Hidden insurance costs

Hidden insurance costs. Didn't pick the car and did not reimbursed the money. My advise, Never rent with a cheap third-party company, specially from United kingdom like this one.

Will never use this company

Bad as it can get
We have been over charged by Brent for extra cover when we already had full cover but now rental car sud they can’t do anything as it’s B Rent who took the payment!
I trusted B Rent because I books through you!
To whom it may concern

Dear sir/ Madam

I am writing to report and inform you about a fraud that has been committed with us. We booked our car hire with B- Rent Naples via Rental cars from uk. We had paid in full for the car hire and full insurance cover in advance.

When we went to collect the car at your office in Naples on 5th October the lady at the desk of B- Rent who served us discussed what we had paid for and filled in a form in Italian so not sure what she was writing as we don’t speak Italian. She confirmed all the details of the booking and double confirmed that we were fully covered and it’s all been paid for. She happily confirmed all the details and told us yes we have nothing to worry as everything was pre paid and good.

We were explained that she will be charging us 90€ for the diesel although she confirmed that the car only had 21 litres not 45 I.e. it was slightly less than half the tank. She asked us to bring the car with half tank and out 90€ will be refunded on our return on 8th October.

We were happy and she made me sign on an iPad which was electronic signature and we could not check anything and trusted the lady, she then printed out the document and straight away put the document in a folder and told us where the car was and drop off details etc, we didn’t know that she had made us sign into some other insurance as well. And that she had charged our card for 150€ without explaining us what it’s for, asking our permission or telling us.

This is fraud. We slated had full cover why would we need or buy another full cover insurance when we are already covered?

When we checked our bank account on the 6th October morning, we were shocked at this unauthorised charge, we called out bank and were told maybe it’s just a security deposit as the payment was pending and might be refunded on return. So did not do anything! We were still concerned and very upset that our card was charged without us knowing about it.

On 7th we tried calling all the numbers given to us your colleague to check why we were charged! But had no luck as all the numbers given to us were in correct or music went on and on.

On Tuesday 8th I tie it was clear to us that the payment has been taken unauthorised from our card so we contacted our bank and raised the concerns. We also called B Rent’s customer services which was not easy as we had incorrect telephone numbers so the lady in the hotel helped us to find the correct number. When we spoke to the customer services representative he told us that we were sold an extra cover by mistake and we should go early to the drop off desk and get the refund there.

So we went to the drop off near the airport two hours early to get this issue resolved.

When I went to the desk I made a video recording so I have all the evidence o can to support my case. The guy at the desk clearly said I need to write to you via email and your will refund us the full payment as he can’t refund me anything down their offices.

Kindly find attached video recording and I would like you to refund me in full €150 that were charged to our card without me agreeing or authorising it.

Your colleague has either done this by mistake or has committed fraud with us.

Either way we want our money back to close the matter.

We have reported you to our banks as well and we will be happy to escalate the matter of needed further. But I would like to give you a chance to resolve this issue without us taking further actions against B Rent and Rental cars

We have given our card details in good faith to the lady at the desk surely not to be used and abused.

I would like this issue sorted ASAP and to be compensated for all the aggravation caused to us whilst on holiday.

I will have to send you the video recording separately as the email is too big

Thanks

Iren Brown

First and last time I use a Third party website to book a hire car

I initially booked a rental car through the Jet2.com website (it later transpired Jet2.com where subsequently booking through RentalCar.com whom where making the final booking through GoldCar.

When I arrived at Girona Airport I was asked by the Gold Car representative "Are you OK to take a Diesel?" and " Because you have split the booking between rentalcar.com and Gold Car there is an additional 125Euro charge for full excess insurance cover"

Long story short I was charged an additional 40Euros per day for the privilege of driving a Diesel vehicle and the additional 125Euros was to avoid "temporarily" having to pay 1000Euros excess until it would be paid RentalCar.com in the event of an accident. (apparently I would have simply paid this on a personal credit card and Rentalcars.com would have refunded it in a matter of weeks).

Trying to get any information / resolution on this from rentalcars.com was hideous.

For my part I should have look more closely at details of charges before taking the car (not always your first priority when your at an airport with 2 tired children)

I will never use a third party to book a hire car again - it simply complicates the transaction and doesn't bring any tangible benefits.

