Overall, excellent experiences with Rab. However, not certain what the “sales and use tax” is, which essentially doubles the usual sales tax. Never saw this coming.

After ripping my jacket on barbed wire, I received my repaired Rab jacket today. It looks as good as new. Extremely happy with the service and quality of the repair.

Purchased a brand new Alpine Microlight down jacket at Christmas and over the last few months the stichting is slowly coming apart and feathers on all clothing, retailer said its been 1 month+ so they cant take it back and to contacy Rab as its a manufacturing defect.

Contacted Rab customer support sent pictures and advised such leakage is normal initially, despite having told them iv worn it for a few months and having owned 4 Rab down jackets i know this level of feathers coming out after 3 months is not normal!!

Wouldnt recommend any more Rab jackets. For £100+ there are many better quality jacksys

Sent a jacket to Rab for a repair

Sent a jacket to Rab for a repair. It was returned with a poor finish (undone seams, uncut fabric strands).

After complaining and providing photos to them they offered to take it back and fix it. I didn't want to be out of a jacket for weeks again so I requested a refund for the repair which they agreed to.

Weeks later I noticed I haven't received the refund so I enquired this.

They responded to say their system doesn't allow them to refund given the time between the repair and complaint and I should send the jacket back.

Yes in this day and age they're trying their luck with "the computer says no". A refund can always be processed. It might take a bit more effort sure.

They then went onto do a U-turn and say they can't determine the issues fully from the photos.

To summarise:
- Rab didn't repair the clothing adequately
- Received photo evidence and confirmed there's an issue with their work
- Agreed to refund the cost for repair and confirm the monies will be with me in a few days
- Weeks later after chasing them they rescind their offer to refund and want the jacket back

Poor quality and support

I spent around £350 on a Valiance jacket from Rab. It was quite a good warm jacket but within two years it had lost all warmth in the shoulders. It also had a slight rip around 1/2" long in the back. I had taped the rip up so I knew there had been no escape of down.

I sent it back to them expecting them to clean, fluff, and "service" it as advertised.

Unfortunately, they sent me an email telling me it was "irrepairable" due to internal damage! They said" several of the baffles on the rear of the item are no longer bonded". I was astonished and asked if this was normal in a jacket that had seen only a couple of seasons use. They tried to explain this by claiming it must have had heat damage, stating: " it may be that it has been exposed to heat at some point here which has deboned the glue. This can occur on this construction if the jacket is exposed to prolonged excessive heat, for example, being tumble dried on too higher heat. " There is no way this could have been the case. I took really good care of that jacket and the only thing I did wrong was to catch it on a rosebush hence the small rip.

They gave me a "goodwill" 25% discount voucher for my next purchase from their website. As this was only from their site and their jackets can be discounted in other stores it's not really anything at all. There won't be another Rab purchase by me.

I was really disappointed in this brand as it was extremely poor value for money so I would recommend you avoid.

€220 jacket lasted 2 weeks

I bought the RAB Women's Xenair Alpine Light Insulated Jacket which is €220 in the end of January 2024 for a skiing vacation after having been recommended RAB from one of my good (arctic) outdoor friends.

After having used it 10 days on ski and 4 days commuting at home all the letters in the logo inside the jacket have fallen off and the letters in the logo on the outside of the jacket have started to become loose just as there has come a tear in the jacket around the hem on the outside of the jacket.

I wrote to the RAB support team to get some help but was told that I could send the jacket in and pay for it myself for it to be repaired.
I am super disappointed of the quality of the €220 jacket - I had honestly expected it to last more than 2 (!!!) weeks of use underneath a shell jacket - and the costumer service at RAB. It is for sure both the first and last time I will buy from this brand.

I really do not recommend buying RAB equipment unless you want to spend money on expensive gear that do not last more than 2 weeks!!
RAB proclaims to be "top of the market", but if that is true I really do not want to buy equipment from anyone at the bottom..

I am so very disgusted with this…

I am so very disgusted with this company. I sent a repair off in January and was contacted a few days ago (March!) asking if I was happy with the colour of the material - it was a totally different colour. Apparently they don’t keep older colours - I bought my gilet two years ago. I don’t class that as old. I have quite a few Rab items but I will never buy them again due to the lack of support. They didn’t care that I’d bought their product for £80 and couldn’t get it repaired. I will be taking this further. Shame on you Rab

Hello Wendi,

Unfortunately as we no longer make the Altus Vest, the material is no longer produced and therefore we are not able to offer the same fabric and hence offering the closest alternative. As you deemed this unsuitable, we have refunded the repair and returned the items as requested.

Kind regards,
Rab Customer Support

Don’t buy Rab anymore :(

I have quite a few bits of Rab clothing and just bought a second Superflux hoodie (grid fleece technical top) - old one had a hole in it which is to be expected after several years.

The new one same name and part number has been changed to a brushed fleece. I asked Rab who said they constantly “improve” products. This is a major change from a technical top
which regulates warmth to a cheaper warmer top.

Rab is putting prices up and quality and features down whilst calling it the same thing.

I will be buying other brands from now on.

