Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the service, citing issues such as flight delays, missed connections, and a lack of basic amenities like meals on longer flights. Customers frequently encountered problems with the booking process, particularly when trying to add luggage or manage changes, often leading to frustration and additional costs. The customer service was consistently described as awful, with reports of unhelpful staff, long waiting times, and a complete lack of communication or support when issues arose. Reviewers also felt the pricing for additional services, especially baggage, was extortionate. Conversely, some people were satisfied with the staff, describing them as polite, considerate, and caring. These customers also appreciated the affordability of tickets, especially when combined with early bookings and loyalty points, and found the flights to be on time and the airline family-friendly.

Failing of Norwegian airline services.

Frequently use this Company to visit my son in Finland.
Not the best, just low budget banger. Back in April 20 I booked a fight to Helsinki. All set to go when Covid happen.
Norwegian cancelled, but offered a free booking with extra points rather than refund. The Governments urged people to accept the former, owing to financial restaints on the Airlines.
I obliged an rebooked with no real financial gain, as any points under the cost were lost. However I did my bit and helped. I rebooked for August 20.
Norwegian cancelled again, only they own advertising stated this transfer can only be done once.
I waited for the refund.....to no avail. No matter did, or enquired about, Norwegian had no interest.
They had my cash, and they were never going to refund. To add injury to insult the points expire in December. Basic you will travel with use or use you money. So much for trying to help the Airlines.
I have written this morning to state travel will not be on my agenda to Helsinki, before 2023/24, and I will like a refund. No Chance! In in all their legal goobledegook it states cash goes to money, but cannot be reverse. They still have my cash. The 'can only be done once', is also nonsense. They are keeping my money. £300+ for next years festivities.
The customer agent was helpful though, cheers Edna.
Though she emphatically stated there is no refund, She did say you can put in a formal complaint via.....but they will say the same, before cutting me off. Unfortunately I did not read past reviews, only 11% good...wow.
Well done 'NORWEGIAN AIRLINES/SHUTTLE SERVICE. You must now be in Profit!

I was #ROBBED by this company as so…

I was #ROBBED by this company as so many others have, they stole my long haul flight to Florida, scammed me out of my money, offering trips anywhere in EUROPE and their useless flyer mile #SCAM I’m already in Europe, it’s been two years since I’ve seen my family, but I can’t move forward or buy another ticket until this gets resolved. I may never see my family again, because I trusted this budget airline. I’ll continue to tell everyone I kno My story, and share it on all the social media platforms.
Class action lawsuit anyone? There seems to be a lot of people in this situation!

One of the 30,000 customers that Norwegian Airlines stole their money.

I am another one of the 30,000 customers that had their money stolen from them by Norwegian Airlines. We paid for flights, and they were cancelled. We were never offered a refund, but we were given cash points to use for future travel. The cash points program should be renamed "Scam Points" because you cannot use them to pay for your flights in full. More like a coupon at best. We paid $4000 for 5 flights from the US to Europe, and Norwegian Airlines will no longer provide flights from the US. We were not given refunds, This airlines should simply go out of business as their reputation is not repairable at this point. Many of us will continue to write reviews everyday to warn people of this unethical company. Stealing sums of money of this quantity would surely land individuals in prison for life, but this company gets a chance to continue to steal with seemingly no repercussions. I hope that I live another 60 years so that I can continue to write reviews to warn people to stay away from this airlines because I cannot believe that they were allowed to steal hard earned money from so many customers with no penalties.

Stole money from my family. Proceeding with a law suitcase

Last year 2020 during COVID Norwegian airlines did not refund my family money, even though they promised and said they did refund ...

This was significant loss for my family Trans-Atlantic flight fair for two, which funds they effectively stole from us!

Shame! We live in Europe and we fly frequently. We pledge to never ever use Norwegian airlines regardless of the price.

They are only interested in their own survival as were near collapse even before COVID came.

