Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 53 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Many customers consistently praise the professionalism and efficiency of the staff, noting that the crews are on time, work hard, and handle belongings with great care. Reviewers frequently highlight the excellent communication throughout the process, with staff being readily available to answer questions and keep them informed. The service is often described as smooth, efficient, and well-organized, making international moves feel less stressful for many. Some customers also appreciate the transparent pricing, noting instances where the final cost was less than the initial estimate. However, some customers were dissatisfied with unexpected price increases and hidden fees after their items were picked up. There are also reports of poor communication, ignored calls, and significant delays in delivery times, which caused considerable inconvenience and additional expenses for some. A few other people also felt that the movers were not cautious with their belongings, resulting in damage, and that the customer service became unresponsive once their items were in transit.

Schumacher drops the ball to gain a contract

Schumacher told me that it would take between two and four months for my household goods to arrive in Spain so, knowing that I would not be moving to Spain for two months, and upon the recommendation of the Schumacher agent, I went ahead with the shipment (he was aware that I would not be in country for two months). The shipment arrived in three weeks, causing a myriad of problems because I had not yet been able to get the required documentation, which could only be done in person. I ended up having to fly to Spain just to obtain those documents (I was unable to actually move at that time), then I got hit with a 1,150 euro customs/late fee, then Schumacher's affiliate in Spain, AGS-Global Solutions, charged me 632 euros to store my 1/3 of a container for one month. Schumacher made weak excuses about container availabilities, but the bottom line is that my shipment did not arrive anywhere near within the window of time they gave me. Schumacher offered me 15 days of free storage in Spain, which AGS did not honor, and took no further responsibility, not even to help offset the customs fees. I do NOT recommend this company.

Buyer Beware!

Good communication, but a premium price for mediocre service. When two boxes were dropped from the back of the truck in front of me, and even the mover said I should file a claim with Schumacher as they broke the items, Schumacher's response was "it is not covered". I find this ridiculous, you should not require insurance to cover negligence, especially when it is not an offered package! So buyer beware, unless the ship sinks at see, the insurance you purchase is essentially useless.

Good communication, items undamaged, no complaints

I moved from London, UK to the Washington, D.C. area and hired a British moving company that contracted out the cargo and US bit to Schumacher. I needed to move 9 medium-sized boxes (mostly clothes, books, kitchen tools and cookware, electronics), one computer monitor (in its original packaging), and one garden chair; everything was packed by me except for the chair, which was packed by the moving company. About three weeks after my things were picked up, the moving company informed me that they were loaded onto the vessel and gave me the details, including the contact details for Schumacher. One week later I heard from the Schumacher contact to confirm the final address and contact details. I got regular automated tracking details via email, and could track the status online. To be honest, I cannot say I had any expectations of when my things would arrive, especially since the vessel was due to arrive at the port around Christmas day. I had to pay an additional chassis fee of about $60 "as advised by the overseas shipping agent" (this did not surprise me as I vaguely remembered possible additional fees on the arrival end). Once my items had cleared US Customs, I got a phone call for arranging a delivery date. My items arrived on the date (about 2.5 months after they were picked up) and undamaged; I was even worried about how I packed my things in the boxes because there were openings for holding the boxes, but my items were completely fine. So, no complaints.

DO NOT USE - UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY

I am writing this review to warn others of Schumacher Cargo Logistics and to share my experience.

