Awful, didn’t send me a renewal email, now charging me to cancel, Delboy would be proud

I took out cover and within 20 minutes…
I took out cover and within 20 minutes realised the car I was purchasing was cat s so asked to cancel straight away/ move to another vehicle. Absolutely no understanding from Dynamo cover, just a very curt email stating there is a £34 admin fee. I explained that I am buying a car this week and will of course use Dynamo if they are understanding and can change the vehicle. Not a chance. They just want their quick "Buck". Absolutely deplorable customer services. AVOID!!
don't deal with this company
don't deal with this company. They add excessive fees to policy prices, fail to disclose them then create fraudulent documents to back up their claims.
Worse than that, breakdown service is poor also.
Pay a bit more and go with one of the decent companies.

Review for dynamo cover. Recover Cover is a TRADING AS.
The WORST company I've ever had to deal with.
This really is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. They auto-renewed without notifying me. Claimed they'd sent an email which I hadn't received. I checked everywhere junk/spam too. I was able to locate the original one from a year ago mind you as well as the receipt for my payment to them. This was nearly double my original premium. They wanted to charge an 8.99 cancellation fee - I contacted them the same day of payment - because it's just so hard to press a button right? It actually speaks volumes about this company that if you cancel after the 14 day period they DO NOT refund your premium at all and charge you £9.99. Confused.com? Yeah I was too infact all comparison sites should take Dynamo Cover/Action Call off their sites. I managed through some emails to "negotiate" the cancellation fee to £6.99. Woop woop - 2 quid.
I've got my partial refund now and put a block on the company which if you are tempted to use them...(it seems the service is okay if you need to use them) then it could be a reasonable value - because it will stop them helping themselves to your bank balance.
They will probably reply saying I agreed to this in the T&Cs...terrible clause indeed. However, in their own terms, they state they should inform you 21 days before. With that email that didn't turn up yeah? Additionally, I found some T&Cs stating I would receive a letter to my home address confirming this. When I put this to the customer service representative, Chelsea, she said I opted for email communication only. I'd say that was a cop out. You choose your marketing preferences on compare the market. I usually leave the post anyway and this is probably a made-up excuse. Even if I did opt out of post marketing though surely a renewal isn't marketing though? It's a key document that you should get sent - they defo had my address for cover purposes too. They also had my mobile number so could have used that - which TESCO/Admiral have done for me in the past. It is the honest thing to do. Clearly this company makes its buck of sneaky renewals and cancellation fees which for some will lead to bounced payments on cards and current accounts causing financial difficulty. I hope Chelsea and the team around her are happy doing this.
On my behalf, the citizen's advice service has referred this to Trading Standards in Wales. I'm very pleased to hear my review and the others here on TrustPilot have given them grounds to investigate.
Stephen David Jenkins and Alexander William Mills should seriously consider the impacts of how they run the business. Its a small tweak, I don't mind auto-renewal that's fine it ensures you are not without cover if you need it, they just need to ensure they are given proper notification in an email that gets sent at least, a text and letter more ideally. I'd be happy to pay a cancellation fee then and wouldn't be so angry. Most of the reviews on here then would be positive and about the service they provide, which most of the positive reviews on here are about.
After changing my vehicle and…
After changing my vehicle and contacting them i had a breakdown. Call assist had no record of my new vehicle and Dynamo's office were closed. I have been charged £90 and £9.99 to change my vehicle details. Dynamo refuse to take on board that there maybe an error on their part. PLEASE stay away from this company. you have been warned.
really dont deal with robbing company 6…
really dont deal with robbing company 6 months left on my breakdown cover, changed car and they wanted to charge me half as much again just to change a registration number
Just awful
Just awful. Taken out a boiler cover from this sham of an outfit. She paid the policy in full right away and since then have had no service provided. They promised a service of the boiler and 3 months later dtill not service, whenwe chased them up they just keep fobbing us off. Its 24/7 boiler cover that we have supposidly taken out from them but when we called them on a saturday morning the phone line stated there only working hours are mon-fri 9-5. Please stay away from this company they are a scam and need to be shut down
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS - I took out insurance with this company for my mobile telephones and then in the small print the long and short of it is that they don't insurance it for anything at all - THE STAFF ARE RUDE ONCE YOU RING THEM UP TO COMPLAIN - and then you cancel and they charge you to cancel
I was delighted with the first class…
I was delighted with the first class service this company provided. Very pleasant, efficient and courteous phone manner.
I had a puncture around Midnight and within 30 mins the Garage they had contacted in my area had a mechanic at my door!
15 mins later job done.. in the cold and rain... so thankful for the prompt response and reliable service.
Highly recommend Recover Cover breakdown service...
Alex Mills MD is absolute FRAUDSTER !!!!
I was taking out my car insurance online at gocompare.com, I was offered breakdown cover and after filling in my details I was offered breakdown cover by three companies, Nova, Recover Cover 24hr and Dynamo Rescue all at different prices.. I printed off terms from Recover Cover 24hr to throughly read prior to buying. I them paid online and a different company Dynamo Rescue covered me, I printed off the terms and it was different, more pages and not the same company name. I felt something was dodgy and went online to Trustpilot - I should have done this before!! The company has 1 out of 5 reviews on 96% the reviews were utterly shamefull, people werent covered, nobody answering calls out of office hours etc... Then I rang the company telephone number, I noted that the managing directed was Alex Mills on both companies, he said he would be able to cancel my cover but it would cost £8.99 for cancellation fee, I explained to him that I ordered with one company and the other provided cover and I refused to pay the cancellation fee as I have 14 days to cancel for free. On his second form it states I have to pay £8.99 to cancel, he couldnt care less and is an absolute fraudster.. he needs to be stopped. Since I have contacted my credit card company and they are going to try to refund my £8.99. but its not the money I am concerned about, this man is an absolute rogue and needs to be stopped.
