Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 53 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Many customers consistently praise the professionalism and efficiency of the staff, noting that the crews are on time, work hard, and handle belongings with great care. Reviewers frequently highlight the excellent communication throughout the process, with staff being readily available to answer questions and keep them informed. The service is often described as smooth, efficient, and well-organized, making international moves feel less stressful for many. Some customers also appreciate the transparent pricing, noting instances where the final cost was less than the initial estimate. However, some customers were dissatisfied with unexpected price increases and hidden fees after their items were picked up. There are also reports of poor communication, ignored calls, and significant delays in delivery times, which caused considerable inconvenience and additional expenses for some. A few other people also felt that the movers were not cautious with their belongings, resulting in damage, and that the customer service became unresponsive once their items were in transit.

Absolutely terrible.

Absolutely terrible.

Used them to move a single pallet of household goods.

The subcontractor they used for collection no called no showed multiple times.

When they did collect it was to hand load it into a pick up truck, uncovered in the rain.

During its voyage my pallet apparently expanded in size and I was forced to pay additional fees. The bill of lading provided by the ships log confirmed my measurements but Schumacher insists it was 127 cubic feet, not 90.

As one can imagine an international relocation is stressful enough without all of your worldly belongings being held hostage.

beware of hidden costs

I wish I read the reviews earlier. Be warned, you may get a competitive quote but in the end you will pay far more!!!
I am in a process of shipping my old motorcycle from US to UK and today I have been notified its due to come in a few days but there are further charges to unload the motorcycle and clear with customs. It didn't surprise me as having lived in the US for 5 years, I am used to hidden costs. But what did surprise me is the amount! So, the handling of the bike on the US side, storing it, loading it, strapping it, protecting it and then delivering it to the UK cost me $745. I may have missed their notice on the original quote (which is not on the invoice I’ve paid) that unloading was not included and here I assumed I'd get a call, they would roll my bike out of the container, wave my ToR letter at customs (allowing me to bring it on tax/duty free) and ride away home with nothing or something symbolic to pay. But no, apparently getting my bike out of the container cost…. (ready?)… just a modest £295. Daylight robbery I’d say. Oh wait, there is also a port congestion fee £50 and even an x-ray fee of £35. Anyone knows what’s that about?
In other words, it was bad enough to find out there were extra costs, but £380 ($482)?!!!
I don’t know may be I am expected too much from the customer services but if I knew that my customer had to pay almost the same fee at the other end. I would not just say unloading is not included but would actually say, be aware that you will be presented with another invoice almost as much I am charging you now.
Believe me I would not bother shipping 14 year old bike if I knew the full cost involved and they well knew when we were discussing the quote on a number of occasion that I was trying to decide whether it would be a worthwhile.
Now, one would hope it actually gets here ok and without any damage. In fact I may be shooting myself in a foot here, god knows what they gonna do it after reading yet another happy customer’s review.

The usual movers crooks.

The usual movers crooks.. quoted a price for an international move, US to Europe. Conducted a survey of the house goods and confirmed the price. Once they had the furniture and boxes loaded the price went up 20%… When the container reached destination, another 500 EU because the local partner had not figured out that the street was too narrow.
Mr Bob Lonek, the salesman that quoted and then jacked up the price.
Stay away!

Poor Schumacher service

Poor Schumacher service! My continer was hold at the port for more than a month until I had to pay an additional cost of $175 due to demurrage (as they claimed) and emailed me to apologize for the delay because of their poor arrangement.

Poor customer service, never reply and follow up the status, even you sent them couple of emails and calls. but when they asked for payment or confirmation, only give you a day or two to settle otherwise they claim to charge another additional cost for late payment or storage whatsoever. Totally a scam!

Don't use this company.

Worst ever

Worst ever. They get a 1.6 on here, but a 4.5 on their own site where they pick only the best reviews - they don’t allow you to write a review on there. Scam from beginning. CEO, Martin Baker, has zero people skills and is not a man of his word. I’m missing irreplaceable items that they’ve made no attempt to find out where they are. Totally unbelievable.

SCAM COMPANY!!

SCAM COMPANY!!! Do not trust!!! Paid £3000 to ship my car over from US to U.K. and at first it was a good experience! Then the chaos started, they moved my delivery date 2 times and on top of that they changed the port at the last minute!!

THEN I was told that I would have to pay an additional £700 for U.K. handling and customs clearance which was never discussed at any point during my phone conversations or via email until the car actually arrived at port!

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!

Unscrupulous business practices.

Unfortunately, my UK moving firm engaged this firm for delivery of my goods in the US. After my goods had been delivered and i had paid for the exclusions indicated on my quote, they hit me with additional charges. Very unresponsive to my requests for explanation. Would not recognize the quote I had been given.

DO NOT USE SCHUMACHER TO SHIP YOUR CAR

DO NOT USE SCHUMACHER TO SHIP YOUR CAR! They bait and switch. I booked with Schumacher to ship my 2021 C8 Corvette from Virginia to Belgium. I was told there would be a 2-4 week consolidation period and then my car would ship. They sent a third party transport to pick my car up on 17 October and I flew to Belgium on 18 October. I had no communication from Schumacher letting me know my car had shown up at their yard at all. Their website is horrible and they don't update it. My car said it was pending pickup at my house for over a month after they had it picked up. I emailed and called Schumacher several times and the story was always "We are waiting on one more car to complete the container. If you want to pay more we can ship it now." I had already paid them $4000 so I wasn't looking to pay them any more. I am at 8 weeks now and I was just informed my car is booked on a ship sailing on 29 January 2024. It will have been 4 months when I get my car and I am sure there will be additional fees on this side. Just for reference, I shipped another car on the same day, 17 October, with a US government contracted company (IAL) and that car showed up on 28 November.

