Practice Portuguese is BRILLIANT! I am a teacher of English as a foreign language and I know how important clear explanations are and how vital it is to practise and review as much as possible. I have been looking for a course in European Portuguese for ages and although there are some good ones out there, this site gives me what I want.

Really enjoying the experience, have had private lessons in the past but have found that the explanations on Practice Portuguese have made language points much more understandable to an English speaker

I've used Practice Portuguese off and on for a year or two. I started out just on the free videos but soon signed up for the paid content and it is very useful on my journey of becoming fluent. More importantly, when I needed to take a break for a few months, I easily stopped the subscription. When I was ready to continue, I restarted and all of my previous learning efforts remained.

Great resource for learning! Applicable to real life

A complete and thorough program for learning European Portuguese. It employs different styles of learning: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. The Units are practical for any ex-pat who could use help relocating in Portugal.

I've been half Portuguese but living in Belgium for all my life. Every year I visit Portugal but sadly enough I've not been raised with the language. So 5 years ago I started the mission to learn Portuguese on my own.
After trying out a bunch of tools and applications I've found Practice Portuguese by far the best of all. It's focused only on European Portuguese which is very hard to find with all the Brazilian Portuguese learning tools dominating the internet.
The site is user friendly, the creators are active by adding new things and replying to problems or comments and it feels like your part of a learning community.
All in all I would highly recommend this site to anyone learning Portuguese, even if your more skilled I promise this site will still be able to learn you a bit more.

Great site with lots of different modalities for learning the language. As a teacher (and in this case a student) that being able to differentiate instruction and lessons to how one learns best is crucial.

Through Practice Portuguese I have gained a lot of understanding of, and useful vocabulary in European Portuguese. I am really appreciating the shorties right now for practicing listening comprehension and learning vocabulary in context. Additionally, the team is really quick to respond to any questions or comments, and they are always expanding and improving - which means there is something for everyone!

Really enjoying the leasons so far. Tried free apps but they all use Brazilian Portuguese and I need European.

PracticePortuguese is a website and a mobile phone app for learning European Portuguese. Everything on the website is available on the App, it is synched with your login so you can resume from where you left off on the go or at home.

The site covers Portuguese from Levels A1 through B2. First there are Units, organized chapters covering topics such as grammar (AR verbs in Preterite Tense for example), vocabulary, pronouns, adverbs, tenses. These are sometimes organized around topics such as Food, clothing, family, holidays etc. Each Unit has one or more lessons, followed by practice, and finally ended with a dialog, which you can listen to with subtitles or not, and with translation or not, to reinforce the vocabulary and grammar of the lesson.

These "shorties" are usually interesting or funny. Nothing is boring about Practice Portuguese, they are a fun group.

In the practice exercises, you might have to listen to a native speaker and type the phrase or word spoken. Sometimes there is a bunch of words in boxes, and you click and drag them into the right order, then there is fill in the blank. There are other exercises. Most of the time phrases are read by Rui, who speaks very clearly. Even when the native speakers read the phrase, there is usually a Rui button so you can hear how he says it. It is helpful to have both.

I never run out of material with Practice Portuguese. If I am not ready for something new, there is the Smart Review system where I can use flashcards to reinforce what I have already learned.

In the app you can download "shorties" to listen to on the go. There is a verb conjugation part of the app and website to practice verb tenses. They just added a new audio only flashcard system which you can take with you to listen to flash cards on the bus or while walking.

It is as comprehensive as any place I have found to learn European Portuguese. The staff make it fun too. It is worth the subscription price, I have used it for 7 months. Although I have other resources that I use, Reading, podcasts, TV and classes, This resource is something I use almost daily to practice my Portuguese.
