Taster session, Actors Gym and Acting Training Course
I don’t think I can fully do this school justice in a single review, but my experience has been genuinely transformative.
I initially joined a taster session after going through a difficult period in my life and wanting to rebuild my confidence. The taster alone was great value for money—welcoming, engaging, and just the right level of challenge to push me out of my comfort zone. It gave me the confidence to sign up for the 9-week course.
The 9-week acting course (Beginner–Intermediate) exceeded my expectations. The training combines techniques like Stanislavski and Meisner, and focuses on understanding character, intention, and truthful performance rather than just “acting.” I learned how to break down scripts, stay present in scenes, and really listen and react.
The environment is supportive but honest—you’ll be challenged, and you’ll get direct, constructive feedback, but always in a way that helps you grow. The tutors explain why they give notes, which makes a huge difference in understanding both the craft and the industry.
The people I met on the course made the experience even more special. There’s a real sense of community, and I’ve built friendships I genuinely value.
Mark, David, Danni, Irene, and Jason are amazing tutors and I have learnt so much from all of them. I appreciate every piece of feedback and support. Thank you so much for all you have taught us.
Last but not least, the online classes, self-tape challenges, and courses on the Actors Gym are absolutely fantastic—worth every penny.
The online classes gave me the opportunity to continue learning from home twice a week alongside the in-person course, which really helped me stay consistent and keep building on my skills and techniques.
The self-tape challenges are especially valuable. Each submission is reviewed with feedback, allowing me to track my progress and improve with every recording. It’s also great to see how others approach the same material, which adds another layer of learning and inspiration.
It was also really inspiring to see people like George and Joshua, who started as students at The Reel Scene and now work with the school while also acting. It shows how the training can translate into real opportunities.
There are even chances to gain industry insight, such as working or being on set with professionals like Kevin McNally, which helps bridge the gap between training and real-world experience.
What started as a way to rebuild my confidence has turned into a real passion for acting, and I’m excited to continue developing further at the Reel Scene.
If you’re unsure about joining—don’t be. It may push you outside your comfort zone, but that’s where the growth happens. I’d highly recommend it
I attended the 6 day intensive acting…
I attended the 6 day intensive acting course and absolutely loved it.
I love that RS teaches students with honesty about the industry, and the working actors/directors/casting directors taught theory in a way that made sense and was directly applicable to the scenes. Each tutor bought unique perspectives to our work, resulting in really well developed showreel scenes.
At the end of my final day, I attended a chemistry read, which I was able to approach with confidence and clarity after being given some really useful advice from the RS tutors, and I ended up getting the part! This felt like the perfect closure to a really transformative week for me.
You also really get a sense that the whole team all love working there and it’s a very special environment to be a part of, which is lovely to see.
I would definitely recommend to anyone serious about taking the first steps towards an acting career
Grateful.
Reel Scene…
How grateful I am to have found this place.
From the moment I attended the taster session, something settled in me. I knew this was where I was meant to be. Choosing the week-intensive course only deepened that certainty. In just a short time, I’ve grown not only in skill, but in belief, in myself, in my voice, in my place within this craft.
The mentors here do more than teach, they guide with care, patience, and a deep love for the craft. Learning from respected professionals, whose work in film and television I’ve always admired was inspirational. You don’t just learn here, you absorb, you evolve.
To create alongside like-minded artists is a gift in itself. There is a sense of safety that allows you to take risks, to be vulnerable, and to grow without fear.
Alex... a truly beautiful soul. The heart of this place. The way he leads with humility, with warmth, with unwavering belief in others is something that stays with you. It’s not just about building actors, but nurturing people. That same energy flows through the entire team, welcoming, open, and genuinely beautiful.
Towards the end of my time here, I was fortunate enough to be cast in a role and to have booked it just as I stepped out into the world beyond the course. This led to me signing with Reel Scene Talent Agency, a path I’m deeply grateful to now walk.
The beginning.
Endlessly grateful for my time here.
