I bought a new Russell Hobbs kettle last week and, as instructed, filled and boiled and emptied it twice. When I inspected the inside of the kettle I saw the floor was discoloured, as if it had degra... See more

Worlds worst products and even worse customer service
I brought a glass on gas Russe hobbs hob back in 2022 from curry’s. Everything was fine except around December last year the large left burner started to not work as efficiently and basically stopped working. Also there was this problem that all russell hobb hobs had with the gas to hob valve which was faulty and a serious threat as it could cause fires and explosions. In January someone came in to look at that from British Gas but they didn’t change the part like they said they would and only tightened the valve leaving it still dangerous. I have to three year warranty for this hob btw. Last Friday the entire glass shattered completely and it was NOT in use. I called russell Hobbs that same day and they sed they’re passing it to the technical team and would call me back. They called me the next day telling me to call another number on Monday which I did but they were closed due to bank holiday. I called again Tuesday and they sed they would send me an email to reply back with pictures and order confirmations within a couple minutes. 5 hours had passed no call back no email so I called them again and they said the email didn’t send and sent it to me again I received the email and did as they asked. They didn’t call back that day or the next even though they sed they will let me know first thing the next day. So I called them again on Wednesday and they sed they need even more pictures which I then provided and they sed they would call me back. Today I received and email saying it looked like accidental damage and they can’t do anything about it and I should get in contact with curry’s. I called them as they said they were going to call but they never did and just sent and email instead. The lady on the phone said they can’t do anything at all as accidental damage isn’t covered by their warranty. I’m sorry but I had stated multiple times that it can’t be accidental damage if it wasn’t in use but they just weren’t having it saying the pictures indicated there was impact on the left hand side. How can it be accidental damage if it wasn’t in use at all on Friday or even Saturday evening and night. I just hung up the phone and proceeded to write this review. This was one of the most frustrating experience I have ever had and these customer service people were not helpful at all. They say they will do something and either don’t do it or do something completely different. Also for the past almost week they’ve been juggling me around over the phone saying call this person call that person or we’ll tell this team and let you know or we’ll tell that team and let you know and they didn’t even let me know. It was very poor customer service and I am not happy with it at all. Please refrain from buying from russell Hobbs and save yourself the aggravation, time, and money.
Hand whisk so badly designed
Hand whisk so badly designed. I agree with Tommy T. The whisk won’t stand up on end when you need to put it down. The ridiculous 6 speeds are: very fast, faster, and slightly faster than that with no noticeable variability or control suggested by the silly 6 numbers! Why?? What if I want a slow speed? Why claim to have 6 when really it manages 1. Still, It will whisk up eggs or a cake no trouble. Very messy. I just suggest some rethink over who they employ to design such an embarrassment. It would be so easy to create a good one.
Do not buy from Russell Hobbs directly
Do not buy from Russell Hobbs. They charge you for returns, they don't include a returns slip and make it very difficult to return items. Given that you only see a picture on-line there is a good chance you may want to return an item. Clearly it will be expensive to return as they kettles toasters etc don't fit in an envelope. If you must buy from them go to Argos or Curry's DO NOT BUY DIRECTLY FROM RUSSELL HOBBS
hand mixer - spectacularly bad
I use a hand whisk/mixer regularly, so regularly that my old one needed replacing.
I got this RH one for my 62nd birthday. Wow. There are several disastrous design flaws that defy the limits of stupidity. Did Homer Simpson design this?
So, to assist standing the item on end when it is not in use, the base of the unit is flat. However this is at an inadequate angle so a flange has been added to tilt the item even further back. That works - until you add the whisks. Plunk. Doh.
And then, having whisked up some cream you need to eject the whisks. This is to be done by pressing down on the on/off/speed switch. This switch is on an angle so it is easier to accidentally restart the whisks than eject them, thus covering you and your kitchen in residual cream. Doh.