To give you some background and a timeline of events I have detailed these below:
• March 23 – My consignment left the United Kingdom and was informed by my shipper (Britannia Bearsbys) that my consignment could take between 30 to 40 days to arrive in the US, however, could take longer due to necessary checks to obtain customs clearance.
• April 7 – Consignment arrives in the United States, exactly 15 days after leaving the United Kingdom and way ahead of expected delivery times.
• April 18 – Receive a phone call from Ivan Monroy @ Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc. advising that my consignment had cleared customs and was ready to be delivered. However, Ivan explained that he was not able to identify any available trucks to deliver this week so would need to schedule deliver for the following. Which I was fine with, on the condition that I would not be charged.
• April 25 – Consignment arrives at destination address on time.
• April 26 – Identified that the agency hired by Schumacher Cargo Logistics that was unpacking the consignment and moving to allocated rooms in the house had appeared to have cut themselves and left blood on the velvet headboard and carpet. The amount of blood left on my belongings was the size of a clenched fist so clearly noticeable and whomever cut themselves would have clearly known. This was left with any attempt to clean up and rather dangerous to my family. The same reckless agent also caused damage whilst unpacking to 4 other items.
• July 28 – Received invoice from Ivan Monroy (Invoice# 240390) which includes 3 days of storage and port congestion fees. Contacted Ivan Monroy by email questioning that the delay in finding an available truck to deliver my goods has caused me to incur these additional fees. This was an error on Schumacher Cargo Logistics side which was confirmed as an error however I was still liable for their failing. I was informed by Ivan that I should contact the origin agent, which I did, and they sent me straight back to Schumacher since it was not their invoice.
• July 29 – Spoke to Ivan Monroy over the phone, and he had advised that my questions about my invoice have been forwarded to their ‘Payments and Collections Team’ and that the fees incurred were because of not be able to secure a truck in time.
• July 29 – In total I have sent in the region of ~30 emails and multiple calls. Schumacher Cargo Logistics does not answer the phone and neither do they return your call when you leave a voice mail. Responses by email will be sent to multiple Schumacher Cargo Logistics employees with no one taking responsibility.
• September 27 – I get added to an email exchange about a completely different customer (BOSE Krishna #IOD26110) where Schumacher Cargo Logistics shared confidential information relating to another client. I emailed back the same day making all parties away that I had been copied into the email incorrectly, and any confidential information received has been deleted. I did not receive any acknowledgement and concerned me for my own personal information in their possession.
• December 5 – Today, I received notice from Pamela Elliott @ Schumacher Cargo Logistics that I now need to put my questions in writing where management will now review! Not sure why it has taken Pamela almost 5 months to tell me this which rather infuriated me since at the bottom of every invoice it states “If you have any questions please contact us at 562-408-6677 or by email at xxxxxxxx” which I have been doing consistently since July this year! Letter was sent to Senior Management the same day outlining the above points.
• January 27 - Schumacher Cargo Logistics request invoice to be paid and ignoring the fact that I had been asked to put my complaint in writing. Schumacher Cargo Logistics confirmed they had not received the letter or had not record. Another letter sent to Senior Management @ Schumacher Cargo Logistics but doubtful of any reply.

In summary:

• I think it is fair for any recipient of any invoice to simply ask questions of what they have been billed for.
• Schumacher Cargo Logistics do not answer the phone and have no care towards their customers.
• They hire reckless agents to unpack furniture and that cause further damage to your belongings.
• The 1.5 Star review on Trust Pilot clearly shows how good of a company they are!

I have now begun legal proceedings against the damages incurred my this company, and have also reported to FIDI.

Horrible company

Just a repeat of others’ experience. Our English shipping company subcontracted with Schumacher for the American leg of our international move. They sent us their “pre-alert” notice days after our container arrived in NYC, required us to resubmit forms we’d already submitted months before while still in England, and are now “requiring” we pay nearly $600 in holding fees in order to complete the rest of the delivery — for their negligence. We never signed a contract with them so are requesting the English shipping company intervene. I will happily amend this review if we are able to resolve this and get our household goods delivered (we are already more than 2 months past the original estimate).

