We travelled from Tokyo to Hiroshima…
We travelled from Tokyo to Hiroshima and the super team of rail monsters managed to book us a last train that even at the train station local staff didn’t manage to get.
We charged our departure 3 times and no problems at all

Don’t use this service to buy Shinkansen tickets!
We used this service to buy Shinkansen tickets from Tokyo to Osaka online prior to travelling to Japan from Australia. They overcharged us more than 50% compared with the price we later found on the Shinkansen website!!!

Way OVER PRICED!!!! Getting tickets was easy but the mark up was ridiculous. 2 x Ticket from Tokyo to Osaka on the Shinkansen cost $635 AUD. Ticket value $400 AUD. Feel ripped off paying an extra $235. Really upset and unhappy.

I purchased a return ticket for two…
I purchased a return ticket for two people, to go from Kyoto to Hiroshima. The times were 7.20am departing and returning 18.43 in the evening. When I received my online ticket, it confirmed that I had two single tickets going at 15.17. I know for a fact that I had put in the right information. I immediately contacted Rail Monsters, and pointed out that I hadn't ordered these tickets, and consequently wanted a refund, or to put the money towards the tickets that I originally wanted. They said that I would have to go through their processes of getting a refund. To my astonishment, they witheld £70. I paid £192.28 and received a refund of £121.80. As I said to them. I felt as though I had been scammed. The tickets they issued, were not the ones I ordered. It left such a bad taste, that I just lost interest in going to Hiroshima. I didn't go because I didn't want to pay twice for two tickets. My partner ended up going on her own. Incidentally, I waited until I received the refund, before writing this review, because I don't trust them. I warn everybody to think twice before dealing with this company!

We reviewed your entire case in detail, and here’s what we can confirm:
• Your original booking was made for a one-way trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima at 17:25, not a return journey at 07:20 and 18:43.
• The ticket you received matched exactly what was selected at checkout. Unfortunately, we received no contact from you before the ticket was issued, which would have allowed us to help you correct any mistake.
• Once tickets are issued, we are bound by the cancellation and fare rules of our rail supplier. These rules were clearly shown during booking (before purchase) and again before confirming the cancellation.
• Despite this, we processed your cancellation and issued a partial refund, exactly as shown on your side before you confirmed the refund (again shown, clearly).
• Our team even offered a goodwill solution: if you booked the correct tickets, we would do our best to waive the second cancellation fee — even though this goes beyond policy.
Calling this a scam is simply not fair. You received a valid ticket as booked (we showed prices before, no hidden-fees, yes or no deal kind of), full support from our team (human team, 24/7), and a refund processed per the rules you accepted (you accepted before the purchase). We understand that it’s upsetting when plans go wrong, but that does not mean any fraudulent activity occurred.
We are a platform, used by hundreds of thousands of travelers each year, with over 300 verified reviews and an average rating of 4.8 stars on Google. We’re not perfect, but we always act transparently and try to help when mistakes happen.