Hidden charges from budget jfk airport

Hidden charges from budget jfk airport, At the time of the return they charge me for gas 117, gave me a receipt for 117, and they charge the credit card 267.
I made the claim and they don’t answer, just an automated message. I have 15 days writing back to them and replied with the same automated message. Unbelievable.
This happen at budget Jfk airport.
And this is not the first time, so renter, be in attention to those budget charges after retuning your vehicle.
At the pickup time vehicle was dirty inside and outside. And the attendant was nothing nice.
On my next rental budget won’t be an option.

Passing the Buck

They deducted additional charges for exceeding the daily mileage allowance, without providing an invoice which can be challenged, I only became aware of the additional charge when I went online to check my credit card for something else, BUT the worse thing is that they charged me for exceeding the daily allowance when I had not even reached it, they are either incompetent or thieves. Fortunately I always take photos of the cars and speedometers before and after I collect any car. I used RentalCars.Com who are part of Booking.Com, both are useless and are about to get a Small Claim action against them.
They also claimed that a Dacia was an upgrade on the Ford Focus, which they had allocated to me until I told them that I had my own CDW insurance.
They claim that it's nothing to do with them (Booking.Com) as its Rentalcar.com who manage car hire, but they say that it's nothing to do with them as the car rental is with Buchbinder.

Ridiculous hidden costs

Their search engine showed prices around €385 so I booked the car. I ended up paying more than €600 with additional costs and extra costs when I got back from my holiday. Great way to ruin the holiday vibe.

Avoid rentalcar.com under circumstance

Avoid rentalcar.com under all circumstances.

My flight was cancelled to Düsseldorf airport from Amsterdam, so I was unable to get to the hire office before closing. I tried on numerous occasions, through email and phone calls to contact them to inform them I would be late due to a cancellation,to no avail. The following morning I finally got through on the phone to be told my hire was cancelled and I was not entitled to any form of refund. I explained if I was not entitled to a refund I would pick up the car later that day, only to be told if I wanted a car later that day I would have to re-book it and pay the full amount again.
This company is using a loop hole in their agreement to cancel bookings and re-hire a vehicle to gain double payment for the same car. Fair enough charge for no shows charge for cancellations but for turning up late through no fault of your own seem a bit callous.
Very unhelpful staff with no compromise.
AVOID AT ALL COST!

I then contacted enterprise car rental . The staff were courteous and could not do enough to help me. They were very apologetic for my treatment on my first visit to there country.

One further point.
how is it according to this site rentalcar.com has a very bad rating1/5, but if you go to their site it shows they have a 7.5/10 trustpilot rating
WHAT DOES THAT SAY? RIP OFF MERCHANTS.

Bad Mistake

Bad mistake. They charged me for damage waiver insurance on a car hire in Cyprus. When I got there, the company (Europcar) said no; you get this insurance from us we do not recognise any outside insurance.. So I had to pay twice. 2 emails to these people have gone unanswered. DO NOT USE. If I could give minus stars I would.

PLEASE DONT USE THEM!!!! Rental car.cheating

PLEASE DONT USE THEM!!!!
I rented a car with assurance, which I paid extra for, but the renting company where I should pick up the car, didn’t or told me that the assurance I bought wasn’t approved. When I told rentacar the problem they told me that the couldn’t help😳
Cheating cheating cheating.... the only way we can stop the cheating is that we stands together and fights together. I will make it a Facebook site and all other sites to tell people what a cheating company they are.

I have rented 50 cars in my life and…

I have rented 50 cars in my life and Rentalcars experience was the worst. Don't use them. Here is why. My BA plane was delayed. I had downloaded their App and provided my flight number. When I arrived at the airport all the other rental company desks were open except their partner Gold Cars. Ok I thought I'll just call up at 9am. But when I did I was told that the booking which was prepaid for 2 weeks had been cancelled. Since rentalcars are owned by priceline I thought it's Ok, They will sort it. But in e day after messaging them I received an email from Heather Robinson saying they would not provide a full refund. I am.out of pocket for airport taxis and will now have to resort to legal claim for my refund. This us not the behaviour of a reputable company and probably why they have so many other 1 star reviews. Priceless!