I wish I had of seen all these terrible…

I wish I had of seen all these terrible reviews before I chose Schumacher. TERRIBLE company with lies after lies. As i write this I am over 3 months since my household left my home in USA. Kimberely lied twice now that it was on Ship, including Mark. Of course its on the boat because thats when you have to pay. Oh I cant forget that I was diligent at documenting my boxes to keep track of my cu ft. They TRIED to claim my shipment was 105 cu ft more than I even had. That is $2,300 mistake. What saved me as i documented each box and size. They told me twice now my stuff was on the boat only to find out it was another excuse. From Shipment postphoned, to customs took my container off the boat. It shouldnt be on boat without customs inspecting to ok loading!!!!
Now 2 months after customs inspection they are wanting $764 for customs fee. No mention of this prior to Jan 4th 2023
They gave tracking info which shows vessel arriving Dec 21st yet no sign of goods transferred to warehouse in Australia.
Schumacher writes today asking for $764 customs fee and states the shipment left USA December 29th.
At this point I dont know which lie to believe because its an on going saga. I still have no goods, 3 months without a bed.
I would NEVER recommend Schumacher !!!!!! It is ongoing.
I never seen these reviews on Schumacher when i was in USA
But now that im in Australia wow shocking reviews everywhere on Schumacher.
I am yet to see whats left of my goods and whats taken at this point. Like I told company in Australia " I could be declaring something that is no longer in my shipment". I was told nothing about what customs was searching or if there was even a problem. Yet Kimberely sent a picture of a searched customs box that made me quite concerned that someone had tried to send drugs within my shipment. When I told her that is not my box.....she replied thats a picture from 2015. SMH.

Avoid them! 0 stars!

I wish I could be constructive. All I can do is advise anyone who considers this company to avoid it.
Don't buy the lofty sales language when they fish for your business. Like their advice not to make down payments. Or how all expenses are included.
No sooner had a company picked up the goods or Schumacher claimed that the volume was substantially more. No way to verify.
My experience was horrible; it took 5 months to receive my goods. Damages were obviously due to rough handling of pieces marked fragile.
I believe the only reason I finally received the goods and I did not have to pay any additional fees was the fact that I immediately filed complaints with AG and BBB, etc. I got very lucky; damages amounted to no more than the deductible I selected.

If I could give them 0 stars I would

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Items lost, that they said they had no record of…even though they were the ones recording the items ( I had photographic evidence of missing item) Luckily Vanlines found it in their warehouse (not labeled or packed)
They told me it would take 6 weeks or so, it arrived 6months later ( when I couldn’t get back to NZ to check anything) Finally returned home to a broken chair, so badly packed I don’t know why they bothered.
Rude, unhelpful, and incompetent..stay away from them

Stay away from Schumacher Cargo…

Stay away from Schumacher Cargo Logistics! Absolutely horrified by the arrogance of the company. The cargo came late, damaged, they demanded fees even if I did not hire them - it was by a moving company I paid everything in advance. The communication is poor and the service is even worse. They don't care about clients.

Worst customer service ever

As others have said, terrible experience. My shipment sat in the port in NY (is sitting in the port in NY) for weeks, and then they charge you for that (even though you have no control over it), and won't release your shipment until you sell a kidney to them. their policies are challenging to understand externally, you provide them with info they ask, and they say it's not enough. I've paid them a ridiculous fee and they continue to hold my goods hostage. No wonder shipping industry is so backed up. Their team insulted me along the way as well.

Awful

Awful. Terrible communication. I'm still waiting for my shipment since they picked it up in June. They never get back to you with accurate information. My shipment is still in the US. The person who is handling this shipment doesn't keep me up to date. She will say she's finding out the status of the shipment then never get back to me. The original instructions for customs were incomplete at best. Very unhelpful in interpreting all the documentation you need.
Would never use them again.

Fraudulent company. Horrible service.

Horrible company. Liars. Hired them for a huge amount of money to relocate overseas. I was crystal clear about the dates that we needed the container to be delivered to our new home, and scheduled a pack / move date accordingly (7 weeks in advance). I was told that our container would be loaded on a ship leaving the same week that it was packed. Subsequently was lied to repeatedly about the status of the shipment. It is now the date that the container was supposed to be delivered overseas and it is STILL in the USA. I also, in my own research, discovered that a ship did in fact leave within 7-10 days of them packing my container, but they failed to get the container on it. They also lied when they wrote to me that the container was loaded end of July, yet online official tracking shows the container was not loaded until the end of August. We incurred expenses to live elsewhere after our house was packed, and now are having to purchase a number of things. At this point, the container will not even arrive until sometime in October - well outside of the time frames we were promised. Company refuses to do anything about this or even admit that they lied and failed to do what was promised and contracted for.

