If I could give 0 I would
If I could give 0 I would, tried to make a claim for my dog that’s very sick and they said they won’t cover it as the illness has happened 2 times . You can’t win with these insurance companies but I’m sure you can find better than these rude selfish people . Trust me you don’t wanna deal with them even a second .
Excess charges on top of excess charges !
Not a good experience , put through a claim and I knew there would be an excess claim charge , but not a percentage excess claim charge on top . make your own minds up . but all the negative ones I would say have some truth . I have now cancelled all my dog policy's I held with them for 12 years . was a very loyal customer
Lousy rotten crooks
Lousy rotten crooks. Renew your insurance then it is impossible to contact them to cancel - they just keep taking your money until you cancel the direct debit at the bank. Absolute nightmare. Don't touch them with a bargepole.
Not worth it
Waste of money with no claims being paid out. Changing conditions of the insurance.
It's a scam
Been with them over 15 years
Surprised to see such poor reviews. I have been with pet-insurance for about 20 years and have always found them incredibly reasonable compared to others offering the same, or worse cover. In all the years, I have claimed twice once for Danny (cross collie/retriever), at the time 7 years old with cancer. They covered £11k of treatment to rebuild his leg. The second time was Lily who had lymphoma and they covered £8k of treatment. Both sadly gone now, but I continue to insure with them, currently my two 5 year old Irish setters which cost me £21 each per 4 weeks per dog for up to £60k worth of cover.
What’s there not to like
Avoid at all cost
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
An absolute con and beware they automatically renew your policy without any consultation.
We had a vets bill of £860 after all their deductions we received only £224. We had a previous claim a year ago and they would only cover £43 of the vets consultation fees despite in very large print on the very top of the policy document claiming they cover up to £4300 of vets consultation fees. When I queried this via a phone call they said did you not read the small print on the Ts&Cs page 5 paragraph 6!!!!! Limited to £43 of any single claim. Make up your own minds but there are far better, and more honest pet insurance companies available.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Had to make a claim for the first time…
Had to make a claim for the first time last month and everything went smoothly, I was very impressed with the speed in which they paid me. Phoned the contact centre too who were very helpful 😀
AVOID John Lewis pet insurance
We have just received JLewis renewal notice and the premium to pay has increased by over 72%. From £409.54 to £706.46 !
And this is for ONE healthy dog, a miniature schnauzer, with no claims whatever since we started health insurance about 7 years ago.
She is just 8 and healthy, a member of our local vet's healthy club, (which we also pay for) in a healthy and safe part of the UK, lives well, inside and inside our large fenced and gated garden, is walked 3x per day, and is even given health supplements, and is very fast and fit. Both of us are home all day and she is looked after very well.
Never again - we have spent perhaps over £3000 on her insurance, with not a penny claimed so we will now open a bank account, with a direct debit and insure our dog ourselves.
It seems that once your dog is 9 or 10 years old premiums increase almost exponentially - and clearly John Lewis is no exception here.
Realise the JLewis group is in a financial mess, but why punish those paying in insurance and getting nothing back. A total rip off - wish I could mark less than ONE star!

This company auto renews automatically…
This company auto renews automatically and they say its upto us to say otherwise! The policy was sent 23rd November (which was unopenable) then the auto took the money 4th January. No correspondence no email of new policy or saying they are going to take money! Pet-insurance. Co.uk go under the name of lots of companies and customer service are very rude and condescending. I would advise Not to use this company
Avoid this pet insurer
I've recently made a claim for vets fees and was shocked and disappointed by the amount of deductions that were taken by pet-insurance.co.uk
Obviously there is an excess to be paid, but they took several other deductions as well, which are stated in the terms and conditions of the policy which I was unaware of, so if you are considering a pet insurance plan I would urge anyone to be aware of the deductions this insurer takes.
For example, my payout was approximately 50% of the vets fees I paid.
I now understand why pet owners don't have insurance and put money aside each month to cover any vets fees.
I've been paying pet-insurance.co.uk for approximately 14 years and this is my first claim.
If I'd put the cost of my premiums aside instead of taking out a policy with them, it would have amounted to a lot of money in my pocket and not theirs.
Furthermore I needed to go to Vets Now the out of hours vet at a consultation cost of £320 of which I got a payout of £60 even though that consultation was part of the same ongoing investigation.
I do not recommend pet-insurance.co.uk
A huge rip off.

I’ve been with this company for years
Premiums go up quite a lot,
you will then get slammed for annual and excess fee.
ITS TERRIBLE that they have put excess fee from 5% to 25% that’s ridiculous. but that’s on certain policies apparently. I’m so angry at them. Playing on ill pets to make them more money!
I can’t leave as my pets have illnesses but I would never go with this company again.
They just want profit profit profit.
Customer service is fine they’ve always been helpful.
But Please avoid this pet insurance and go with a reputable insurance, very expensive mistake for me going with these guys.
It’s disgusting how much they’ve put their prices up!
They say about cost of living and helping us, liars!!
They just take your money.
I did not receive a renewal notice
I did not receive a renewal notice and I was especially looking out for it because I wanted to cancel. The policy renewed automatically which I am really mad about and I did not receive any policy documents so the first I knew was my credit card statement. I have lost £69 by cancelling 27 days after the renewal date. I think insurance companies should not be able to renew policies automatically.
Avoid - reimbursed just £78 out of £600 claim
Policy claims to offer up to £5,000 cover for “Vet fees” but when we needed to make a claim they said: “Please may we refer you to page 16 of your policy documents/Limitations/Paragraph 6: We will contribute up to £45 for the costs of consultation fees for each separate visit to/by the vet as a result of the condition”. Once they deducted fixed excess, percentage of excess and an admin fee they only paid £78 out of a £600 claim.
I’ve been very impressed with this…
I’ve been very impressed with this company. I’ve paid premiums for my 2 cats for 11 years, and this year I had to put in a claim. Everything went smoothly, the people that I spoke to on the phone were really helpful, and it got paid out a lot quicker than I thought it would. As with any insurance, you do need to read the policy wording to make sure it’s suitable, but I’m pretty confident that this company would pay a valid claim.
Absolutely disgusting service
Absolutely disgusting service. They do everything they can to squirm out of paying making even something as simple as filling in a claim impossible. (You have to do it by post!). DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.
Excellent company …
I’ve used this company with my dog who is now 12, he has had problems with his eyes needing care for the last 4 years with 2 operations, I must say this company is excellent always paid the claims and if I have had to ring at any time they are always very friendly. Thank you 😊
Rejected my claim :'(
Awful!! Avoid!!
Awful service. Been with them for years and called to change a direct debit date... did have the facility to do this? Which is ridiculous. I've got to another provider who can actually facilitate a very simple request. The customer service representative on the phone was so unprofessional. Do not go with this company! Pay a little bit more and go for a company which actually good customer service!
Rejecting claims for no reason
I have had this insurance for few years, paying £40 per month. It is first time claim, which Vets4Pets submited on my behalf. My dog had ear infection and to clean it had to be sedated. Vet fees were over £500, I have £200 excess on the policy so wasn't expecting much back. Today got email from them rejecting claim because they decided to put exclusion on my policy. I was fuming when I rang them... They going to call me back tomorrow. I never had this issue with Vets4Pets or Sainsbury's pet insurance. My dog is 10 this year and I only ever made two small claims... I would not recommend.
