order and went to the car park and I realised the tartar sauce is not there and I had to go back. I wanted to ensure it was warm so I ran, then I asked for tartar sauce twice. The first time she ignored me, but the second time she looked mad and she said that I had to wait for my order. I explained that I just wanted the two missing tartar sauce but she turned her back. Then, I went to the male staff member and he gave me it straight away. Even though I enjoyed the meal, I still feel angry to that lady staff she is the only lady there
Mother Hubbards Baildon
Hoping this review is in the right place for Mother Hubbard's Baildon.
Took mum for her birthday lunch (her one wish was for fish & chips!) and it was lovely.
The restaurant area is warm, clean, comfortable and welcoming. Our server/restaurant manager/waitress was so patient, kind and friendly, without being intrusive. I don't know her name, but I know she's the same age as my mum and her birthday is 2nd December - she wished my mum a happy birthday and advised on the senior's offer.
The food was delicious. We all had fish and chips, one with a bap, some mushy peas and curry sauce. everything was perfectly cooked, piping hot and delicious. It's making me hungry again just thinking about it (sadly I'm 200 miles away and our local chippy can't compare).
While we were there, here was a single lady hiker, an older couple and a group of students in too. Everyone was served promptly and we heard them also praising the food.
Highly recommend.
Really disappointing
Really disappointing.
Went in to eat in.
Ordered chips, peas and gravy. Waited over 20 minutes ( the place was empty) I don't object to waiting if I'm forewarned. Chips were very dry, peas in a tiny pot plus it came in a cardboard box! And wooden flimsy folk.
I paid extra to eat in so was expecting a real plate and proper folk. Won't be back
STOCKPORT
We walked in around 5.45, waited a few minutes to order in person as the shop was busy. We were served by Taylor who was very pleasant. He took our order and we found a table for ourselves as we were eating in. The shop had a busy lively atmosphere with music, chatter, staff bringing out orders and people waiting for their take aways. Ours was ready within 15 minutes. The fish was actually the best I've ever had from a chip shop, juicy, large flakes of haddock in plentiful, light crisp batter all perfectly cooked. Portions are generous and prices very good. I don't know why some reviews seem poor - maybe eating in gives the best experience as the food was straight from cooked to table, hot, still crisp and juicy. Everything was just spot on - our food included fish, chips and peas £10 and a Beef and Onion Pie extra deal with gravy and peas £6.30 all in. If you're in Stockport and like a good chippy meal then I would recommend you try this. Eat in first time for the freshest experience. We'll try a take away next time and see how it compares.
Ordered jumbo fish and chips from…
Ordered jumbo fish and chips from duckworth Lane charged £17 gave two small bits of fish overcooked then said nothing can be done no apology never use them again very poor to none customer service
Stockport A6
Absolutely disgusting. Microwaved pie and old chips. The manager is about 20 years old and the staff were 1 asian woman, 1 jamaican woman and an asian cooking ENGLISH FOOD. Got a full refund and went to a proper chippy
Tried the new Stockport’s Franchise wouldn’t rush back.
Tried the new Stockport’s Franchise.
Unfortunately the chips were not nice and batter on fish was very greasy however the fish was big and staff friendly.
Other local Chippies cheaper and better quality so a bit of a let down.
Lovely staff and lovely food
Baildon branch
Baildon branch. Great surroundings. Lovely restaurant. Fish was superb. Light crispy batter and hot. Chips/cold & a bit scratty (wasn’t too bothered as I enjoyed the fish very much) Tartare sauce was spot on. They made a fuss of my grandson as it was his 13th birthday. Played happy birthday song and gave him a big piece of chocolate cake and ice cream. Also ice cream for his brother.
Donna was our waitress-amazing lady. Hard working, polite & nothing too much trouble. Thumbs up. HNY 2025

I had an amazing experience at Mother Hubbard Bury! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions and a fantastic variety of options. I highly recommend the fish and chips – they were some of the best I've ever had! Overall, I would definitely give Mother Hubbard Bury five stars and can't wait to return
Mother Hubbard in Lancaster is…
Mother Hubbard in Lancaster is categorically the worst fish and chip shop I’ve ever eaten at and there’s been plenty!
I thought I’d give them a try as it’s new in town and a few items on their menu caught my eye online.
I ordered the dynamite chicken wings, adding chips for an extra £1.50 as advertised.
The shop was empty so I sat in and waited about 15 minutes for my order. The chicken was breadcrumbed and over cooked and didn’t come with any of the advertised dynamite sauce and wasn’t in the slightest bit spiced, maybe it is the missing sauce that’s the spicy element! Chips, which I was charged full price for and not the advertised extra £1.50 were big, fat, warm and bone dry!
All in all a pretty shocking experience and not one that I will ever repeat!
The Walthamstow mother and hubbards…
The Walthamstow mother and hubbards worst everrrr. The way they treat their customer and staff is digusting. The manager is rude and has no managing skills at all. It is owned by a family pretty sure its a franchise horrible service they dont even wash their hands nasty people and nasty food.
Nice new shiny interior but that’s about it (Bury)
What a let down… was really looking forward to the doors opening in the new Bury branch but the full experience in particular the main event being the food was disappointing. Even at 50% off it was horrible with everything being oily, greasy and overcooked. Don’t get me started on any of the sides… disgusting. When food is made without love and care it shows in the end product and crucially the taste. Stick to your local chippy (in our case in our neighbour town of Rochdale). Better for your pocket and far tastier.
Hats off......
Tried the Burton branch. I ordered a spicy chicken burger and chips. My son had a chicken wrap with chips.
Food was absolutely delicious. Wasn't waiting too long either. Food cooked as requested without sauce etc.
I paid around £16.50 for two meals with 2 teas. Definitely worth it compared to kfc and burger king.
Staff were lovely. Most working in the social sector could do with taking a leaf out of this woman's book. Pure professional and friendly. Not seen customer service as good as this in donkeys years.
Amazing Fresh & Tasty food always…
Amazing Fresh & Tasty food always @MotherHubbardsErdington .
Fantastic customer service and always polite.
Mediocre fish and chips thrown at you…
Mediocre fish and chips thrown at you in a cardboard box, not a plate, with a wooden knife and fork to eat them with, Tomato sauce at 35p per sachet after paying outrageous price for the meal plus foul pop in a can no glass supplied, never again.
