Good service

RAC did the service on my driveway which was very convenient. The engineer was knowledgeable. The only downside was they didnt update my car system to say that the service had been completed so my car still shows that service is due.

Battery replacement and fitting.

Purchased my choice of battery, booked fitting and all went well. Turned up on time, had to take some bits off to access the battery, swapped them air and replaced bits taken off. All good.

Absolutely awful experience

Absolutely awful experience. Sold wrong battery after entering reg and then charged more on site. Having to sort the refund myself, only to be offered a part refund as a result of RAC’s incompetence. Use another provider as RAC shop is awful.

Our car wouldn’t start and we had an urgent need to get it fixed.

Went on website to book a battery replacement service. After entering my reg chose a battery from the ones that were available and ‘compatible’ and booked in the service for around £250.

Called by patrol a few hours later to let me know they were on there way only to be told that the battery was incompatible and as a result I’ll need to pay more for a compatible battery (he couldn’t refund me for the original) alone once he arrived. At which point we’d waited for the service for around 4 hours so needed it sorted asap - felt I had no choice but to purchase and resolve later. Once he arrived I was told it would be a further £255. Now £505 out of pocket.

Contacted RAC after it had been installed to sort a refund and get some of my money back. only to be told that they couldn’t do anything and to contact another email. After emailing and explaining the experience they refunded me £202, leaving me to pay the original call out charge of £45. So I booked a service for £245, what I actually ended up paying was £302.99 as a result of RAC failures.

Had this cost been apparent when I was booking the service I would have definitely gone with another, cheaper provider.

I feel completely taken advantage of. I’ve contacted 3 different departments so far to get this resolved.

In response to the below –I will but I contacted that email initially - and was told they couldn't do anything. I've since been directed to 2 other emails and now back to this one.

Good service but poor online shop experience

I purchased a replacement battery from the RAC online shop. This was the "recommended" battery for my car, based on the Reg No. When the patrolman arrived, it transpired that the battery was not correct. Luckily, I was then at home and could charge my failing battery overnight. A different patrolman attended my car when I was at work the next day and fitted the correct battery (I paid the difference in price). Both patrolmen were fantastic, but the online shop needs some serious attention or people more vulnerable than me will be left stranded!

I paid £259, THEY cancelled. No refund

I paid £259 for a service that the RAC shop cancelled. 21 days later after 2 official complaints, an online chat, an email to customer services and query form filled out, I STILL have not received a refund for the order THEY cancelled.

Ordering process easy and straightforward. Found and ordered battery i needed and paid for at home fitting. Technician arrived on time, was friendly and knowledgeable and finished the job quickly and efficiently. Registered battery to car via software so all ready to go. Battery price competitive with fitting included. Many thanks RAC.

Ok but wouldn’t use again

Arrived promptly in couple days.
Only thing that caused me drop one star is that I wrongly assumed that it was coming from a RAC warehouse staffed by RAC employees, ordered two items both came from independent retailers.
Was happy with overall price but doubt I would order through RAC website again.
Just makes life harder if I ever need to return due to item failure.

The most appalling online purchasing experience

The most appalling online purchasing experience fe I have ever had.
They take the money and when fail to deliver tell me to chase the department they have subcontracted to and say it is not their problem.
I paid RAC Shop but they say it is someone else’s responsibility to refund. I can’t believe it, but have emails to prove it.

Never turned up at time or date booked for. No communication then when did arrive had no battery to fit but still took my money waiting for refund and have raised a claim with paypal as not getting anywhere with the rac also will not be renewing my membership as this has put me off the company.
