Very badly pot bound
Very badly pot bound. Badly pruned, didn’t look much like a Xmas tree. It had been topped and needles were dropping. I repotted straight away, fingers crossed it will survive, but it will never be a great specimen

Hi Steve - this is really helpful feedback. I think you ordered a 4ft Norway Spruce still in it's nursery pot - these definitely need potting on or into the ground. The trees have been grown in the pot and to achieve a tree of decent height and spread which is not too heavy to be moved does mean that the roots are always much more developed than for our other plants. The majority of customers choose a larger decorative pot into which we have already potted the tree on. All the Spruces are topped (as they have long leaders) but the leader is quickly replaced and the effect is to produce a fuller bushier tree. Here's hoping the tree goes on to be a great specimen after all!

Underwhelming
The delivery guy was nice and brought the tree to my door, on the first floor.
The tree was full, but I didn't like that the branches were pointing up and there was no smell of Christmas tree in the house. It also died fairly quickly, but I only watered it once and not immediately after receiving it, as instructed.
It was nice to have a tree and my cat had a blast trying to climb it, but it was underwhelming enough that I'm now considering getting a fake one.

We're glad the cat had fun, at least! Our Norway Spruces do have upward growing branches. Maybe a Nordmann Fir would suit better next time for you. Unfortunately, if you keep the tree inside and don't give it enough water it is going to struggle.
Lovely Xmas tree
Lovely Xmas tree, delivered to my door very healthy although not grown in the pot as web site suggests as was clearly just potted. Poor advice stating keep in home 1 month when it should be 12 days max ! Even then the tree did drop quite a lot of needles before returning outside. An email from company does state will lose some needles all in all very happy with tree lots of compliments as very bushy and lovely scent.

Hi Paul - thanks for this really helpful feedback. Rest assured, the trees are definitely pot-grown. We take the time to repot them on arrival with us in November into larger decorative pots so that they have plenty of room to grow during the following year (and so they look lovely inside)
You're right of course that the shorter time the tree is inside the healthier it will be for the coming year, but we have plenty of success with trees that are kept indoors for up to a month.
