Deceiving colour, crappy delivery

The colour of the bed frame didn’t resemble the one displayed on the website, not even close. It was supposed to be Mallor Green, but the one we received was clearly Teal. The company didn’t admit to this, but suggested that the shade can differ from screen to screen. Maybe, not to this extent thought! I checked from two different laptops and two phones and the colour always looked like Mallor Green (as described)… Not Teal (almost Mint Green) as the bed frame we received.

Also, we were promised delivery with assembling but that didn’t happen. The bed frame (super king mind you, so very big) was dropped off by the door so I had to carry it upstairs myself. I queried this with the delivery company directly and was told that they don’t offer assembling nor delivery to a specific room… Yet Portabello clearly stated that they would on their website, strange huh? I’ll let you draw your on conclusion re that one.

To Porotbello’s credit, they arranged for two guys to come over the next day to assemble the bed frame, it’s just unfortunate that those two guys left our bedroom with significant damage to the wall without saying anything.

Portobello eventually covered the cost for paint, material etc so I could fix it.

All in all, the bed is alright, once you get used to the Teal colour. I was a bit worried about the material whereupon the mattress rests, but it has held up so far (been around 6 months.

When your bed was delivered around February time, some of our delivery partners were unfortunately refusing to enter homes due to COVID-19. We have however since resolved this and can guarantee room of choice delivery.

We do spend quite a lot of time working with the photo studio that we use to ensure the images are a close to likeness as possible. This generally involves carefully comparing the swatches with the image on screen. This is a professionally calibrated screen though - so there normally is going to be a difference for normal people using normal screen.This is why we do encourage you to order fabric samples (we offer these free of charge).

We love the bed we purchased

We love the bed we purchased, however the headboard was not as tall as the published measurement so it has to be remade. Also, they don’t publish the depth of the bed support to footboard height, if you have a deep mattress, it may be deeper than the footboard. For extra cost, we are having an extra deep footboard made and then it will be perfect!

Horrendous experience and customer service non existent

The first delivery was the wrong bed and damaged. The second delivery a leg was broken, days went by and no leg, finally arrived but wrong leg, then another delivery but another wrong leg. So changed bed style and was given a date but when I followed it up I was told the following week. No bed no correspondence in fact I was ignored. Then told the bed had been picked up by the courier company so I should have it that week,so I gave Portabello my new telephone number to give to the delivery company. However there was no delivery, once again my emails were ignored. So I called but told I would be called back. I received an email instead saying that the delivery was out of their hands so I could have a refund?? I agreed because it was beyond ridiculous but then I received an email from the logistics company saying they were delivering the bed- happy days. Come delivery day, again no bed. This time I contacted the delivery company directly to find out where my bed was. Apparently they left a voicemail on my phone to confirm delivery, but guess what, they hadn't been given my new number by Portabello so I didn't confirm it so the delivery was cancelled. I now have been contacted by the delivery company to confirm the delivery. I can now track the bed which shows that the consignment didn't reach the warehouse for a full 11 days after Portabello told me it had been picked up.
I will not hold my breath as I have been waiting an extra 10 weeks since the delivery was due. As you can imagine, I will not be referring anyone to Portabello, in fact the opposite. I have lived all over the country and Internationally and they are one of the worst companies I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, they really don't seem to care whether you buy their products or not. My advice is to buy your furniture from anywhere else but them.

Some good points but also some that could be better!

A little disappointed with the service from this company. Ordering the bed was easy and the communication at the beginning was good. We were notified when they had released the goods to the delivery company but had to contact them after waiting a few weeks before delivery was put in place. Not sure who is responsible but both companies will probably blame each other! The goods arrived when stated but the base was not as we were told it would be and there was a little damage to it. Also the quality of finish to some parts was disappointing. Saying that we were happy with the rest of the bed and when put up no one can see the flaws, but we know they are there! We contacted the company to raise our concerns. They contacted us the following week and we were told they would send pictures of the base they could send us to replace what had been sent - we are still waiting for this! We get the feeling it’s easy to dismiss complaints when you are internet based and hundreds of miles from your customer. We doubt we will ever hear from them again. :((

Appalling customer service. Still do not have my sofa or a refund. Loop holes around ;custom made' which is not the case where there are three options and you chose one.

Unfortunately in your case, the piece of furniture that you ordered does not fit into your property. We can only provide accurate measurements on our end - we then need you to ensure that the item will fit before you place an order. Our team are always happy to help you if you have any questions about the furniture fitting in.

Due to the size of sofas and the costs associated with delivery (which we provide free of charge), it is simply not possible for us to accept return items en masse like Bohoo.

long time coming

it took a long time to get any communication from them, had to send repeat emails but once i did get a response and the bed was made, there were several exchange emails from the delivery company. there was a 2-3 wk delay in getting the bed delivered. delivery men were excellent, put together the bed in the bedroom for me and made sure i was happy with it before they left. We love the bed but the time it took to get it made and delivered was too long i feel. The lack of communication made me feel very nervous as i had been scammed with another product at the same time and was beginning to wonder if i’d been scammed again, but no, it was all ok in the end.

We ordered and paid for our furniture…

We ordered and paid for our furniture several weeks ago but have not received it or been notified of a delivery date.
Wishing I had not paid up front! Be warned!. I have to constantly email them, they are not proactive with communication.
I've yet to see the quality of the furniture.

Sixty and sitting on the floor.

I ordered a 4 seater leather sofa, delivery date was before the 2nd of June 2021
If this was my business,I'd be very worried, customer service is extremely poor, they don't seem to want to answer phones, or contact you back, the best way to get a response is EMAIL, i was told it be in on the Wednesday, 3 weeks later,I had to chase them again, I've given them until the 1st of July, and they have said if it's not in by the 30th of June they will refund me my money.
I find it very hard to believe that in this current climate, that this company has no interest in this business, or there customers, would I recommend them no sorry, if this is how they run a business then they will not survive, reading the reviews it seems they never listen or learn by their mistakes.thank you for your quick reply, if only you could use this energy and speed in answering your phones or keeping your customers up dated, and please don't give customers deliver by dates, then fall short, this is your responsible.

Please bear in mind that all of our products are hand-made to order using traditional techniques and high quality bull's leather, which we import on an order by order basis from a tannery in Italy.

Although this way of working does deliver an exceptional product, it allows us absolutely no economies of scale and does leave us vulnerable to subtle changes in the supply chain. This means that sometimes delay's do happen, and we would always choose to delay an order than delivery something which falls short of our standards.

We believe that we will have your order ready by the mutually agreed delivery date, but if for any reason we are not confident in it's quality — we will as agreed refund you in full.

My order was due to arrive within 6…

My order was due to arrive within 6 weeks, I am now 12 weeks out and the order has not arrived.

I have called Portabello on numerous occasions and am always promised a call back which does not happen.

I have managed to communicate via email, unfortunately I have been constantly lied to and given false promises, I am told the order will arrive next week and it never does.

I do not feel a valued customer and will not use or recommend this company.

I just hope I am a one off and not all customers have the same level of disservice i have received.

Sadly this is the first negative review I have ever given a company and I do try to look on the positive side, but when you feel that you are continually lied to you lose faith.
