My daughter is thoroughly enjoying this experience and looking forward to the expedition.

My son had a fantastic experience, especially learning new skills on the expedition and having fun with his friends. It allowed him to develop his leadership skills as well participate in multiple activities.

We were disappointed with some things on the practice expedition but were pleased that SoO took on board our feedback and made the 'real' expedition a very positive and enjoyable experience for my son and his group.

The DofE programmes offer great opportunity for learning and practicing time management and teamwork skills. Knowing personal strength and weakness through different challenges is absolutely essential and valuable to the life later on!

My daughter had a great experience in year 9 doing bronze award. The experience was great and field trip very fun. She really wants to do the gold award now.

Well organised DofE bronze expedition. Leader on actual expedition made it a great experience.
On the whole well organised, although we had an issue with a change of pick up time and unfortunately the email had gone into our junk so we did not see it. This was resolved with a phone call on the morning which was dealt with efficiently and politely. Encouragement was given to the children and praised when they were well organised boosting their confidence. Enjoyable experience on little sleep. Would have liked a report back from the school on individuals performance highlighting any guidance for improvement.

Thorough approach to the expeditions. They provide sufficient guidance to enable the kids to make their own judgement calls. My children felt they were personally responsible for all aspects which is exactly what we wanted.

I completed the two day Lowland Leader training (plus 2 hour online CPD) to prepare me for the Lowland Leader Assessment. The staff were very experienced and skilled in delivering bespoke training to the needs of the group. There were only four clients including myself, which meant learning could be differentiated to our varied needs and we all made significant progress. The days were tiring - cognitively challenging as much as needing a high degree of physical fitness, especially if the person leading decides to push it up Saintbury Hill - I'm unlikely to forget that! Also low light navigation was really exciting - not often you can say that about a training day. It helps if you love the outdoors, but if you are taking this course then you probably do.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Lowland Leader course I completed with School of Outdoors. Dom and Kat made everything straightforward and the feedback was very constructive. Looking forward to preparing for the assessment now!
I deliver DofE Training for School of Outdoors and attend their Fantastic and well organised CPD training events. It’s incredibly encouraging to see a committed, talented and enthusiastic company investing in up-skilling its trainers. If you are seeking Freelance work I highly recommend School of Outdoors ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recently attended a CPD session with School of outdoors . The CPD was thoroughly organised and very informative . I was pleasantly surprised how warm and welcoming everyone was. It was a refreshing day. I hate CPD as I get very anxious about meeting new people but this was relaxed. I met lovely people and the sessions were really interesting. I’m using some of the ideas in my D of E lesson this Friday . Thank you to Dom and his team
Just attended an excellent CPD day run by School of Outdoors. The team as always, were friendly, knowledgeable and organised. There was a excellent session of alternative ways of teaching navigation, delivered by an external trainer - Nigel Williams, and I will be incorporating many of his suggestions into my own training practice. The other two workshops were thought-provoking and very relevant to freelance instructors.
School of Outdoors invest a lot of time into their team of freelance instructors and this is evidenced in the great experiences offered to the young people who attend events. I thoroughly recommend them both as an employer and as an AAP to schools and other organizations working with young people.