Russell Hobbs warranty worthless
Russell Hobbs refused to replace my mum's leaking kettle, even though it started leaking almost immediately, because she didn't descale it and this, apparently, voids the warranty. Even though the kettle is new and HAS NO SCALE TO REMOVE as she lives in a soft water area. Ridiculous nonsense invented to rip customers off.
Purchased a kettle which slowly started…
Purchased a kettle which slowly started to go wrong. It leaked scalding water from the top as I poured into the tea pot. Then the lid stuck now it’s got condensation all over the top of the kettle as it boils it’s only a matter of time before one of us gets scaled. It was not a cheap purchase. So far they have asked for one thing after another photos address name purchase receipt etc. still no sign of any replacement ( not sure I want one) or a refund. Customer service non existent.
The most pathetic service ever
Kettle failed...under warranty
Kettle failed...under warranty, no problem? Russell Hobbs just wriggled out of there responsabilty....say did not descale it enough....nothing to do with the actual failure....never buy again.
Received a microwave RHMDL model
Received a microwave RHMDL model
13 months went on fire phoned there customer service
Useless
They then take the squib of a microwave back
They done tests and said it contained moisture
And that’s why it went on fire
If you want to listen to twaddle and rubbish
Buy one of there microwaves .toasters. Or any product from RH
I was told by the rude customer service girl
Before they collected the faulty microwave
They don’t give refunds or replacements
That was before they had even inspected the appliance
Go buy elsewhere
Russell Hobbs 500W Ceramic Plug Heater…
Russell Hobbs 500W Ceramic Plug Heater item is cheaply made. It was used only about dozen times and stopped working during the night time with burnt smell started to come out if it. Fan is stuck and overall my item is dangerous to use. Russell Hobbs customer service is terrible. Will not be buying this brand any more.
Black day for good user-centred design
119 years since the first electric toaster was invented and heaven knows how many people graduating from design courses over the decades, but Russell Hobbs still manages to give us a toaster featuring a black control knob with a black line etched into it and black numbers on the toaster's side where the black control knob's black reflection provides a perfectly black background for you to try to read the numbers against.
Purchased a microwave in August
Purchased a microwave in August. Last week I placed 2 plates in to heat up. After 5 seconds the actual microwave ring had caught fire. Contacted the lady at Customer service who was extremely rude and unhelpful. Basically told me you shouldn’t reheating food and said there was nothing they could do and I need to purchase a new Microwave. If I had popped out of the room the whole machine would have caught fire and caused a huge issue. Both services I contacted were extremely rude and utterly useless. Never buying an appliance from Russell hobbs again!
Sadly, no longer a reliable company.
I purchased the RHMM701R microwave at the beginning of this year to replace my old one ( not a Russell Hobs) which I donated to charity. I thought I would achieve my morning routine of simply heating ready-made porridge pots and rice pudding with the least bother and no mess. Alarmingly, the microwave started "bumping" and the porridge/rice pudding jumped out of its pot making a mess. I was informed by their tech team that it was because it was a milk-based product.
My experience of Russel Hobbs is very similar to many others who have posted on Trustpilot. Endless emails to customer services describing the problem with photos attached. Eventually, I was emailed by the Customer Engagement Escalations Advisor WOW. She was very rude and basically “fobbed me off”
I did not expect such treatment from a once reputable, reliable company. I will never buy one of their products again.
Customer service ignored me
I used my new stick blender from amazon for the first time and it melted and snapped in half. I contacted russell hobbs as instructed by amazon (where I bought it from). I provided all information required on the form plus photos of the now unusable blender. I had one email response from them asking for all of the information again. So I sent the receipt, photos, explanation and all of the model numbers ect. Just to be completely ignored! I was cut off on live chat, and had all correspondence completely ignored by customer service. I even sent another email asking if they needed anything else. I'm appalled. There's absolutely no excuse for such disregard for customers when there's a genuine fault with an item. I will, not be trusting this brand again. Faults are fair enough but to go out of your way to completely ignore your customers when there's an issue is just bad business.