Just OK…

Just OK…
Messaged RAB about non delivery.A guy called I am not allowed to say his name)... replied ..."ye, technical issue". There is never ever ever a technical issue taking the money. So thats ok then. When will so called customer service departments (which seems to be only one person) begin to learn that we are their bread and butter. Is this company going the same way as Rohan??

Incidentally it is prohibited to name members of staff. Amazingly if you check the positive reviews, lo and behold they are littered with the christian names of those who are in favour. It is beginning to appear that Rab are vetting unhelpful complaints and concocting reasons to stop them being published.

I think Rab are on a slippery slope here.

Brilliant repair service

An accidental tear in my Rab down jacket needed repair. I contacted the service centre and within a fortnight I had my jacket back, expertly patched, at a cost of £23 (including postage and return). Good value, good service and environmentally beneficial.
The jacket will be good for many more years!

Expensive mistake

Rab cindr come apart at the seams. Shop refused to do anything other than send it back even though it was 12 weeks old and cost£240. Contacted RAB who said because they are saving the planet they repair stuff to save resources. Send it to them who ended up replacing it. They are so concerned about the environment it came in a plastic bag, you know the plastic bags are are destroying the earth. Poor quality terrible customer service and they threw on a condescending patronising attitude just to complete the package.

Hello Ian,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Unfortunately, we cannot comment on your experience with the shop as we do not know the details of your interaction with them. However, I'm sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with this.

As a brand, we always look to repair rather than replace where possible. This allows us to reduce the environmental impact of our business practices and minimise unnecessary waste. Upon receipt of your item, and because it was so new, we arranged a replacement for you as a goodwill gesture. We opted for a replacement rather than repair on this occasion due to the turnaround time of our repair service and the age of the item, even though no proof of purchase was provided. Your returned Cinder piece has now been serviced, repaired, and will have a second life through our outlet store. If you're interested in a tour of our Service Centre so you can see what we're all about, we'd be happy to arrange this. Just hit reply to the previous correspondence you have had with us via email.

We are sorry to hear the replacement arrived in plastic packaging; this will have been a warehouse error, as all plastic packaging should be removed from customer orders before dispatch as part of our commitment to the EOG single-use plastics project. They are then packed in triple-laminated paper packaging that can be recycled.

We're sorry that you had a negative experience with us; however, we hope you enjoy your new Cinder jacket.

Kind regards,
Rab Customer Support

Appalling customer service

I bought a Rab down jacket about 3 years ago and the zip stopped working properly after 2 years. I sent the jacket in and they replaced the zip slider. 11 months later the new zip slider fell off. I contacted Rab customer service who told me to send in an email with pictures. I then had no response for almost a week despite a call and 3 chasing emails. Eventually I got an email saying I need to pay for a new zip despite the fact they replaced the zip slider which fell off.

Very disappointed - poor service and not standing behind d their repairs. I will buy a North Face jacket instead

Hello Colin,

Thak you for taking the time to leave a review, we're sorry to hear of your disapointment, and for the 4 working days it took to receive a response to your email.

Unfortunately, it was the zip box itself that had been damaged rather than the zip slider which we had fitted previously. This is a different component and therefore a chargeable full zip replacement would be required to resolve the issue.

Don't buy Rab Deep Cover Parker

I bought a Rab deep cover Parker from Go Outdoors. Although aware it was not waterproof, this is not even drizzle proof. I contacted Rab to inform them it had little or no water repellency. I was told by Rab it was not waterproof and that was the end of the matter. For a company that sells mountain ware and products for extreme weather, I found this very disappointing. I will not buy another Rab product.

Hello Kate,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we're sorry to hear of your disappointment.

As you have noted, the Deep Cover Parka is not a waterproof item and therefore you will find water ingress if out in the rain/drizzle. This will occur through the stitching initially and then the face fabric. We also have an article on our FAQ page to try and communicate this to customers.

https://support-uk.rab.equipment/hc/en-us/articles/360000560017-Is-my-Deep-Cover-Parka-waterproof

The parka does feature a DWR treatment to reduce this however it will wear off with use. Tumble drying on a low setting for around 20 minutes (remove the hood fur before doing so) can help to replenish this treatment.

As it is not a product fault, and the jacket is performing as intended, this is not something we can resolve for you.

Kind regards,
Rab Customer Support

I bought a lovely puffer type coat with real down filler. Unfortunately I tripped and somehow put a small hole in the sleeve. I used Rab repair service which cost me only £23, coat was about £160. Sent it away and when it came back I thought I'd got a brand new coat.
Terrific service. I think they put a new sleeve on as there's no sign of a repair and they must have laundered it too.
Brilliant service.

Top customer service!

Contacted Rab because the steel ring strengthener on the entry point for the drawstring on my nine year old Rab sleeping bag had pulled loose which would mean down leakage if not fixed quickly. Expecting to be told it was well out of warranty and the repair charge would be a significant e.g. approx. half the cost of a new sleeping bag, I was told instead that the issue would be treated as a warranty issue with no charge - except for initial postage. I returned the bag and the repair was a top job while the turnaround was pretty quick too. Top customer service!
