I've received a letter this morning…

I've received a letter this morning from Rebate Gateway thankfully I've read the online reviews here as I'm very cautious about giving strangers personal details out. I was told by HMRC themselves if I'm entitled to a Tax Rebate I'd have to wait until April & then received a letter about Tax which to me set alarm bells ringing straight away. A phone call to HMRC on Monday morning.
Thank you everyone for writing reviews, it's been a real eye opener to this company.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE! I have worked in customer service for over 25 years and I have never experienced such a poor service. I can only explain them as rude, short, unhelpful and heartless. You are in the dark from the start, promised an initial call which i did not receive. Honestly please don't use, you will regret it. I filed several complaints that have been ignored however the second i wrote this review i recieved an email threatening legal action if i did not amend this review. When i initially wrote this review I had no idea what i was receiving so I could not work out what they had deducted for their own fees so I have amended this to comply but honestly just read all the other reviews and AVOID!!!!

**Avoid Rebate Gateway

**Avoid Rebate Gateway – Complete Scam and Shambles**

First time I used Rebate Gateway, they took their fee directly from the rebate. The second time, I went directly through HMRC, and somehow received a letter from Rebate Gateway claiming I owed them money for a rebate they had no involvement in. I emailed them asking for clarification around documentation and their involvement – nothing received. After 11 days, I got another letter threatening further action, including bailiffs, if I didn’t pay within 7 days.

When I emailed again, funny enough, they only responded after I put "complaint" in the subject line. Their staff are rude, completely ill-informed, and refused to acknowledge my complaint or provide any proof of their involvement. Worse yet, they refused to remove my personal data from their system, citing I needed to pay the invoice first, which is a clear violation of GDPR rules. They essentially tried to hold me to ransom over £17.86 – not a huge sum, but the principle is they invoiced me for something they had absolutely no part in.

Avoid these jokers at all costs! If I can stop even one person from using them, this review would be a success. Do yourself a favour and steer clear!

Avoid! Don’t tell you if documents submitted are incorrect, will threaten to charge for ‘extra unnecessary correspondence’

I have submitted documents multiple times to prove the money owed to me is paid to me. They never got back, I have chased it up and said ‘the website clearly states all four corners of the documents must be visible’ which it does not. I have then since received the below from them, bear in mind I have not tried to upload 8 times, this is my third attempt…

“Daniel,

You will note that we very clearly state any documentation that is provided needs to be complete - showing all four corners of the document. You obviously, have not done so.

This is now the 8th round of documents we have received from you. If we receive incorrect/incomplete documents again, we will charge you for the extra unnecessary correspondence involved.

Regards”

Avoid these and go through HMRC themselves. They are VERY unprofessional.

I have since gone ahead and contacted FCA who regulate them as I am now worried that they are not interested in giving me the money which is rightfully my own.

claimed a small about back from HMRC, and next thing i know, i have a bailiffs letter demanding money from me for rebate gatewatys fees, so not only do they have my rebate money, they are now demanding more money from me, please do not use this company, you can complete the rebate application yourself via the HMRC website

Wouldnt have been able to navigate…

Wouldnt have been able to navigate getting a rebate on my own as I am no good with filling out forms. I did try a long time ago and go rejected I assume because i didnt complete things propertly. Now got my rebate and really happy with things.

Wish I could score them zero

Wish I could score them zero, I used these con artist to get a rebate it was only a small amount by the time I received it it was less than half. So I sent them an email to express my anger and was told in capitals READ THE SMALL PRINT!!!!!. I replied told them I would never use them again and put a negative review. A few months later I applied for a rebate of over £2000 on the HMRC website myself was paid into my bank with in two weeks. I have just received a bill for over a £1000,from rebate gateway for helping to claim my rebate and have now passed it too a debt agency. Absolutely a scam con men the lot of them do not touch this company.

Got my rebate

Never expected that I was due a rebate until I found these guys. Have now got a rebate and my tax code changed for other future years so I am saving money as well.

PLEASE IGNORE AT ALL COSTS.

PLEASE IGNORE AT ALL COSTS.
A QUITE DISGRACEFUL EXPERIENCE AND WOULD NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF ENLISTING ANY HELP FROM THEM EVER AGAIN.
THEY ARE DECEIVING PEOPLE BY TAKING THEIR DETAILS AND NOT PROVIDING ANY TRANSPARENCY OF THE COMMISSION THEY TAKE. AND NOT REFUNDING THE CORRECT AMOUNT DUE TO THE CLAIMANT.
I HAVE WRITTEN A COMPLAINT REQUESTING A BREAKDOWN OF REFUND OF CALCULATION. THEIR OWN WEBSITE STATES THEY TAKE 39% PLUS VAT. WHICH IS A VERY HIGH RATE I THE FIRST PLACE, BUT WAS IS TRULY DISGUSTING IS THAT THEY ACTUALLY TAKE A LOT MORE THAN THAT.
THE RESPONSE WAS ONE OF THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL I HAVE SEEN. THEY NEITHER TAKE ANY COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY NOR REFUTE THE ALLEGATION OF MISAPPROPRIATINGVTHE REFUND PAYOUT. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.
THERE IS NO PROFESSIONALISM AND FROM THE RESPONSES TO ME THEY ARE QUITE HAPPY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF THEIR CORRECT ENTITLEMENT.
I WOULD NOT GIVE ANY STARS BUT HAD TO TO ENABLE THIS COMMENT.
THEY ARE MANIPULATING THE REFUNDS AND JUSTIFYING IT THROUGH NO TRANSPARENCY KNOWING FULL WELL, THE CLAIMANTS WILL NOT TAKE IT FURTHER.
A TRULY DISGUSTING ENTERPRISE LACKING INTEGRITY AND MORALITY, AND HAPPY TO MAKE MONEY FROM IT.

I have written a review on here before but was told to take it down or they would sue for libel. Although I only told the truth!
My experience has been absolutely diabolical. I was informed I was due a rebate of £256 in March. I rang HMRC and they told me they sent them a cheque on March 17th. Eventually in July I received a payment of £91, which is nowhere near what I am due. It is my money that I worked hard for and as a pensioner I needed that money.
The staff are beyond rude and sarcastic when you contact them. They told me they take 39% in fees then 20%VAT, so this no way equates to my payment. They told me it was because I have been insolvent (which I have checked with the ombudsman is rubbish) and they also said it was my husbands claim and they had contacted him which was also untrue.
I sent a letter asking for the full payment giving 28days before I take legal action, but they have refused to pay!!!