My car was broken down and I called for…
My car was broken down and I called for the recovery. That was my first call since I started my policy and I noticed how bad decision I did by choosing Dynamo Cover.
First of all, I spent 26 minutes on the phone to give my details. However, they could fetch all my details with the policy number.
The agent said the office was closed and they could not verify my policy. (what does 7/24 helpline mean). Since no one verified my policy, the agent charged me £90 and they promised me as soon as they verify on 9 am the next day, then they would refund the money.
Next day I haven't received any refund and call from them.
After paying £90 they sent rescue within 1 hour which is the only positive side. While I was waiting for the rescue, I checked the issue on the internet and I was pretty sure it was a fuse issue Rescue just attempt to jumping. I asked him to check the fuse but he said he could not access the fuse box and rejected to repair. I asked him to pull my car to the garage. since it was 7 pm he said that I had to call again the next day within working hours.
Consequently, even though I had a valid policy, they charged me £90 for nothing and they left me with a broken-down car.
Bought a Breakdown and Gadget policy…
Bought a Breakdown and Gadget policy from these cowboys. On the face of it the product looked cheap.
Be warned these Welsh Cowboys are happy to take your money. Their founder, an Apprentice drop out, is famous for conning people out of money by selling them tombstones that don't exist. If this conman can steal money from people when they are at their most vulnerable why am I surprised he conned me out of money on my policies?
Firstly, I bought Breakdown Cover covering my Ford which was 15 years old. I also bought Caravan extension. Turns out from the Breakdown provider that my vehicle is not actually covered by the policy because its too old and that the Caravan extension never actually existed. I took the matter to the Ombudsman, and they agreed with the Breakdown provider that these cowboys should never have sold me this policy as it never covered my vehicle. I will be pursuing an action against these jokers seperately. The Caravan extension that never was, well, thats just fraud. How has the FCA not investigated these people for what I can only describe as an illegal activity?
Secondly, I bought a Gadget policy covering my Samsung S8. I dropped it in March and it turns out my phone was never covered either. The policy wording actually says Samsung S8s were excluded. Called up Dynamo Con who told me it was the Claims Handlers fault and that they should be covering the damage. I initially bought their lies so reported the matter to the FOS. Again, I lost the matter because the policy wording actually excludes this phone model.
So here I am, sat wondering - firstly, why did these jokers sell me something that didn't exist. Why didn't they exclude customers such as me from their system? Many others do, such as Emergency Assist or Rescue my Car. As I am sure you can imagine, I feel like I have been sold one of those Tombstones. Secondly, why have they blamed the Service Provider rather than taking responsibility for themselves? A simple sorry, it was a systems error, here is your money back would have been enough. Too much to expect I guess...
I would warn anyone against this company. They are unethical, immoral and not the kind of company I would suggest anyone use. I'd like to say their trust pilot surprises me. I did a bit of research online and their brands all appear to be:
- Action Call
- Dynamo Cover
- Recover Cover
- Home Rescue
It should come as no surprise that all 4 have less than 1 star Trustpilot reviews. That alone shows me that there are systematic issues with the company group as a whole. I would encourage everyone to do your own research.
At this point in time I would complain further but to be honest these guys just don't care. I have spoken to Shannon who is curt and rude. I have spoken to Ryan who is dismissive and argumentative. I have spoken to Chris whose job it appears to be to just to say yes and then ignore everything you have said. I have asked for call recordings but it came as no surprise that they don't have any. My feelings on the matter is its far easier to steal from others when there is no actual record of what is happening being stored as potential evidence against you. As the saying goes, at least highway men wear masks so you can easily identify who they are and that they're about to be robbed.
My advice to everyone else is simply to just avoid this company and go with the AA, RAC or Emergency Assist.
Avoid this company at all costs
Please do not take out breakdown cover with them, it will end up biting you in the bum!
They operate under the Dynamo Cover name also to cause confusion.
I broke down on 08/01/2020...
I broke down on 08/01/2020 in a retail car park as the clutch packed up. I phoned Dynamo for the first time. I cannot believe how exceptionally brilliant the service was. From calling them, to the arrival of the breakdown truck and the follow up phone calls to check if everything was ok was fantastic. I can only speak from my experience, I would highly recommend them to anyone. A big thank you to everyone involved...
Beware
Beware - Automatic renewals. I wasn't aware that they auto renewed you. Then they charge you £8.99 to cancel !!!
Shocking customer service.
Charlatans
96%one *rating I was amazed to see that it wasn't 100%. be aware and renewal date big increase in fees difficult to cancel.don't like giving your money back then charge you a cancellation for you 8.99.
Recovercover = Dynamo Cover = AVOID!!
Shocking. Had a breakdown cover policy under Dynamo Cover but they send renewal emails from recovercover which go straight to Spam folder. Cost £8.99 to cancel a policy I didn’t even want.
Customer Service lied to me twice and then lied about lying...
Do yourself a favour and a) don’t go with these thieves and their “style” of trading;
b) get out if you are already with them;
c) check spam folders and look for recovercover for renewal notices, even if you’ve bought a Dynamo Policy in the past.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I’ve recorded the call details and am getting onto the Ombudsman out of principal.