I was charged an additional 380 euros, what a scam

We booked via rentalcars.com 3 months and 10 days in advance to ensure a cheaper rate. However when we picked up the car we were made to pay a lot more than the initial car hire fee. We paid Rentalcars.com 268.01 euros for the 15 days car rental not including insurance (we decided to pay Firefly directly). To take the car we paid another 225.08 euros for 15 days car rental. Plus 82.50 for Portugal plus 71.22 to cover a full tank of gas and another 101.65. So we were made to pay 560 euros (inc tax 79.55) for 15 days. In total we paid 828.01 euros with insurance and tax. The Firefly representative explained the car we booked was not available so we had to take the next biggest. So this increased the total costs. Next she told us we had to pay the return fee for an empty tank. Very odd as I always return the car with a full tank. Plus another fee for not returning the car on time. Again very bizarre as we had not taken the car yet. I then explained we live in Madrid and we are both residents. She quickly changed her tone and was polite once she realised we are not tourists from another country. What a disappointment to be ripped off to start our holiday. We have made an initial complaint to Firefly and Consumer Rights in Spain and UK. So in summary we agreed to the 268.01 15 day car hire. Plus we went to their office to check the booking and cost for the insurance, the fee given was 180 for insurance. Expected total of 448.01 so we paid 380 euros extra...

BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK

BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK
Very competitive price. However. A terrible company to deal with.
I booked a car for one day hire @ £38.64
£70.89 Was taken from my account?
So I phoned to find out why. I was told at first I had no booking. Once they found the booking I was told I had to provide 2 forms of I d and 2 utility bills on the day. I'm 56 and never had an accident in my life.
Annoyed I cancelled. With a wait of 7 days for my money to be returned.
7 days later and more phone calls denying I ever booked a car. Been told they didn't cancel and I have yet another 7 days to wait.

competitive but if you have an issue, will be a quite painful process

Competitive prices. If you will ever have a problem, be aware.
I booked a car, when I arrived the car was not available (booking 315210342), so I had to book a car at the moment with another company, paying with my own pocket, having agreed that on the phone with Rentalcar they will completely refund me.
After 50 days I am still chasing the refund and I only get very vague answers.

Update from today: they finally processed the refund. For that I am moving from 1 star to 3. The amount of time wasted chasing was definitely excessive.

Just Lost a Customer

I booked a car for 3 days over the telephone and the Southend branch confirmed they would pick me up at 3pm free of charge. After waiting for 13 minutes I called them again and was told (very apologetically) that there had been a mix-up and my booking had not gone on their system.

'Louis' finally picked me up at 3:40pm and started apologising again. I told him not to worry as these things happen, so no need for self-flagellation. He started apologising again. I kept trying to change the subject but he kept apologising and saying he wanted to make it up to me and 'look after' me.

While at first this was a little embarrassing, it gradually became increasingly frustrating as it emerged that Louis' idea of 'looking after' me consisted in charging me an extra £16 a day for excess protection insurance (against their whopping £1,000 excess, which by the way was nowhere near that much in the past!!). I repeatedly told him I was NOT interested but it was no use.

Each time I told him I was not interested he started apologising again and then again tried to flog me the excess protection. He deliberately drove at 20 miles an hour on an empty road to better inflict his sales pitch on me.

This continued for the 25-minute drive to the branch and then also inside the branch, at which point I became so exasperated I told him I didn't want his car any more and walked out.

I have used Enterprise at least twice before and they were not like this. What happened? Why on earth have they started abusing their customers like this?

In this case they not only lost the booking, but an existing customer too, because I will avoid them like the plague from now on.

totally inadequate and stressful

I needed a hire car as my car broke down. as it was xmas couldn't get one til 27th dec (totally understandable) so on their website I booked and paid for a car to be picked up from the local office 9am (they give you the option on the website to choose a time) arranged for a friend to take me down there. at 7:15 am got a call from enterprise saying they don't have a car for that time, when I said about the website I was told " it will let you book a collection time but doesn't mean to say we have any cars available". I said I had 2 confirmation emails, they said "that's just provisional doesn't mean to say you have a car" . explained I needed one as I was working shifts and look after my dad who has dementia. they eventually said they would deliver to my work even though they don't normally do that ! I said I needed it asap as I had to use my break to check on my dad. they said they would clean the car and bring it down. they brought the car down, it was fairly clean inside but was dirty on the outside, one of the seats was torn. I booked a 5 door but got a 3 door . I have to say I would never use enterprise ever again and wish I had gone with a local company instead. very stressful all round. one thing they also said was "you could book a hundred cars for 11am collection doesn't mean to say you are going to get one". and it takes a lot of searching to find you have to pay a £200 deposit.
