Terrible company
We had our beloved pet insured with Pet-Insurance.co.uk for over 14 years and tried to make 2 claims within that time.
Pet-insurance.co.uk would not support the claims. Even when our best friend passed the death cover which we paid for wasn't covered and we were not paid.
I would not use this company again
after 10 years of insuring with Pet…
after 10 years of insuring with Pet Insurance the last claim i received less than 30% of the actual cost only the 2nd claim on his policy. On having him put to sleep this week due to a spinal injury they said he was not covered as it wasn't an accident .i feel they will find any excuse not to pay a claim. Very poor value for money
Wouldn't pre-approve/deny surgery. Then rejected a post surgery claim
I asked for pre-approval for an investigation for my dog which cost £1500, they contacted me to say they don't do pre-approvals.
So I had to gamble that they would pay out, which of course they didn't.
First class cover for our dogs - exceptional service
Having read some very negative reviews, I felt compelled to give our review. We found this company to be absolutely first class. They have supported two of our dogs with life time cover through illnesses, the first our chocolate Lab with lymphoma which involved expensive verterinary care (alas our boy didn't survive) and latterly our other Lab through athritis/mobility issues over the last two years. All claims have been settled without quibble. Yes, the excess was fairly hefty but the premiums were more than competitive. In all honesty we just couldn't fault them.
Awful
After insuring 4 cats for many years we have made two claims. The first was several years ago, they did eventually pay out but far less than we expected! The most recent one was a blocked bladder that they have refused to pay out on as it “might have been stress and that’s behavioural”. Even though the vet says it wasn’t behavioural. Seem to play with semantics to wriggle out of paying. We are still pursuing the matter but so far we are not impressed!
No complaints here.
We felt compelled to give this company some credit after seeing all the bad reviews.
They paid us out after 4/5 weeks, some clarity was required from our vets and us about what happened. Our cat was 17 and we lost him in a week over Christmas due to cancer, it happened so fast the small fortune that was spent investigating him (vet fee's are now disgusting) became irrelevant. Due to his age getting back 2/3 of the bill we felt was very fair and the company passed on their condolences more than once.
Another Auto-renew Rip Off
Using auto-renew as way of imposing huge premium increases is a disgusting practise feeding off the vulnerable. They tried to put my premium up by 40% (with no claims) in the hope i wouldn’t notice. Why should i have to opt out of auto-renew rather than opting in? Avoid auto-renew companies, they don’t do it for your benefit.
Absolutely pathetic
Absolutely pathetic, one of our dogs is with another provider who pays out within 24 hours. This company, if you are lucky, sends you an email after 3 weeks after receiving the claim to say they will respond within 28 days!! They know they have got you once you sign up for a lifetime cover cos it's hard to go anywhere else once your animal is diagnosed. This company needs investigation!!
Appalling - don’t waste your money
We put 2 claims in for the same illness for our boy. The first was October 2024. The second November 2024.
We’re now mid January 2025 and on the third time of chasing have just been told neither claim has even been assessed yet! Asda Pet Insurance market themselves as having a quick, within 4 weeks turnaround! We’ll be lucky if this is sorted in 4 months, never mind 4 weeks. My poor lad was put to sleep in November 2024, and this dreadful, so called ‘service’ at such a distressing and sad time is a complete disgrace.
I’ve no confidence at all that we’ll ever receive any payment, although we’re definitely entitled to it within the terms of the insurance policy. I so wish I’d read Asda Pet Insurance Trustpilot Reviews before signing up with them - we’d have never used them. How do they get away with this? AVOID AVOID
Dreadful company
Dreadful company, use any excuse to not pay out and when they do only received 40% of the claim.
Worst pet insurance company I have dealt with in 10 years since having my dog
They paid every claim for our black lab…
They paid every claim for our black lab Scooby until his last operation this year. To our surprise they never questioned his age (12y5m) and paid his operation without issues. Sadly he passed away in April as his cancer got back. That was our 4th claim. Thank you Pet-Insurance, you made our worries and pain manageable.
Excellent service
Do not be put off by the below 1 star reviews! I only joined this insurance company in July for my beautiful cat! My cat had an accident in October which we thought was a sprain and turned out to be an issue with his hip and required surgery. I was really worried after reading these reviews when needing to make a claim, but actually the experience received was more than 5 star! The total cost came to just shy of £3500. Not only did they deal with my vets directly so I didn't have to find the cost up front, they paid pretty much the whole claim minus the policy excess and a £25 admin fee within a week of putting in the claim. Couldn't be happier with the whole experience at such a stressful time!
Do not use this rip off company EVER
Paid in for 12 years and only claimed one. Now I’ve tried to make 2 claims recently and they’ve both been rejected because they don’t fit their criteria. It’s too much or too little, or it’s because it’s a leap year!!! Any excuse not to pay. Ridiculous to pay £40 per month and then not be able to claim a penny back when you really need to! Do not use this company, put whatever you can afford in a high interest account so that you have an emergency fund if ever needed!!!
100% renewal after one claim
My dog is twelve years old. In her first eleven years I paid all of the premiums and never claimed once.
Unfortunately she now has cancer, one lot of treatment came to £600.00.
Insurance renewal has gone up by 100%. !!!!
Decide for yourself if this is the company you want to do business with. Not for me anymore.
Only Covered 60% of my claim
Made a claim with them and it was processed quickly, but the amount of deductions applied to my claim was far to high, I am sure that it is the small print.
I made two separate claims, that came to a total of 5.7k, I got back 3.5k after all dedications, the real killer is the excess percentage.
Also this provider does not do direct claims, so you have to pay out first and then claim back.
Do not insure your beloved pets with…
Do not insure your beloved pets with this company.
Claims take so long to be dealt with and then when they are you get silly amounts. For a £300.00 bill I got £80?
Try talking to them and its impossible. Will not be renewing with them in December.
Pet-insurance.co.uk is a scam!
We got this insurance for our 2-year old cat.
He is very adventurous and likes to hunt outside. He got injured due to hunting and had his right front leg bruised and started swelling. We tried to monitor him for a few days if it would settle on its own however,He then got very ill that we couldn’t wait till the next day. We then had to go to an emergency vet hospital.
The fee was about 370 pounds.
We then tried to claim the money back, and the only way is through post (which is a pain). The process took a lot of phone calls to them and vet and vice versa.
After weeks, they finaLly said they’re giving a settlement of 13 pounds in total!
The amount is sickening! 13pounds!??!
Pet-insurance.co.uk is a scam!
Don’t ever get this insurance for your pet.
No cover for conditions that develop gradually
This company is happy to take your money in spades but excludes any condition that evolves slowly. This means that nothing to do with natural ageing will be covered. In the case of my dog, a heart murmur was detected last year but no treatment advised at the time, only monitoring. Now a scan is recommended the company labels it a pre existing condition and will not pay out. She has also had some warts etc, likewise being monitored, so any treatment for warts or lumps of any sort is now excluded. Additionally some years ago we asked the vet to look at her knee as occasionally she limped, again, no treatment recommended. Now all her joints are on the list of exclusions. The only medical issue the company would now cover would be a road traffic accident. Next pet I have I will not insure but will put the money into a savings account. The industry is a massive scam and the security you imagine you are paying for may well be illusory.
Made contact Tesco insurance a farce
Made contact Tesco insurance filled out all details kept advising us our pets did not exist cocker spaniel and a sprocker spaniel this site is a waste off time just a waste of time if they cannot see my dogs exist.