Warranty is useless
Purchased several RH kettles all fail just at the end of the warranty. Last one I bought I registered on their website for a so called extended warranty. Now this kettle has also failed sent in receipt as requested but no reply back from them. Filled out complaint form on website also ignored. Will never buy a RH product again. They just don’t care.
I'm in Tesco walking pass Russel hobbs…
I'm in Tesco walking pass Russel hobbs iron, after my Russel hobbs steam tank iron packed up and the spear Russel hobb hand iron just stopped working within 9 month, I am now turning to alternatives not everything that glitter is gold.
Steam & Clean RHSM1101-G…
I bought the Steam & Clean RHSM1101-G Steam Mop. The first few times I used it I was quite impressed, but the it randomly made a popping noise and literally bits flew off it. I found the bits which turned out to be buttons which hold it together, and springs. I tried to fix it, and use it again, but this time the whole casing fell apart beyond repair. I tried to contact Russell Hobbs to advise them, using a contact form on their site, but never had a response. I've now thrown it away. Daylight robbery! I think its worth paying a bit extra for something that will last longer than 4-5 uses and you're then less likely to sustain injury too!
Poor quality products. Russell Hobbs just don't care!
Over the past several years we've had 3x RH kettles & they've all failed either within or just after the guarantee expired. Last one was an expensive 'designer' Emma Bridgewater (23907) which failed within the 3yr extended warranty period, but Russell Hobbs refused to honour it.
Also had a travel kettle (23840) which again failed under warranty. That was replaced... but then the replacement also failed with the same fault!
I would NOT recommend anyone purchase a RH product & we certainly will never buy another again.
Cheap 'assembled in China' rubbish that won't last.
Russell Hobbs 24020-56 met veel lawaai en stoom
Russell Hobbs 24020-56 Adventure Thermal Brushed - Filterkoffiezetapparaat - Thermoskan
Cusomer Service at Russell Hobbs... A JOKE!!
After RH payment system went horribly wrong, as indicated in the body of my communication with them as shown herewith, and many e-mails later and before, I have given them considerable time to 'put things right' but guess what? NOTHING!!
Dear Andreea M
Thank you for your response to my e-mail. You are correct in your assumption that I would be unhappy with your decision! I am manifestly not at all happy! Unfortunately you appear to have been unable to grasp or understand the root reason for my having to complain to you. You appear to believe the reason to be associated with the price of the fryer which it emphatically is not!! The root cause of my complaint is the unacceptable time taken for me to expedite payment for the item as a result of your faulty, flawed and unacceptable on-line systems. The payment process worked not at all and your on-line contact form is also unusable. My three attempts to pay resulted in me wasting three plus hours in addition to me losing another two plus hours trying to use your contact form, again three times simply to be told ‘there has been an error - contact the organisation from whom you purchased the item’ – this of course being YOURSELVES!!
It is clear that you do not take the trouble to fully read what the hapless customer communicates to you! My on-line experience plus a lengthy period on the telephone resulted in me wasting a total of circa seven hours and forty minutes, not to mention another hour or so producing this e-mail, - totally unacceptable. I considered that a compensatory goodwill payment of between £25 and £50 to be an appropriate gesture from yourselves in these circumstances?
Russell Hobbs has a very poor customer service reputation (see your Trustpilot reviews et al) treating your customer base as a merely exploitable biomass. You should be treating your customers as you yourselves would like to be treated in similar circumstances – any group, company, business or individual who fails in their moral duty and responsibility to others is unlikely to succeed and ultimately to fail. In view of the foregoing I trust that you will reconsider your decision and deal with me in a generous and propitious manner.
I have avoided the urge to post this wholly unfortunate affair on Trustpilot and to provide you with the opportunity to deal with me with empathy, humanity and moral sensibility. Am I really required to communicate directly with your CEO (Shaun Richee) that this matter may be resolved to my satisfaction?
Kind regards
Richard.
