Now, not every solution needs to be created by the person who experiences the problem. However, curly, coily and wavy hair has such unique properties both collectively and individually. I received my Ruka hair and initially was really pleased. It felt thick and good quality, just what you might expect for the premium price tag. However a week following its installation the hair had become matted despite my attempts of caring for the hair. I have emailed the company twice now to complain and ask for a refund but
have received no reply. This really isn’t acceptable. I have requested a copy of the organisations complaints policy but have heard nothing.
This seems to be the only way of contacting this company. I have sent two further emails and returned the hair frontal and wefts that had become matted . It so rude and unprofessional to ignore my complaint. It’s so frustrating that the only response you get is through this site.
I really wanted to love your product but on this occasion the quality was really poor.
I have received no acknowledgement of my emails or of the samples I returned. You need to do better.
Ruka have now responded to my complaint and the situation is now resolved. Thank you .

I had a wedding hair emergency. My hairdresser decided not to do my hair the week before the wedding and I needed help. My experience with Ruka really helped set me at ease. First, their website was easy to use, I was able to see what I was looking for: kinky straight clip ins. I had a few questions so emailed Ruka and immediately received a reply from Nneka. I made the journey to Selfridges to get the hair I wanted and Ebony was so lovely, helpful and accomodating. I bought the hair, found a new hairdresser and my hair looked so beautiful on the day. The clip ins were easy to use and style using heated tongs. The colour and texture matched my hair beautifully. Thank you, Ruka and the team for being amazing!

Got the french curl braiding hair to do my own boho goddess braids at home and I was nervous to do this style using synthetic hair but it doesn’t feel synthetic at all and does not knot as long as you reapply leave in conditioner every so often for slip!

ETA: 12th Sep 2023. I contacted Ruka and they went above and beyond to offer me either a replacement or store credit on return of the hair piece which I think was fair.

Wanted to share my experience of Ruka Hair and my purchase of the Think Kink Ponytail.
Okay pros:
The delivery was super super quick - very impressed. I ordered on Friday afternoon and it arrived Monday morning.
The hair is a great match for type 4 hair. I have 4C hair and it’s perfect.
The hair is great quality, so lusciously soft, the curls are BEAUTIFUL and I can tell it’s going to last me a really long time.
It washes really well and hardly sheds.
I also love that it’s a UK black owned hair brand. We really need more of these.
Cons:
The smell was horrific. I’m quite sensitive to smells, and thought for the price of the hair it wouldn’t have that horrible, chemical, factory smell. Unfortunately it did. It was so bad I was contemplating to send it back. But I had accidentally ripped the tag off, so decided to keep.
I’ve given it 3 shampoos and a deep condition, but it still has a lingering smell which I’m praying goes after time.
This isn’t that bad, but I thought the packaging could have been a little more elevated. It came in a crumpled white bag and it felt a tad cheap. I was expecting more as I know they’re stocked in Selfridges and of course their online branding is top tier. I’m aware they’re still in their infancy as a company, so I’m sure this will improve over time.
Apart from the cons, I would highly recommend Ruka Hair. If you’re after something that blends well with 4C hair, the Think Kink Ponytail is the one! ☺️

I was really reluctant to write this review as I wanted to like Ruka hair as a black business aswell as being stocked in Selfridges! The packaging was below average and the hair bundles when I first recieved them felt silky but really thin. It’s almost like dolly hair. I was soo disappointed, I’m not convinced this is human hair as by the second and third day it was just matted and tangled. I’ve tried all my good products on it . Not even olaplex can save these bundles . Such a waste of money and I’m sad I don’t have any thing positive to say.

I got the headband wig in the longest size and it is terrible. It’s makes you look like a clown and there’s no way of toning it down. I’ve used Ruka before and it was fine but this was a huge miss for me.

As a former retail manager I was pleasantly surprised at how incredible Ruka Customer service is. Despite the fact I returned both of my orders (because I’d mistakenly picked the wrong texture), the level of care and attention I received to help me pick the right texture to match my own was beyond and I never felt like they were trying to sell me something. They even gave me a voucher code to use towards a future order without any expiry on it, I mean name another hair extensions brand that cares that much about making sure the women they serve are happy, I’ll wait!
We are often the most critical of our own but every successful business out there had to start somewhere, and as a black women myself I will continue to support Ruka because I’ve experienced firsthand how much they actually do care and because we need more brand like them in the haircare space! Wishing you all the very best ladies, thank you for existing!

I was reluctant to leave this, but hey, we must improve & transparency is important.
The hair did not match. Started a return on the 7.6.2023. Had to wait 2 days for label to be emailed. Had to print label & pay 4 a £3.40 at Rymans.
I tried post office unable to print. N post office charge o.70p to print label.
This is a free return from Ruka!
Returned item on 7.6.23, Ruka mentions, customers must wait14 days for a refund. They have to inspect etc. 14 day has surpassed.
It is 3.7.2023, no communication from Ruka. No refund. I have raised a merchant dispute with my bank.
Do not buy, this company does not like to return your money
Update 3.7.2023 Ruka communicates an email for my refund. 4.7.2023 We have closure. Refund arrived

Guys, please give this hair a chance before leaving negative reviews; I was on the brink until I contacted customer services, and Sashawna gave me some excellent tips in terms of products( olive oil leave-in moisturiser and As I am conditioner) to use and it honestly worked. Treat the hair as if it's your own, not the typical body wave or water wave bundles you buy from other vendors; it is supposed to replicate your hair texture which is what is so unique about this hair. Please ask the advisor for the products to use it makes such a difference; I was sceptical at first, but now I'm definitely a fan of Ruka.

Bought the Think silk clip ins.
Absolutely love them! My hair is natural and sometimes I silk press it. The clip ins blended into my hair so naturally. They are easy to attach and they look good.
You get 8 pieces 2 of each (with 4 clips, 3 clips, 2clips and 1 clip). Didn't use them all but still made my hair look lovely and full.
Worth the money!!!
