I have just completed Mikes 4 week course - A Masterclass In Photography. What a trip. Mike is an excellent teacher and his four week course which includes many instructive videos takes you from camera basics right through to the magic of light and composition and being able to take photographs confidently.
I once heard a friend say that you really don't learn to drive until you get a drivers license. After completing Mike's course I have learnt skills that I to can definitely build on.

Mike Browne's 'A Materclass in Photography' course was filled to the brim with extremely useful explainations, techniques and tips. With his +30 years experience in photography, Mike has an abundance of knowledge as well as an excellent way of presenting his course. As a beginner and lover of all photography, Mike has definitely taught me how to now be "more professional" on my approach with the 3 major controls, how the superpowers can make a huge impact on all photos taken. His step by step guides made it easy to follow. The best part was the AMA's (Asking Me Anthing) once a week. I found it nice to converse and pick his brain on certain things that I did not completley get the concept of when putting it all into practice.

I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting lift their game in the photography world.

The Beginners workshop at Mudeford was an invaluable day out, learning some great tips and observations from Mike. I hope to join future workshops in my area to gain further experience and tips.

You’re never to old to learn.
I’m 75 and taken photographs on and off for many years but never really grasped the nuts and bolts of it shooting mainly on auto or semi-auto,being ignorant of histograms and exposure for example.
Mike goes through it step by step in a very easy to understand way.
I doubt there is a better teacher than him, he is very knowledgeable and an expert in what he does.
A great course I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in photography .

What an amazing course A Masterclass in Photography is! Truly inspirational. If you are a complete DSLR beginner, like I was, and desperate to learn, then look no further. Mike will talk you through the very basics in a way that it's impossible not to understand. His video tutorials are incredibly well structured, hugely entertaining and totally addictive. One of my personal favourites is his demonstration of how aperture and shutter speed work using a glass of milk. Mike has inspired me to look at the world with photographer's eyes, to look for the extraordinary in the ordinary. Thank you so much!

Another Great Outing from Mike Browne - probably the best explainer of Cameras & their functions - which don't take pictures - people do... LOL... but yes Mike, so true. Having sponged off your freebies for quite a while I am ready to now jump in and buy a course. I have no doubt that I will not be disappointed. cheers Paul

The Masterclass is a superbly structured course delivered with enthusiasm, panache and humour. The medium is used in an extremely effective fashion, the bite-sized videos focused and clear and the lessons leading the viewer logically through the procedures for mastering the camera and the considerations for improving the photography. Especially good are the examples, with Mike talking the viewer through his own thought processes, emphasising not only what works but also what does not.
The course has taken me on a marvellous journey of discovery and given me the confidence to use my camera in a more flexible way and to take control of the process.
In summary, this Masterclass removes the mystery from taking good photographs while retaining the magic.

When starting out in photography I discovered Mike Browne’s teaching YouTube videos. Finding these videos very helpful, I bought his 7 Building Blocks of Photography. All these sources of information and teachings have created a foundation upon which I have built and fashioned my photography.
I have no hesitation recommending any of Mike Browne’s courses.

Finaly I managed to be live on a Webinar and it was great. What I've learned and need to practise is keep shooting till you realy like the Image and maybe not just stay with the "good enough" and find out at home there where something you could do better.

Mikes masterclass in photography is brilliant it links all the basic skills and techniques in a structured manner, even those that you knew beforehand. .

Excellent course, so glad I did it. I keep referring back to the notes that came with the course. Took my photography to a whole new level. My confidence has grown so much I am now looking towards doing my licentiate with the Societies of Photographers. Thank you Mike

Excellent online photography course by Mike Browne. I have had a blast completing the course in my own time, usually late at night. Mike is a dream instructor and full of wealth with regard to photography. I can't praise him and his course highly enough.
i have improved my knowledge no end from being a complete novice with not much knowledge at all to someone who isn't scared to take my time and experiment with the camera settings.