How I am going to start this🤔

How I am going to start this🤔? If I have to advice people about this company, I will say RUN! RUN! as fast as you can😳. I am not the type of person that will discredited for the pleasure, certainly not but this is what it is ! This company should be close, I have ship my car, to leave from the US to Europe because was the time where corona was high and my son was getting through hard time to learn he was 5 years old, all the school was online class. So this was not an option for me my son need help with his issues . So I decided to move back to my country for him to be able to go to school physically. Anyway, I choose Schumacher Cargo Logistics, because I trusted them for the job since this is what they do apparently. But that was the worse decision that I have done in my entire life! My car arrive on 25 Mai 2021, and I still don't have my car and we are August 25 2022. They have lay the job to a custom agent that to handle all the paper work. Unfortunately this guy spend his time doing everything excepte taking care of my car to be release from the customs. The customers service is terrible! They have block my phone number, and they said I am not anymore welcome to the company. Why? Well because I want to know what is going on with my car and why the agent promise me that next week my car will be release since 1 year and 3 month, my car is sitting where they stock cars. Which they are probably thinking I am going to pay the stay of my car. I hope for those who read this can help you to make better choice for yourself to ship your car. I should have put no star but this is the option for me to write a review. Thank you to have read me🙏🏽

Very bad customer service and communication

Our shipment docked in New York 5 weeks ago. The container has still not been offloaded and delivery has been dragged out for weeks now. There is still no indication of when we will receive our goods. Information provided by our agent has either been incorrect or unsatisfactory.
In the meantime we are expected to pay demurrage /storage fees for the inefficiency of your operation.

Zero is more like it

Zero is more like it. Beware. Do NOT use this company, you will regret it and so will your bank account. Their tactic is Bait and Switch. Here are things to look out for: underestimated quote of your things so that you have to send a second shipping at a higher rate, boxes packed with non fragile items and tons of paper to occupy space on a container, they won't take/, record your moving address on any documents until after your things have been taken away so that they can add extra charges for your exact location, the worst customer service ever regardless of how nice you are to them. A 13k quite for a move from NJ to Italy has turned into a 21k move so far and now we are being told we have to pay more to get out things from the truck to our home. Let's see if we even get our things. I will update this review when we receive our goods and pay the last bit. Do NOT use Schumacher Cargo Logistics. They have taken all of our savings and then some. It would have been better to sell our things and start over. Our find a legitimate company with positive reviews. I wish I checked the reviews before booking with them. We are sick to our stomachs over this.

Life is too short to hire a company…

Life is too short to hire a company that is too busy for you

Paid in full for my move from Ireland to USA end-January. Promised 16 weeks or less and it took almost 6 months (1/23/21-7/13/22). I was lied to by my contact as to the cargo ship’s arrival for over a month. Pointed that out to him, since I knew about Ship Trackers and could see ship’s arrival date and current location. After my contact parted ways with the company, I wasn’t assigned to anyone else. I received and invoice for customs fees on April 27th and received an email stating paid in full on May 3rd. After that, they forgot about me and my 3 cubic meters of belonging in their NJ warehouse for a month and a half (April 27-June 8) until “I” started enquiring in June. Their customer service is abominable, and they’re only doing email so you will hear from them at the end of the work day, if at all. When I finally did make contact, there was an acknowledgement of a technical glitch, but no desire to make things right or expedite the delivery. From that point, it was over a month until my belongings were delivered to me by two guys in a U-Haul who were too cheap to unlock the hand truck on the truck and used mine instead. The boxes were crushed and there were 4 incidences of breakage. 2 cases of wine that were to be crated were soaked, handed to me on their sides and 1 box had soaked 5 other boxes after 3 bottles ended up uncorked only 1 cork was present in the box. The next day I received an invoice for $350 for relay charges, since it was easier for the company to hire out the tail end of my delivery and charge me than to complete it themselves as contracted. FYI…$350 is their flat-rate relay charge and they will not tell you where the relay activity occurred. I’ve contacted and emailed with a manager and the VP of the company, and no one has bothered to respond on a telephone. I did get an email response from a manager stating an inaccurate timeline. After my replying with the accurate timeline and photos of the crushed boxes 10 days ago, I’m still waiting for a response from either Manager or VP. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