Never ever again !

The worst logistics company, I have seriously dealt with in 50 years of business.
In August, I purchased a car from Bonhams auction at Pebble Beach, which I needed to transport home to New Zealand.
Promoting and offering this service on site, was Warren Barnes [VP] from Schumacher, who quoted me US$1k to LA then US$3k to NZ.
He said I had nothing to worry about, just leave it all to him, which I thought at the time was great.
After that I had real difficulty getting a hold of him, he didn't answer his phone to calls or texts, to the point, I thought he had given me the wrong no.

Then we received an invoice for US$5K - I replied to Warren and informed him what he had quoted, [$4k] his response to this being, it was an accounting error, and passed a US$1K credit, we then paid the agreed US$4K in full immediately.

After that, there was no updates or communication, until I had a motor bike and 5 x tires, I wanted to also come to NZ.
when I eventually got a hold of him" I asked if he could arrange collection of these, which were in a store in LA, where our car was also in their storage awaiting shipment.

This clearly proved to be just too hard for him; from that point, he just didn't answer his phone or emails and actually said " He forgets texts " It appeared obvious, that he really wasn't that interested, and it didn't look like our car was going to be shipped anytime soon.

I thus asked whether, he would prefer us to make alternative arrangements, to ship our car and goods, which he agreed, he would prefer and in fact, said he was "Super Happy" for us to do so, this was on October the 3rd.
We then arranged for another shipper to collect the car and in turn, asked for our US$3k Back.
On October the 5th, WB advised he had processed the refund.
On October the 16th, as we had not seen the funds returned, we enquired, as to when we could expect them.
He replied with, "refunds normally take a month " to process and we should see it around the 4th of November.
On October the 27th our accounts lady enquired as to progress on the above.
We in turn received a reply, stating it was now in the hands of their payables, "but it wasn't due until November the 4th."
Further if it didn't make the list for payment on Friday, it would be the following Friday.

This email was tagged with "that they were also deducting US$300.00 for handling!

The money US$2,700.00, after their [ not agreed] deduction finally arrived in our bank account this morning, the 8th of November.

As per my heading, never again would we deal with this company and or its VP, a very difficult, unpleasant and challenging experience.

USA to UK Shipment

We shipped household items from Florida to the UK. It took longer than expected which I understand is due to container shortage issues post Covid. However, items arrived undamaged.

House hold removal

My household goods took very long to arrive. I was never explained the time frame and it kept on being delayed. I did not take insurance as previously I had shipped the same goods to USA from UK without insurance and they arrived on time and without any problems. Even I paid half the charge compared to this time.Once you are committed you are helpless. I would not recommend this company to anybody.

Working with them since 2003

Working with them since 2003, I can say that all you read here on trust pilot is the truth

Really disappointed. After a 20 year experience from LA, the service turned bad abd bad.

Lack of respect and communication.

despite emails sent to the Manager, no response from them. They are only interested in selling, after that it gets too complicated.

Motorcycle from US to Ireland

I shipped my motorcycle from the US (Utah) to Dublin Ireland through this company and it was a mess from the very beginning.

We had discussed potential dates but they did not clearly communicate when the bike would be picked up or who would be contacting me. I received a call from a private driver who could not even tell me the company name that I was going through. He was asking about picking up the bike on a day that was not previously discussed.

Once the bike was actually picked up, it took them almost 6 months to get it to Ireland when they had initially estimated 4-6 weeks. During the time, there was no pro active communication and I kept getting the same generic answer when I reached out to ask for an updated timeline.

Upon receiving it, I had to pay an additional 500 Euro for the receiving company to pick it up and bring it to a warehouse. I had been told originally that the cost that I paid to them covered everything.

The left handlebar was also slightly bent (I assume from it being strapped down so hard) but I did not notice this until after we had taken the bike off of the property (we trailered it off). This meant that I had to replace it myself.

All around a horrible experience and I would suggest using another company as it is clear that Schumacher does not care about providing a quality service to their customers.

US to UK

We used Schumacher for our move from the US to the UK. The shipment did take much longer than expected (we were quoted around 3 months, and it took 7), but I was so thrilled with the condition of everything when it arrived. Not a scratch on anything, no weird smell from all that time at sea. It was exactly how we left it, and that's the most you can hope for with moving, I feel. The actual delivery crew were really kind and speedy as well.

If I could put -100 stars I would

If I could put -100 stars I would! I paid a fortune to move from NY to Italy, 2 full extra size containers. Many items lost and never arrived in Italy, rare paintings, photographs, Murano glass chandeliers, an antique very large Venetian mirror boxed with no protection and broken to pieces (not even written fragile outside the wooden box), paintings framed with glass stuffed together in the same box without protection and of course broken to pieces. Antique chairs without the seating and much more.
I’m crying so hard from the loss, (around 50,000 damage). None is answering and none responsible, just ignoring or blaming someone else.
I’m going to report it to police as many items are unique, listed and certified.
They are thieves and I beg you to never, ever use them!!!
