Many people expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of products, citing issues such as items breaking down quickly, manufacturing defects, and products not meeting expected durability. How the great have fallen

Bought a Russell Hobbs Glass Kettle and my wife switched it on to boil up some water to make a cup of tea and the glass cracked and boiling hot water leaked all over the worktop. The kettle was just slightly over the one year guarantee so I could not get a replacement. Russell Hobbs used to be a good reliable British brand but it just makes cheaply made , unreliable products nowadays that are manufactured in China. I could not honestly recommend them to anyone any longer as as this once great British company is reduced to selling cheaply made, poor quality products.

Warranty expires in days on new product

My toaster broke down. Popping, crackling and smelling electrical. All advice forums said unplug, do not use and get rid of.

Russell Hobbs got me to plug in again, make a video, supply the invoice (thank you Amazon) and explain again the problem.

Today I received a brand new toaster but the warranty expires in 5 days based on the old warranty for the old damaged/broken device.

That seems weird. A brand new device which would usually attract at least a one year warranty only gets the standard of the old 2 year device and it's a 2 year warranty...proper strange that I think.

I'd hope Russell Hobbs would have as much confidence in their product as I would spending money on it and provide a warranty of at least 1 year...but no.

Pity as their kettle ain't much better either. Once products are complete I may not buy from them again as they are not of good quality and Russell Hobbs do not appear to have much confidence in them either.

Buyer beware

I bought the 7lt slow cooker by Russell Hobbs from very a couple of weeks ago, however when I unpacked it from the box and put it on my work surface until I put the box away, then when I moved the appliance I noticed that it had caused scratches to my work surface which I am not at all happy about.I complained to Russell Hobbs directly and provided all the information which they asked me for,I was assured by the online chat person that my case would be escalated and I would hear back, which of course I have not.I needed to use the slow cooker so when it came time to wash the actual cooking pot , I noticed that it again had also scratched my work surface beside the sink.I had to go to the expense of buying a surface colour paint to try and disguise the scratches in both areas of my work surface. So buyer beware in addition, I would say that the entire unit from RH is very heavy so if anyone has arthritis in their hands it is a heavy item, and if buying I can only suggest that when putting on surfaces please place on a trivet.I turned the item over and there was no covers on the screws which is what obviously caused the scratches and as for the actual cooking pot it is a glazed earthenware material again very rough on the bottom which has obviously caused the additional scratches to my work top.so for all of those reasons I will only give it one star.

Bought the Brontë Kettle and Toaster

UPDATE***
Finally, Russell Hobbs gave us a prepaid label. I am satisfied with this outcome. But it was frustrating at first having to ‘fight’ to get a prepaid returns label.

Bought the Brontë Kettle and Toaster. When we took out the kettle we were shocked at how different the colour was from the images online and on the box itself. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the products and how different they looked from the images. It looked cream on the photos online, although it states the colour as stone. But it’s got a pinky/purple tinge. Not what we expected at all. Plus the kettle handle looks shiny on the images but it a tacky, cheap looking Matt finish.
We contacted customer services to return the products. We asked for a prepaid label but we were told we’d have to return the 8kg package at our own expense. I feel this is unfair. We shouldn’t have to pay to return products that have never been used. Plus, they suggest we get signed for postage which will cost even more. The audacity.
Not a happy customer. And won’t be buying any more Russell Hobbs products and certainly won’t be recommending them based solely on their customer service and returns policy. It’s not much for a large company to cover the cost of returns for small kitchen appliances.

POOR RESPONSE TO WARRANTY REPAIRS

My issue concerns an Electric Kettle, the electrics in this failed and I was asked to send pictures of it, RH then claimed that the heat stain on the metal base was a sign that it had not been descaled, where I live in Fife Scotland our water is about as pure as it gets with no mineral deposits at all, but they claim the heat stain is a mineral deposit which it is not, even if it had been this should not affect the electrics in any way, these are quite separate from the interior of the said Kettle.

Appalling design - can't be cleaned properly.

The design of their toasted sandwich maker is appalling. After just one use, cheese / butter had clearly gone into cracks and crevices which couldn’t be cleaned. Even after disassembling half of the thing (six screws) it was still not possible to adequately clean it. So one use and it’s going in the bin.

Good customer service

My rice cooker broke down unexpectedly after light usage for over a year, after following the procedure with customer service the product was replaced. The product in itself is good and works without any other issues.

