Scam company - avoid
I bought six t-shirts on the 11th September and it took four days for the items to be dispatched (on 15th September 2022, arriving on the 16th). The fit wasn't great for any of the six, but I originally intended to settle for three. It also took six days for the merchant to start the returns process for three, having requested a return after delivery.
It took a further eight days for a refund to be processed after the retailer received them, having to raise a Paypal dispute to hasten the process. The website stated "no hassle returns". The excuse used was "our offices have been sadly closed due to the recent death of the Queen." Yet, that didn't stop the items being posted although that happened on the 8th September 2022, and the Queen's funeral being on the 19th.
That raised alarm bells, along with the emergence of other unfavourable reviews and a disproportionate amount of favourable reviews. I therefore requested to return the remaining three t-shirts that had the tags removed, but were never worn. This was refused, the retailer replying "We cannot accept your returns request for items that have been worn, used or the tags have been removed." This is contrary to the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Muscle Fit Basics state "We will be happy to accept exchanges on items that are:
• Unused and in its original condition—must be placed neatly back in packaging
• Unworn, unmarked and unwashed
• In the original packaging or box
• Not defective as a result of misuse
• Tags/labels still attached"
However, this is contrary to the CC(ICAC) 2013 Regulation 34(9) which states even used items can be returned ("If (in the case of a sales contract) the value of the goods is diminished by any amount as a result of handling of the goods by the consumer beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods, the trader may recover that amount from the consumer, up to the contract price."), and could therefore be considered as unfair terms under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Even if the item is worn, and even if the tags are removed, a consumer is entitled to a refund. The retailer is entitled to make a deduction. However, no deduction should be made merely for removing tags which can easily be reattached. The retailer's response below is unlawful, and indicative of his lack of adherance to the consumer rights of his customers.
I've been engaged in an ongoing dispute for five months (now February 2023) alongside my credit card company to ensure my rights are upheld.
As an aside to my main complaint, it should be noted that the merchant is also using logos of mainstream publications such as Vogue and The Times, but there do not appear to be any articles relating to the merchant. At the time of purchase, the merchant did also not hold a valid license from the Information Commissioner's Office to process personal data on a commercial basis, contrary to Data Protection (Charges and Information) Regulations 2018. Any customer's data is therefore being processed unlawfully.
A previous iteration of Muscle Fit Basics was incorporated in 2017 and dissolved in 2019 (with one of the director names matching who I was corresponding with), creating further concerns (anybody can check this on the Companies House website). Finally, Trustpilot appear to have removed a number of sham reviews from this page, says it all ...
March 2023 update: like other negative reviewers, I’ve had a message from Trustpilot saying my review will be removed if I don’t supply more information.

Returned a couple of t-shirts as they didn’t fit right and was emailed a free exchange label twice so that I could find the right size. Quality is excellent and customer service even better. The delivery was fast with Royal Mail too, wasn’t shipped from overseas which happens a lot these days. Great all round.

Outstanding service after Royal Mail strikes!
Outstanding! After numerous washings, the shirts still look new and fit perfectly. I’ve tried many other brands and these are by far the best quality.. Customer service was great and delivery was pretty fast, Royal Mail are going through some strikes at the moment so can't blame the item arriving a little later than expected.

Order was processed quickly and efficiently, delivered in good time and good condition. Excellent quality, as expected- the shirts fit well and stay looking good due to the weight of the fabric. Just wish they did a middle ground between M and L, as I land just between the two!

Crap quality and equally crap service
The only thing I can recommend you do with this company is that you don’t purchase any of their rubbish. They suggest they are a premium quality product - it’s not.
T shirt arrived and it was mislabelled as an XL when I ordered an L. Handwritten note saying it should be a UK L. Not a great start.
Fit of the T shirt was ok but not great.
First wash, followed instructions exactly - cool wash, not tumble drying etc and it shrank in the body!
Contacted their team in order to return and they said they wouldn’t take it back as they “couldn’t resell it”! Well of course you couldn’t - the product is faulty. Told them this and they then suggested I had hung it up to dry in “extremely hot conditions”. Total joke. Crap product and a crap service - avoid.
