When as a Dad you are not around to help..

My son lives in Canberra but I live in Adelaide. When his car had radiator issues, I was hoping he could find a good place to get it repaired. He did. Thanks to mycar Gungahlin for honest assessment of the issues, great advice and support and effective repairs. Put my mind at ease as a 'remote Dad'. Thanks guys.

Tyres did not match the offer/quote

I called myCar the previous day enquiring about Bridgestone tyres and the lady I spoke to kindly agreed to match the price Bob Jane Tmart were offering. However, after dropping my car for service and tyre replacement, I was told I could only get different tyres at full price, not the tyres I wanted at the price I was quoted. To avoid having to book my car in twice I went with this offer even though. This was unsatisfactory.

Misleading and patronising

I made a booking online using the Mycar website after specifying all details of my vehicle (2019 Mazda CX5 GT), I placed an order for the replacement of 4 tyres - Pirelli Scorpion 225/55R19, booked the fitting for 22/1/2026 and paid in full ($1,205) as required when making an online booking.
About 30 minutes after I dropped my car off on 22/1, I received a phone call from Jordan saying he had checked my vehicle and saw that it would require 19” tyres but that due to system error 16” Pirelli tyres were delivered, and were therefore unable to fit. He apologised for the system error and offered to re-order the Pirelli tyres in 19” size. Jordan said that there is a price difference for the 19” tyres but due to the order being their error he would waive the additional cost because I’ve already paid in accordance with the online order, and that the car should be rebooked for 23/1 at 3pm he said they would be able to fit the new tyres in 1 hour.
I returned on 23/1, they ended up taking until 5.30pm for my car to be ready.
I drove home only to see that Continental tyres had been fitted to my vehicle.
This is incredibly disrespectful and misleading, as nothing was said to me about changing the brand of tyres and obviously these were not the type I ordered and paid for.
As the store was now closed I rang the next day (Saturday), saying they had fitted the incorrect tyres yesterday and I wanted to rebook for this to be rectified. Jordan was ‘unavailable’ so the employee said they would discuss with him and call me back. Later that afternoon I received a call back from the employee saying Jordan had told him that yes he had spoken to me and said he would be using a different brand for the 19” and that he wouldn’t charge me extra.
This is categorically incorrect and I feel the level of unprofessionalism is astounding, that is manipulative and dishonest.
I disagreed with that statement and said that I am not happy with Continental tyres and I wish to have the Pirelli tyres fitted as that is what I ordered and paid for. The employee said they can arrange that and referred to the 30 day satisfaction guarantee, and that they would need to ring around to find the Pirelli tyres and they would call me back on 27/1 with an update.
For the following week I had not received any follow up phone call or contact from Mycar Gungahlin. Again, unprofessional service.
Today 2/2 I have rang Mycar asking for an update about the tyres, speaking to Jordan, he has now told me that all versions and types of Pirelli tyres in all sizes are not available anywhere in Australian warehouses.
He did not offer any options, or explanations about having told me the previous week it was their error and he would fix it. No apology.
It is worth noting that your website says the Pirelli are currently available.
I have also checked many other companies websites and can see that there many types and sizes of Pirelli tyres available for immediate sale now.
I find this entire process of how my order has been managed, at every step, to be completely unacceptable.
I have been told three different things on each contact with them. I have dropped my car to have work performed twice, and had three phone calls and there is no resolution to the fact that the contracted agreement to perform this work is incomplete.
The guarantee means nothing as it is not upheld.
Upon reflection I also believe it is unethical to demand payment in full prior to any work being performed. As a customer, this leaves me with no recourse when the business does not deliver on the written agreement.
Suggest you avoid this business altogether.
They are dishonest and patronising and will not communicate with respect.
