The 2 night bushcraft course was great. Would highly recommend. The instructor Graham was extremely knowledgeable and spent so much time imparting his knowledge, with loads of practical exercises: shelter building, essential knots, fire building, tree identification, animal tracking etc. the list goes on and on. I feel like I learned so much over the weekend and wasn't bored for a second. When he wasn't teaching us, he spent his time chatting to whoever wanted around the camp fire about other interests or deeper knowledge. His enthusiasm for the outdoors was infectious.
An excellent two days in the woods on the basic bushcraft course! Graham is very knowledgeable and is able to impart that knowledge in an effective and enjoyable manner. Both days followed a logical progression, building on the skills learnt and there was plenty of time to practice those skills and put them to good use. The site is basic but well equipped; composting toilet, soap and water for hand washing, and plenty of tea and coffee available. Joining instructions were clear and the suggested kit list was very helpful. All in all a well organised, well delivered course.
I have a couple of axes and a small woodland in South England, so I decided it was time to find out how to use the tools properly.
Graham is an extremely knowledgeable woodsman - full of information on all aspects of woodland management. I learned to recognise types of tree and their uses, how to season wood, chop sawn logs into kindling (using several different SAFE methods), chop through whole logs of hornbeam (which was a real worktop), cut down a small tree, carve a spoon, light a fire, and a load of other skills I can't immediately recall.
In brief, though this is an axe skills course, Graham is ready to give information and equip you for anything woodsy you happen to be interested in. Definitely recommended for all.

I went to the axe day workshop and it was one of the best things I have done. The instructor was very knowledgeable and I had a great time. Will definitely come back again for the other courses. Highly recommend checking out their courses.

Excellent day in the woods for a one day Axe workshop. A very engaging and knowledgeable leader, and a friendly and enthusiastic bunch of fellow axefolk. Recommended.

Second course with Graham, loved it. His knowledge is immense but makes it fun and accessible through humour, enthusiasm and gentle persistence.
Will be coming back for more courses in the new year.

A group of us recently visited Polaris for the Bushcraft Essentials Day for various reasons...
We found Graham a clearly knowledgeable, experienced no nonsense chap, and everyone felt they learned a great deal throughout the day.
The only downside to the day was that it had to end.
We'll definitely be back sooner rather than later in an attempt to try and learn what we should never have forgotten in the first place.
Who knows how it's going to help us in the near future...

Thoroughly enjoyed the day course with fellow colleagues at the Polaris Bushcraft day with Graham as the instructor. Even though it rained in the morning It didn't detract from the enjoyment of learning the new skills.
Will certainly look forward to doing another course at Polaris in the not too distant future!
Thanks Graham for a great day.

Polaris came to our school and ran two Bushcraft sessions for different age groups. The sessions were well organised and engaging. The boys loved them especially toasting the marshmallows. It was lovely to see their confidence grow over the afternoon. I would not hesitate to use Polaris again.

Just had my first Bushcraft & Survival weekend on 24-26th sep with Graham and the course did really exceed my expectations. Graham is a great teacher, with a wealth of knowledge, very patient and his enthusiasm shows whilst he is teaching the lessons. I was very new to camping and wasn't so confident but after this weekend course my confidence has really grown and I've learned a lot of useful skills. I would highly recommend going on one of these courses.

Fantastic weekend in a private wood, we learned so much from Graham our Instructor, in just two days we learned about the numerous natural resources around you in the woods, how to build a shelter from scratch , how to make fire, filter water, tree & plant identification , making twine , food sources , camp cooking pot , rod and holder from a tree branch , cooking methods , we even made salmon pasties cooked straight in the fire embers which were delicious!!!
I attended it with my husband , and as a slightly older female I was a little bit unsure how I would cope , but although it was physically challenging and tough at times this was balanced with a number of mental and finer skill challenges , making twine, carving , etc.. would thoroughly recommend the weekend to singles , couples groups , male or female , great way to test just what your capable of without all the creature comforts and mod cons we have become accustomed to.Go for it !!!

Absolutely loved the Bushcraft Essentials Day Workshop, we had so much fun, and we learnt and practiced way more than what I expected from a day workshop (we built a shelter with natural materials, learnt about various knots for setting up hammocks and tarps over them, practiced using a knife for cutting wood, made fire, and learnt about purifying water). Can't wait to do a weekend one and other courses! Thanks a lot! Monica

Well organised, good communication, experienced teacher, good price. Graham knows his bushcraft and is experienced at teaching it appropriately. Lots of good story sharing and helpful hints. The axe workshop really helped me improve my skills and reminded me of safety issues. I recommend his courses.

Hi Graham,
Thank you - We had an absolutely fantastic few days with you and I can't remember the last time I was laughing so hard whilst learning so much. Seeing one of my mates get his hammock wrong with the inevitable consequences was a joy to watch and I swear I almost broke a rib as he was rolling on the floor.
From arrival to departure, from building bivvies to looking for water, learning about animal tracks, using spears and bows (incidentally, we will never, ever be able to hunt for food!), making fire and making nettle string, it was all a fantastic experience.
I am certain that all of us were on the edge of our comfort zone - some much closer to the edge than others - but it was great to have you guiding and teaching us along the way.
We will definitely be back.
From families to Corporate Groups, to Hen and Stag Parties - If anyone is considering attending Grahams course, do it - you will not regret it.
Simon

This was our second visit. Just as much fun as our first time. Graham makes the experience, his knowledge and passion shine through along with his beautiful camp.
What also adds to the experience is meeting other families - the kids all group together and enjoy sharing the camp experience, the hammocks were a massive hit with the kids….along with drinking pond water and eating stinging nettles….plus the Cotten wool buds!!!

We had a great weekend on the family bushcraft skills weekend. The activities were well suited for our 9 year old kids: all achievable but a bit of a challenge for them. Graham is a reasonable guy to deal with and a very good instructor.