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY If I could rate minus I would rate minus 100%…

If I could rate minus I would minus 100% - they should refund people for the ending of longhaul flights as per EU law instead we were click baited into a loyalty cashpoint offer (take now before it expires in 14 days!) for reward points which are tantamount to useless. My flight to America no longer exists and i have thousands of cash points which can only be used in Europe and even then only a tiny number of points can be allocated per flight (so you would have to buy multiple Europe flights - so more sales for air norwegian chching! $$$ it is quite clear who this reward program rewards - the airline not the customer whose money they have disingenuously withheld) plus I am in america so cannot use them anyway before they expire.... this is magic money, that you cannot spend except in tiny drips, and that expires in no time at all! This is theft. A scam. It is deeply unethical and i believe unlawful. i will make a claim with a lawyer. I will NEVER EVER use this airline again. Nor will I engage in Norwegian business/leisure more broadly on principle because the Norwegian government has allowed this to happen. I do not trust this airline nor any Norwegian authorities as a result of this daylight robbery. I am deeply appalled as we have all been hit hard by the pandemic. Deceiving and robbing your customers is an interesting approach to a 'loyalty reward' program. Air Norwegian and Norwegian bureaucracy you are a disgrace. An utter, utter disgrace.

I hope they go bust

I paid for flights to Chicago that were cancelled due to covid. I stupidly supported the airline by accepting points instead of a refund. Now they don't fly to Chicago and now I can only use my points for partial payments of future flights meaning I'd have to spend a minimum of £1200 more with them just to use the points. Oh and that £1200 doesn't cover the other things like hotels and spending money that I'd need for the holidays the flights would take me to.

We're having a baby next year so won't be able to 1. afford that £1200+ for flights and 2. Be able to fly for a big chunk of the time the points are valid for.

They have my money and I won't be getting anything for it, how is that not straight up theft?!

They get to change their terms and conditions to fit them and they've left me over £600 out of pocket. They don't care about their customers. I hope they go bust, I hope their investors and anyone else that makes a profit from that company gets their money stolen too.

I am so so sick of such atrocious customer service. They took my money, changed the rules and now I'm left without.

Prøver at redde vores ferie investering. Norwegian vil have ekstra 2600kr for at ændre dato på billetterne (2stk). SUK OG SNYD. Vi kan ikke gøre noget ved de israelske myndigheders Corona restriktioner.
Det burde være andre muligheder

Generally very happy with them, but now after Corona where they got really "hungry" it is a different matter
We were supposed to fly to Israel at the end of the month. Israel does NOT accept tourists / travelers without an Israeli passport (a new restriction ...). These are Corona times ...
There are zero / no Corona exceptions anymore with Norwegian. We were told by a customer service representative that "the plane is flying to Israel", so there is no consideration!
But we CANNOT get into the country, so what do we do .... Trying to save our holiday investment. Norwegian wants an extra DKK 2,600 to change the date on tickets (2 pcs.). I think swindle. We can do nothing about the corona restrictions of the Israeli authorities.
There should be other option

Gave us a refund as "points" under…

Gave us a refund as "points" under false pretenses. They cancelled all flights to and from the USA without warning shortly after. Now I have a ton of points for an airline that is no longer in my country. On top of this I can only use a small portion at a time due to their changes in point usage policies. To make matters worse... They will expire. F%ck this garbage company. A bunch of money grubbing thieves. A bunch of rich greedy a$$holes who are still stuffing their faces in luxury at the expense of others.

So bad as to be unusable

I'd booked a flight from Gatwick to Helsinki with a change of plane in Stockholm. Only when I came to check in (you can only check in 24 hours before the flight) did the website imply - but not make it clear - that I might need a PCR test in order to transit through Stockholm airport (No PCR test needed to enter Finland.) I tried phoning to confirm this. When eventually - and it really was an unacceptably long wait, because they won't employ enough operators - someone picked up the phone, she had no idea about any regulations, and wasn't interested in finding out for me. The whole attitude of Norwegian is that once they've got your money, they couldn't care less, and they don't mind telling you so.

Cheats and lies

Cheats. Prepaid 500 kroner to have a seat next to my daughter in row 4 on her birthday trip. Arrive at the aircraft to find that I am in row 19 and she is in row 17. NEVER EVER USE THIS AIRLINE. TOTAL RIP OFF.

no refund for corona cancelled flight

Still waiting for my refund after one and half years. Called them up and the answer was to wait longer but they could not give me a time limit, an email address or a postal address - booking reference S32AB2. Eventually the contact support hung up on me and she told me that this was protocol.

Will not forget this and not fly with Norwegian again.

PLEASE NEVER USE THIS COMPANY

Please never use this company, they are untrustworthy and stole my money!

