Buyer beware!
As an edit to this review. I’ve seen it now mentioned that the breeding dogs only have 2 litters and are retired. A claim made on their website and now repeated by ‘loyal’ customers. I know my dogs mum Whispa had a litter 2017, 2018 and 2019 so this assertion is incorrect. Raffles state the breeding dogs go to their forever home after 2 litters yet no one has ever come forward to say they own one of these dogs. With raffles
having produced at least 1000 litters that’s 500 breeding mums yet no one seems to own these dogs. Begs the question really where are they? Happy for raffles to respond to this question. Raffles have also publicly admitted using ‘breeding partners’ so which one is it? The mums go to a forever home or back to a ‘breeding partner’ to procure even more litters under a different breeders name!
For those that don’t believe that the negative reviews are genuine please do your own research before you buy. Ask raffles why they were downgraded to 1* by the council. They used to shout about their * rating. Don’t see that mentioned now they are a measly 1 star. Also ask them about ‘breeding partners’, how many litters they have each year, ask them exactly where are the pups born?, ask them why their vet recently parted ways with them?. Raffles are doing all they can to overcome the recent negative publicity to maintain their revenue. They are challenging everyone who has posted here to provide buyer details - which many have already proving they are genuine customers with genuine issues. Raffles knows full well they are genuine. So much for the lifetime support they allegedly offer! Sure some people will have had a great experience with no issues. I expect out of the 2000 pups they sold in 2019 a large proportion are fine. But would you want to be in the other % that brings home a very sick pup. And even the healthy ones, what about their Mum? What conditions are they kept in when they are shipped back to the ‘breeding partner’. It’s all very sad situation for all the owners with poorly pups and the poor dogs.
Bought a pup from raffles. She was petrified, matted, dirty ears, full of worms (10cm long), Lethargic, bloody stools for weeks. Took her to vets and told she was very underweight and had signs of infection. I have emails with raffles to prove this. With much love and affection she is still a nervous but loving dog. I thought my experience was a one off but since I have seen that it certainly isn’t. They do produce some lovely dogs but there are also a lot of sick pups as well.
The owners of sick pups can’t leave any negative reviews on their Facebook site as they delete them, therefore any new buyer gets a one sided view. I was fooled by their marketing and once at the property I selfishly didn’t walk away when I knew that all wasn’t as it should be. Whilst I’m glad I have my dog, I’m also sad that I have encouraged by buying my pup this sort of mass puppy breeding operation (over 215 litters in one year that’s nearly 2000 pups in 1 year all allegedly reared in the ‘home’), with only a few stud dogs that father hundreds of pups a year. Raffles have also admitted using ‘breeding partners’ this means they transport pregnant dogs onto the premises to give birth.. then ship them back out! To where who knows, as raffles do not release this info. There is nothing exclusive about raffles, you are buying a dog that has the same dad as 1000’s of pups) I would like to hear from the raffles owner, what their response is to the issues that have been raised by many of the current owners and what measures they are now putting in place to improve. Specifically I would like to know what happened to the 215 + mums. Note that raffles are a multi million pound operation, they will have many supporters who also gain income from their business, many will support raffles through thick and thin, regardless of animal welfare, the truth and evidence to the contrary. All that glitters Is not gold, and you will only see what they want you to see. Until you bring home a sick pup and realise the truth! Note that there are now reviews trying to claim the negative ones are fake and all by the same person. I wish that were true.
Mite infested pup
I bought a pup from Raffles collecting our little Autumn on 02/11/18.
The collection experience was strange, didn't get to see her with her litter mates, not interact with her mum who was carried in presented rather like a waiter presenting a wine and swiftly taken away. My partner instantly fell in love with her and I suppose in my eagerness to please her I overlooked the warning signs that were clearly present. I paid the remaining balance and we left with our pup.
On getting her home her bowels were loose this didn't overly concern me as I know that can happen taking pups away from their home environment, litter mates and so on. However what was odd that her ears really seemed to bother her constant scratching at her ears and a strong smell coming from them. Again a spaniel breed ear problems are common, took her to a vet who suggested cleaning ears thoroughly and gave ear drops and some pills for ear mites (again common in spaniel breeds).
Fast forward a couple of weeks no improvement in the ears in fact much worse took her back to the vet who gave medicated shampoo, ear drops and another round of pills for ear mites. Didn't work so went to a different vet who took a skin scrape, she was infested with mites, the vet examined the mites under microscope gave a clear definition of them and stated in no uncertain terms that she had been passed them from her mother as the type of mite could only be passed from mother to pup.
Course of treatment and the dog is all better thankfully, I let Raffles know immediately how disappointed I was that a breeder was selling pups infested with mites, got an initial response asking for vet details and then I never got another reply and if ignored after that.
Would not recommend and would not use again.
Very Sick Puppy
I collected my puppy in June 2019.
When we picked my puppy up, her feet were covered in poo and straw/sawdust. She was shaking and we put this down to nerves. There were at least 4 families collecting puppies from different litters at the same time. Puppy’s were brought out and not seen with mother and the rest of the litter.
When we got home she was quite hesitant and lethargic. She didn’t eat a thing. Within hours she was vomiting and had severe diarrhoea. We took her to the emergency vets in the early hours of Saturday as she had vomited 4/5 times. The vet administered an anti-sickness injection and prescribed a probiotic for us to continue with at home. As the vomiting and watery/bloody diarrhoea continued, on Sunday evening we took her back to the vet who decided that she needed to be admitted to receive IV fluids as she was clinically dehydrated, whilst they investigated via a series of blood/fecal tests and x-rays.