Thank you.
The most amazing hands on course!
I had such an amazing experience at The Reel Scene. From the very beginning, I was surrounded by the most incredible people—both the actors on the course and the tutors and associates. Everyone was so welcoming, supportive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even more special.
I learned so much during my time there. It wasn’t just theory or talk, it was real, hands-on practice that pushed me to grow and improve. Every session felt valuable, and it was absolutely worth every penny.
What truly stood out to me was how encouraging everyone was, while still being honest and realistic about the industry. That balance made a huge difference. The team didn’t just talk about acting, they got us actively doing it, which helped build real confidence.
Thanks to The Reel Scene, I’ve regained belief in myself and in my dream. It’s something I’ll never forget. I would highly recommend the course and the entire team to anyone serious about acting.
Thank you to The Reel Scene!

Great community and people
I had an excellent time at the beginner's acting course, both the teaching team and the general community at the Reel Scene was great and it truly encouraged me to push past my normal boundaries and discover something that I feel truly interested and invested in.
Industry focused and inspiring training
I’ve just finished the one-year acting course at The Reel Scene, it’s been a special experience. It helped me grow as an actor and a person. When I started, I didn’t realise how much confidence and self-belief I would gain over the year.
By the end of the course, we even made a short film on a professional set, which truly inspired me to create my own work.
Each month focused on a different scene, which helped me understand what roles I’m best suited for and what kind of work excites me most. Alex, Debbie and Steve are warm, welcoming and always gave valuable advice. All teachers brought their own unique styles, and they were always patient and understanding if you made a mistake, which made it such a safe and supportive place to learn. Robin Berry and David Schaal I found were especially fun and helpful to help me come out myself.
I finished this course more confident, more self-aware, and excited for what’s next. I’d recommend it to anyone serious about acting and developing there craft.
I had a great time doing the 6-day…
I had a great time doing the 6-day intensive course at The Reel Scene last November. The teachers, all industry professionals, shared interesting insights and helped us craft our scenes all the way up to the shooting day. They were also very involved, supportive, and open throughout the process. The follow-ups with Alex after the course are a great way to keep feeling connected with The Reel Scene.
Ending the course with professional headshots and a showreel was the highlight for me, as I now feel ready and confident to enter the industry.
Great experience in this 1 year course
I just completed the one year course and I feel that it is really worth it. I met a lot of great people. I have learnt a lot from both my coursemates and instructors. Everyone in my class has different acting level of experiences that we all get to learn from each other. The instructors are professionals in the industry. They give useful feedback and direction for our acting. They all have different directing styles which pushed me to try to adapt into the moment. Also, even with their different directing styles, they always complement your acting ability as in enhancing more on your acting approach.
The way the course is structured is that classes take place basically first weekend of each month: Friday evening, and the full day for the whole weekend. I think that this schedule works well if you are working or studying full time. In each month, we are given different themes with Friday evening and Saturday being rehearsals or workshop in preparation for the filmshoot for your monthly scene on Sunday. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to experience and learn what it feels like to act in front of camera. With difference themes, you also get to explore acting in different genre and find your strength. You get to experiment on yourself in which acting style may work for the scene that you are working on. And then, by the end of the course you will have a least 10 scenes for you to use and you can use them to put together your showreel. And it is also cool that you will get to shoot a short film in the last month with a professional crew. On the 11th month, you will mainly be focusing on preparing for your filmshoot.
In addition to the course itself, we have been given access to the Actors Gym. I participated in multiple classes and workshop in there. They also have a bi-weekly self-tape challenge in which each time you submitted your self-tape, a coach will give you feedback for your to improve upon.
I’m 16 and I just finished the one year…
I’m 16 and I just finished the one year Screen Acting course at The Reel Scene. I had to travel from Cyprus to London every month to take part but it was honestly so worth it.
The course was amazing. We worked with professional actors and directors, learned so much about screen acting, auditions and what the industry is really like. Everyone there is really supportive and made me feel comfortable while still pushing me to get better.