Terrible after sales service. Fobbed off and told to contact Amazon

I purchased a microwave oven via Amazon 6 months ago so it’s still within warranty. It has had very light use, mostly warming milk for coffee, part cooking jacket potatoes and heating one serving bags of ‘steam packet’ veg as well, as the odd ready meal. The appliance is always wiped out after use with a microfibre cloth and plain water or water and diluted white vinegar. Just last week I noticed that it has developed white speckles all over the interior of the oven. These won’t wipe away and can’t be felt at all so clearly they’re in the actual material used for the oven and door linings. I contacted RH, via the Amazon portal. Explained and sent photos. Initially they said it was a cleaning issue and direct me to clean it in exactly the way I have been doing already, for the last 6 months! When I pressed the matter, their technical team has declared this phenomenon ‘wear and tear’ so can’t help! Despite the warranty and clear photos of the issue. They suggested that if I was unhappy with their response I could contact Amazon. Which I did. Amazon looked at my complaint, took it seriously and have arranged a full refund and also a label and collection for the defective product. Thank you Amazon but shame on you, Russell Hobbs. Clearly you don’t care about having repeat customers. I shall never purchase anything else from this brand.

I am writing to express my outrage and…

I am writing to express my outrage and disappointment at the appalling quality of your slow cooker, which I purchased and used only once before it broke. The entire bottom of the cooker separated from the rest of the unit, rendering it completely useless.

This experience is not surprising, given the poor ratings your company receives from customers. It's clear that Russell Hobbs prioritizes profits over producing reliable, durable products.

I am particularly disgusted by the fact that your company's products are essentially designed to end up in landfills. As someone who tries to live sustainably, I am appalled by the waste and environmental damage caused by companies like yours that prioritize short-term gains over long-term sustainability.

I do not want a refund or any further dealings with your company. I simply want to express my disgust and disappointment at the poor quality of your products and the harm your company causes to the environment.

Russell Hobbs what a lie delivery

Russell Hobbs

Is one of the worst companies. I ordered my kettle six days ago, and it was supposed to be delivered the next day, but that didn’t happen. I called them, and they told me they would deliver it today; however, after two days, nothing happened. I called them again, and they said they didn’t know anything. I asked them to cancel the order and refund the deducted amount. They told me it wasn’t possible. We have to cancel the order first, which takes a week, and then we will look into returning the amount, which takes another week. They mentioned on their website (free next-day delivery) what a lie!

Burning Issue with Russell Hobbs Kettle Plug

I bought a Russell Hobbs Quiet Boil kettle in May. After 2 months we smelt burning coming from the plug. We tried to remove the plug from the socket but it wouldn't budge. We had to get an electrician to remove the socket and attach a new socket cover. He confirmed that the prong of the plug had melted and that he couldn't remove the plug - Cost £86 I duly got in touch with RH and sent the kettle with attached socket cover back to them. They decided that the problem was caused by inserting the 3 pin UK plug into the socket incorrectly! The Electrician was astounded by this decision. He confirmed that the (Chinese) plug was likely to be faulty. RH insist it was my fault. The customer service department is in Romania where they have 2 pin plugs which can be inserted incorrectly and can pose a fire risk. We are lucky there wasn't a fire and that w are only £86 and the cost of a new kettle out of pocket. Russell Hobbs refused to consider a refund and payment of Electrician's fee. They did offer a replacement kettle provided it was chosen within one month but as I had to purchase a new kettle immediately after the event this was not a solution

Russell Hobbs Honeycomb Electric 1.7L…

Russell Hobbs Honeycomb Electric 1.7L Cordless Kettle (Fast Boil 3KW, White premium plastic, matt & high gloss finish, Removable washable anti-scale filter, Push button lid, Perfect pour spout) 26050

We bought this kettle before and found it to be great , good poor light. They must of changed their manufacturing as it wobbles when on base and could prove dangerous as it wobbles quite a bit on its base, our last one didn’t. We tried four, two from Amazon and one from Argos and 1 from Sainsbury all the same. Russell Hobbs didn’t want to know advised them it could prove potentially dangerous especially for the elderly. Said they would pass on the comments to a department but wouldn’t advise me of any outcome.

Poor customer service

I bought a microwave about 18months ago, mostly used for heating coffee and occasional defrosting. Yesterday there was a loud noise and the turntable connector had burnt out, cracking the glass plate. Customers services sad it was my fault for not stirring coffee every 10 seconds, though this is nowhere mentioned in their instruction booklet. Having daid that, they offered no further help
Deeply unimpressed and won't be buying a replacement (or anything else) from.the.

Excellent Customer Service

I had an issue with my Russell Hobbs blender after just one use, and I reached out to their customer service. I was genuinely impressed by how quickly and professionally they responded. The representative was polite, helpful, and understanding, and they arranged a free replacement without any hassle.

It’s rare these days to receive such responsive and thoughtful support. I’m very satisfied with how everything was handled and feel confident continuing to use Russell Hobbs products. Highly recommended!