I booked a flight to New York with them in good faith. The flight was cancelled due to Covid. They asked me to accept Cash Points as the refund, which I stupidly did to help them out during the difficult period, with the view that I would rebook the flight a year late.

They now no longer fly to New York, they stopped accepting Cash Points for a period and now will only accept Cash Points for a small portion of any future bookings, so I'd have to book (and pay more) for about 20 short haul flights.

Despite all of this, they will not refund the Cash Points and have basically stolen my money.

They are a disgrace and I hope they go out of business soon to protect other consumers.

This company is a disgrace

This company is a disgrace. I booked a refundable flight. My flights were changed making it impossible for me to travel. I requested a refund via phone calls, web chat-bot and email. Months later I have still not had my money back.

We had a round trip flight booked with…

We had a round trip flight booked with Norwegian Air last spring from San Francisco to Rome and return. . Due to Covid the flight was cancelled. I called Norwegian about a credit for the flight and was given the option then of a refund or points in the rewards program that could be redeemed for flights at a later date. As we had every intention of travelling at a later date (post covid) we opted for the rewards points. We converted credits to the rewards points at some point about a year ago. In January of this year Norwegian announced that they would no longer fly "long haul" routes from North America to Europe. since I live in Nevada the rewards credits I converted to were now worthless to me as I don't live in Europe and will never be able to use these credits. I contacted Norwegian and explained the dilema. I was instructed to e-mail customer service at Norwegian and plead my case with them. I never got a response. I went through my credit card company (Capital One) and filed a dispute. They sided with Norwegian (shame on them) and I am now out about $ 1,700. Norwegian Airlines are thieves!!

Crooks. I hope they go bankrupt.

Like everyone else writing reviews on here, these crooks have stolen over $1400 from me when they cancelled our flights from NY-London due to the pandemic.

They now won't answer me over a year later, or offer any form of compensation whatsoever. How is this company still legal?

If you have not used them, DO NOT. I cannot stress this enough. They're scum.

We have always traveled with Norwegian…

We have always traveled with Norwegian Airlines, and always loved in. This year we got a really unfair experience, we got a 1500 kr GiftCard as a present, and due to covid-19 it did NOT expire 31.12.20 (as originally) but thw GoftCard got an extension to Dec 31st. 2021. But when we reached out in order to use it, we were informed it expired 31. Dec 2020, even though we received an mail saying: "Vi ved, at du måske ikke har været i stand til at bruge dine hårdt optjente CashPoints endnu, så vi har automatisk forlænget gyldigheden af alle CashPoints, der udløber i 2020, til den 31. december 2021".
Pretty shocking experience.

Stay far away from these guys

Stay far away from these guys. Usually when you see this many negative reviews theres got to be a silver lining there really isnt. 20th May 2020 Flights booked to Chicago from London, flights got cancelled for obvious reasons. Then tried getting money back was convinced by an assitant to convert to points. Why not? Reputable airline. Boy... As of right now they wont let any members even spend the points and not just that 1 cashpoint was worth 1 norweigen Krona and I was given 237 Cashpoints less then what I should have been given from British pounds to norweigen Krona. Sent an email, phoned cant give it back. I will never ever get the service I paid for and thats just reality. Be wise, the money is gone. Ive just sucked it up they will try everything in there power to not give you back YOUR money. Much like others I have recieved nothing from them the fact that the higher ups arent thrown in jail is simply mind boggling.

Cannot believe this stuff is legal

Like everyone else has said, this company runs like a criminal organisation. The fact that they are still allowed to operate tells you everything you need to know about whose side the government and regulators are on. I had two flights cancelled in July 2020 the day before departure and immediately wanted a refund. I called them and they told me that in order to get the refund, I would first have to convert my points into CashPoints. I challenged this and explained it sounded risky to take them at their word, but figured such a large company regulated in the UK, EU and Norway would not actually lie in that manner – if one customer service representative lied, surely another would come to my rescue and rectify the situation. After more than 20 calls and numerous written complaints (in English and Norwegian) I have accepted that I will never see that money again. As a Norwegian I am ashamed that my government keeps pumping money into this pathetic group that has been disappointing customers for years. If they do survive once again by taking money from defenceless customers and gullible taxpayers in Norway, I hope at least their reputation will bring them down in the end.