The vets informed me that the results of her fecal samples showed unusually high levels of Coccidia and Campylobacter. My pup was prescribed a 10-day course of an antibiotic and we were advised to take extra care when handling her as Campylobacter can cause severe food poisoning amongst humans.
The vet advised that symptoms take several days to emerge following consumption of contaminated faeces from other puppies which can be the result of unsanitary living conditions.
We were lucky that we got her to the vets or she may not have survived! The bill totalled several thousand pounds and she has had ongoing stomach issues ever since.
We informed Raffles immediately. They paid the excess and sent a box of toys. At first they said no other puppies in the litter were ill, but later said one other had been brought back to Raffles as they had diarrhoea. Would not return.
Be warned!
My girl came home in April 2019 she's a red cavapoo. I went to Cheshire to view two pups who were described as dark apricot. When the parents were carried in I was shown a cocker mum. Anyways. I put pup on the floor was told not to do that. Weird. I commented that mum had sad eyes was told "that's a spaniel thing" anyway got back to London and realised I was shown wrong litter (recovering from chemo= chemo brain) emailed Alison. Alison said there were other pups but didn't know what colour they were?? OK. They just happened to be red. Got to pick my girl. When we collected she was handed to me at the door. Mark gave a great speech to the whole room (5 families collecting??) about blood in the poo. Given a blanket not scented by mum as stated on the website, met the "parents" again carried in. Upon leaving he went to the back room and got two handfuls of pups and filled up the puppy pens for collection. My girl then had bloody diarrhoea on the way home and on and off for the first week. We took her to the vets next working day for a vet check anyway. They kept an eye and wanted to do tests but I asked them to treat her first as the treatment was the same regardless of diagnosis. Email Raffles nothing. During her second week (well just after her first) she got her paw stuck in her pen took her to the vets and we notice at some point she had also had a rectal prolapse. She had to have surgery. Emailed raffles. Replied straight away very "supportive" . Offered (I did not ask) to pay her insurance excess for both her paw and her surgery. He sent her a box of toys the next day. Told me no pup had left ill. None of her litter mates were ill- how he knew this I don't know because he clearly didn't have any time to contact them and ask. I've since found two siblings, neither of them were contacted, they didn't know she was ill, or that her prolapse could have been n caused by something hereditary, her litter mates were never contacted. I was contacted by others with giardia, parvo, mites, kennel cough, pneumonia. I went to Raffles they gave me excuses about how anyone speaking out is "jealous" a "keyboard warrior" or "animal activist". I wrote my girls story in a few groups to warn others this was screenshotted and sent to Raffles they then denied I was a customer and that my girl came from there. When I challenged this I was blocked from commenting on their page. Since found out there was over 250 litters in 2019 alone and that more dogs have left sick, some have died and owners have been intimidated.
Too many breeding dogs producing…
Too many breeding dogs producing pups back to back. Pups are unsocialised, clearly are not Reared in the family home as stated on the website. This place is a puppy farm. Please do not buy from them.
Manipulative greeders
The information about this breeder is now out there for all to see. If you search on social media you will be able to see honest reviews. Raffles have disabled the review section on their fb business page. This is so they can control only posting the positive reviews. If you comment on their page any questions they will delete your comments and block you from commenting again - try it and see. What kind of business ignores their negative feedback. If they were an honest breeder they would face these issues head on.
They are licenced for 48 dogs but have had over 250 litters of pups in 2019 alone. How can any of their dogs be well cared for by one family? Approx 2000 puppies a year, probably more. You just need to look on Instagram to see the 29000 tagged posts for raffles to see the huge amount of dogs coming out of here.
These dogs come out with a whole host of ailments, some die, some have anxiety so bad they are put to sleep. If you have children do you want to get a pup from someone who has put no time into its vital early weeks of socialisation?
If raffles had nothing to hide they would allow people into their kennels to see the truth of how their dogs are housed. The ‘nursery’ is a manipulation where a few litters are placed to dupe their customers into thinking this is how all their dogs are.
I put a deposit on a pup before lockdown. I’d previously contacted raffles about getting a pup 18 months before. Raffles then increased my price by £600. The daily mail did an article where the owners criticised other breeders for increasing Their prices more than they had. Then raffles increased their prices again to £3000!!! This is not a place where the dogs are well cared for, it is a puppy farm - plain and simple. Please do not find these greeders - do your research and get a puppy from a genuine home breeder.
Increased Price by £700 after taking my deposit
I placed a deposit for a Cavapoochon in January to reserve a puppy in July/August at the agreed advertised price. This constituted a legally binding contract. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered via a 3rd party that they were putting the prices up by £700! I emailed asking for a refund of the deposit as i was not going to pay the new price which was ignored. Then a few days later they emailed me telling me they placed a notification on their website and social media and wanted to “make sure I was aware of it”. I did get my deposit back after a second email and to be honest I’m glad I’m not getting my puppy from this Rouge Trader! Terrible service. Awful attitude
Excellent puppy we took home
Excellent puppy we took home, turned into a beautiful dog. We found Raffles brilliant through the whole process. Would 100% recommend.
Poor customer service.
Joined waiting list in March by paying deposit to purchase puppy from Sep/Oct 20 litter.
Heard nothing else since from Raffles until email stating they’d decided to increase price by 33%.
Such poor customer service and clearly financially driven with disregard for agreed terms.