I’ve grown a lot in confidence and skills over the year and I feel much more ready for auditions now. I’d definitely recommend The Reel Scene to anyone who is serious about acting.
Train at the Reel Scene with working professionals
I play Jay’s Dad in The Inbetweeners and am an acting coach for the Reel Scene. They provide a very modern training programme for aspiring actors. All students receive a solid grounding in the Stanislavski and Meisner techniques and the courses are geared towards performance. Actors leave the one year course with some fantastic showreel material as they are filming scenes every month, as well receiving great parts in an end of year short film. The Reel Scene is a combination of British style conservatoire training with the more flexible training programmes typically found in New York and L.A. The Reel Scene’s USP is that everybody who works there is a working professional and can impart up to date knowledge which is directly transferable to the acting profession. Highly recommended.
Actor's Gym is Gold
I subscribe to the Actor's Gym and found it to be invaluable, I do weekly online workshops and always learn and progress. Because of this l've had successful auditions so even actors will benefit!
I participated in the 3 month course…
I participated in the 3 month course with Reel Scene this year and completed it!!!
It was an amazing experience and being able to learn new and old techniques which will be extremely beneficial in my acting career was useful and having hands on experience with professionals in the industry was amazing. Additionally, practicing scripts, self tapes and being on camera helped with my confidence and the anxious feeling I get before being on camera.
Overall it was an amazing experience and also met the most loveliest bunch of people on my course, so I definitely recommend!!
A year that has gone too quickly
A year that has gone too quickly. From a group of lost thespians to the stars we are today. I couldn't have done it without the dedicated team that is the reel scene.
Grateful for The Reel Scene Experience
The journey with The Reel Scene has been enriching. Whether it is a 45 min acting class or a 6 days Intensive Course, the teaching and organisation were done at the highest level of professionalism and competence. The amount of knowledge I have received as well as the hands on experience are both impressive. I am very grateful for the experience that Everyone at The Reel Scene has shared with me. Behind the scenes, the environment is positive and optimistic, encouraging and supportive, which means a lot for an actor who is either going back to acting after a break and needs that boost of confidence or breaking into the industry in the UK and just learning the ropes of how it all works here in London, which may be different from ex. Hong Kong. What made this experience even more special is the level of invited guest acting teachers, casting directors and producers who are truly inspiring professionals in their field.
A workshop
The atmosphere at the school is amazing, I’ve felt since I stepped through the doors! I really enjoyed the Testing Workshop, I thought it was really engaging, fun and not boring at all. I would recommend everyone to visit and try out for yourself your acting skills!
Excellent service, activities and value for money
Had an amazing 3-hour acting taster session with Robin at the weekend! Was great to get acquainted with the team, the company and all they have to offer. Their resume is impressive and I’ll definitely be looking forward to checking out their upcoming projects! It’s always a bit intimidating to get back into acting after a hiatus, but to be in such a fun and supportive environment with other people in the same boat, along with others wanting to give acting a go for the first time, made for a non-intimidating environment.
Robin was a dynamic, funny and fantastic coach and I really enjoyed the director’s talk with Alex afterwards too. We did a lot of fun improv activities which helped us all loosen up and get to know one another as well as appreciate just how little time actors often have to prepare for their performances.
I’d really recommend one of these taster sessions to anyone either wanting to improve their acting skills, start from scratch, meet new people and network.
I did the taster workshop and it was so…
I did the taster workshop and it was so much fun. I went in so nervous, as I have no experience whatsoever, and didn’t actually think I would engage.
Robin was fantastic, fun and created an amazing environment for everybody and I also got a nice and much needed pep talk!
We also got to see some other students as they were filming.
I left so enthusiastic and happy!
Acting taster class
I took an acting taster class with reel scene. The crew was so sweet and the tasks were spot on while still being fun. I had a great time, got to practice my improv among other things, and meet some amazing people.
Would definitely recommend!