Mike is the best teacher I have ever been under. I took the Ultimate Beginners Course and the 7 Building Blocks of Photography last year and have been really using these skills pretty much every day or at a minimum, once a week on the weekend when I go out on a photo shoot. I grew up in the darkroom from Junior High School to my few years in the Navy before being stationed in Japan. Going digital in 2010 while teaching in Beijing, I revitalized my passion for photography but did not have the skills nor the knowledge I needed to create the photos and the stories I wanted to take and tell. Then the pandemic came along and made me think of pursuing my passion even deeper after looking at my photos of Japan and China. That is when I found Mike online and inquired about his classes. I was hooked. I highly recommend Mike as YOUR teacher in photography. He is practical, whity, fun to watch and learn from, but most of all, if you let him, he invests in you and ensures you have the proper knowledge and skills to become a confident photographer. No magic here. Just plain ol' teaching that is worth every penny you spend. It takes work. no doubt, but you will get used to it. I hope to see your photos and the stories you tell as well. A great couple of days spent with Mike in Edinburgh, with the added bonus the weather was in our favour, considering the forecast wasn’t the best.
Mike is obviously very passionate about photography, and this came across whether inside, or when we were out and about photographing in Edinburgh.
Personally I picked up a lot of tips / information over the two days, Mike’s teaching style and I think most would agree, makes it easier to understand, this was carried out by explaining how to use different techniques, then followed up by demonstrations, which we could all practice.
As a keen amateur photographer, Mike also explained take time to think about how you want your image to look. Taking into account the light, camera settings, framing, focal length, composition etc.
A worthwhile workshop, and as Mike said, practice and more practice.

I attended Mike's workshop in Edinburgh last weekend it was really relaxing way to learn and with only nine people Mike had time for all our questions.

I spent a weekend in Mike's company, along with eight others, exploring photographic opportunities in Edinburgh on his Photographic Masterclass. Mike is an excellent teacher, capable of handling a group of mixed abilities without difficulty. He explains things well and follows up with practical demonstrations. After some introductions around the group and initial pointers from Mike, we were thrown outside to do some creative exercises - which were great fun. Feedback was useful, and then we spent the rest of the time out in the streets - landscape opportunities and street photography (new areas for me). The weekend was relaxed and fun, the group was friendly, I learned a lot from Mike and also from the others on the course. I would recommend a workshop like this to anyone who wants to extend their knowledge and gain practical experience. I can also recommend Mike's video courses and I enjoy his "Photography Locked Down" challenges, principally for his coaching in the feedback sessions which are always informative.

I have had an interest in photography for several years now and during that time I have tried a few other online photography courses, most of which I never finished because I found them boring. I can honestly say Mike Browne’s Masterclass in Photography course is without doubt the best photography course I have come across. I never thought I would ever be able to take my camera and set it to manual and get some great photos, yet after just a few weeks I can do exactly that. The course covers everything from getting to know your camera to composition and understanding light - plus lots of stuff in between. I have been messing around with cameras for years but never really understood what I was doing, until now. I now feel I have full control over my camera, and it just makes me want to get out and use it that little bit more. Thank you Mike!

I have been following Mike’s YouTube videos for some time and joined his Photography Locked Down group in spring 2020. Since then I have also completed the 7 building blocks course, which I was fortunate enough to win in one of the PLD challenges.
The best compliment I could give Mike’s coaching skills is that he is the sort of guy I would enjoy just chatting to over a coffee or a pint, in enjoy listening to his opinions and thoughts on photography.
His live PLD feedback sessions on YouTube are part of my routine every other week and his relaxed, fun way of giving a critique of your photography is always constructive. It is such a buzz to get his feedback on any of my photographs.
As result of the above, my skills have advanced to a point where I am now being engaged by other organisations to do their photography shoots and I have been published in a national paper.
There are dozens of professional photographers who put content on YouTube, the edge that Mike has, is that I am always looking out for the next edition.
The 7BB course was a great challenge and forced me to think differently about the elements of my work flow. I look forward to undertaking more of his courses or perhaps joining on of his workshops.
