Disappointing Experience with Reclaimed Bricks- Poor quality

Update:
I had to order the extra bricks in the end as RBC were ignoring me (builders needed to get on), there was a bit of a mix up with quantity (id recommend fully counting your order) but they did sort that quickly and the bricks are better than the poor quality batch, but still not great. Ive had spalling already in the frost and id barely enough fully intact ones to do the top course already.
I still had to buy extra replacement bricks and will have to pay to dispose of the faulty/poor quality batch so I am asking for a refund for the extras now my job timings dont depend on their response.

Im awaiting a resolution from my bank as I had to get them to step in.

Original post:
I purchased 750 ‘reclaimed farmhouse imperial handmade’ bricks from the Reclaimed Brick Company after a long drive to check the selection in person. Initially, I was happy with the quality of first pallet, but the second pallet has been extremely disappointing.

1 pallet was good, but about 40% (150) of one of the two pallets are unusable—damaged, with poor faces, and lots made from a completely different gritty material, many being oval in shape due to damage, most very dark (actually the whole 2nd pallet was just nothing like the online pictures but we made do, not that RBC appreciated that at all) , completely different bricks, and actually a different size. A pile of expensive rubbish.
The remaining 60% of that pallet (225) are the right size and type but much darker/sooty and crumbling compared to the first pallet, like they are from a chimney. Nothing like the listing.

If I had seen these on website or in person, I wouldn’t have bought them. I reached out to address what I thought was a mix-up, but instead of a satisfactory resolution, I was offered 50 free bricks and told to dispose of the 150 unusable ones myself. Ive been told our builders should have mixed them in and ‘variations are to be expected’ over the phone since.
I can understand they need to be mixed and they did their best to use as many as possible. But couldn’t use a lot of them, just rubbish broken bricks. I also didn't choose a particular type of brick out of a large selection to be sent completely different ones.

That RBC dont want them back is frustrating (and possibly saying something), especially since disposing of them is not free where I live. I understand that reclaimed bricks have variations, but these are significantly different from what I expected, what is shown in images and what I saw in person. I’m looking for a fair solution and hope the company will respond quickly, as I’ve lost my builders to their next job and want to complete my project soon.

Frustratingly I even need a few more bricks to finish my project, to meet them halfway I offered to buy 200 more if they top it up to 300 bricks and ensure they are of the same/similar quality as the 1st pellet. I also offered to dispose of the unusable bricks which will cost between £50-75 and a tip run (my area charges for hardcore waste). I dont have room in a skip, and this would take up at least 20% of one.
Rightfully though, they should collect the unusable bricks (or pay for disposal) and replace them with bricks as described and shown on website. I just thought this would help speed things up so I didn’t loose the builders, but it hasnt.

Under uk law, goods are returnable if not as described or not as shown on website, and the retailer bares the cost of the return.
Psa: Check your banks, they might be able to get you your cash back under consumer law.

If anyone would like to see images of the bricks compared to the listing, see my review on google.

I have been put in a difficult situation, and feel I have no choice but to leave this review and ask my bank to get my money back for the unusable portion.

Old London Yellow Stocks

Ordered a pallet of old London yellow stocks from this company as my local suppliers just didn't have the amount I needed. Was a little concerned as I am 150 miles away from Sheffield and didn't want to end up with a pallet of bananas. I needn't of worried,  bricks turned up quickly, properly stacked with no damage and were accurate depictions of what was shown in the many detailed pictures. Only issue was some of the bricks did range in size from 210mm to 225mm,  but it worked out okay for my garden wall as I like the rustic look and I am very happy with my purchase.  Thanks RBC.

Terrible quality.

We ordered Handmade farmhouse bricks. They were terrible quality with huge cracks on the vast majority of the faces, most of them weren't rectangular but missing multiple corners to the point where they looked oval and there was huge disparity in the sizes of them. Between having to buy extra bricks to make up for those that were completely unusable, and the amount of extra time our builder charged us for how long it took to piece together the size differences and make our fireplace still fit these useless bricks cost us an extra £800

Have no idea what vehicles can go where

Although I live in a country lane it is wide enough for dust carts, a double decker bus, and the odd lost artic. Having been in transport and owning many trucks over the years, I am well aware of what can and cannot get down my lane. I purchased bricks and express delivery. Before delivery and, I'm guessing, curtesy of google, the company decided they can't get a 26t lorry down the lane. I've had 44t trucks down to my yard. I was given the option, pay £20 to split the load onto two pallets and delivery via a smaller vehicle or pay a restocking charge! Total con and a scam! When the courier arrived, he had the bricks on one pallet, not the two I had paid for, and I had to handball them off. The courier driver was helpful. This company is definitely a buyer beware!

Prompt Service with a Smile

My delivery of stone arrived promptly this morning, Brendon, the driver, was courteous and patient, as I had to move cars to allow him to skilfully manouevre the on board crane and place the load safely and gently on my driveway. And all with a smile.
A really good service.