I am still dealing with them now

I am still dealing with them now. I wish I had found these reviews ahead of time. I used them because a friend had shipped his car over to Germany in 2016, and it seemed to have worked well. I am moving to Spain, had 1/2 my house packed and stored until my house had sold. Now they just packed and loaded the rest of it. I was quoted around $19,000 total, plus an extra $2000 once I needed an additional pick up in San Diego. So far so good. Once the container was packed and stored, waiting for the remaining items, I receved daily invoices of $449 for putting the container somewhere, and $449 monthly to actually store it. I was not aware of that, and tried to figure out where that charge came from. Jennifer literally yelled at me, short of calling me stupid, and re-sending her initial quotes and telling me I was wrong and I should have known all this. Like I ship stuff to Europe on a daily basis.... this is quite an overwhelming process, and she had no empathy or even professional bedside manners. Plain rude and unpleasant, right after I had paid almost $20,000. After that I heard nothing more. After the second pick up 2 months later, I am contacted by Nathan. He was professional and kind until the load was packed by them and picked up. After that, no answer to 3 emails and attempts of phone calls (his voice mail box is full...). No status on whether the stuff has shipped or will any time soon. I get that the ports are busy and overloaded, but he cannot answer my emails? So unprofessional. When I called the main number, I tried to tell why I am calling, the lady interrupted me mid sentence and yells at me who my representative is. I told her it was Nathan, but that I could not get through to him. Then she settled down a bit and was nicer, took my number and was actually also let a supervisor know. Well, let's wait and see. I am definitely over this, but my things have not even left the US yet.

Extra charges left and right and the only communication was to tell us everything benefits when they want to deliver it. Worst customer service and lack of respect for customers.

We were overcharged by the company without option for the delivery other than to "get it delivered in a Walmart parking lot" with them stating they could not gain access to our property with their truck, when this was not true there was over 200 ft of space. The truck that showed up was very large and it was not a "shuttle truck" but despite being very large the truck had plenty of space to park and unload. Per our contract the service should have included access and unwrapping but the delivery personnel did not unwrap the items or dispose of packing materials per our contract. All communication from them favors the company in terms of delivery and not the customer in every way. It felt like extortion and I would not use them again. Overcharged by 20% waited 7 months for delivery.

Please don't use this company

In March 2022 we hired Schumacher Cargo Logistic company to relocate from USA to Spain. As part of a relocation from the USA to Spain, we requested and accepted a quotation from Schumacher to transport our household goods and Vehicle from the USA to Spain in a sole 40ft container.

While the container was in transit, it came to our attention, via the receiving logistics company, that our Vehicle was not present on the packing list or bill of lading. The receiving company (contracted by Schumacher directly) or ourselves were unable to get hold of anybody at Schumacher to provide support for the missing property. After multiple attempts via phone and email, we finally got someone in their operations team to acknowledge that there was an issue in their operations department and that the vehicle was not shipped with the rest of our household goods as quoted and paid for in the contract.

We then have to chase Schumacher multiple times, trying to get hold of them by phone, email, etc. every attempt to communicate with them failed. After 3 weeks someone finally replied and let us know that our car is still in the warehouse in the USA, we have been waiting for the car 5 months already.

We have then requested Schumacher to refund us for the money that we paid to ship the car and release the car, as we don't want to use them to ship the car to Spain anymore. They refused to do so, so the only option we have is to ship the car with them and probably face the same lack of communication and extremely poor service.

No organization, extra fees, stay away

My agent in London subcontracted Schumacher for the US part of my international move. As soon as they received the shipment, they sent new charges, made pay shuttle service truck while not necessary. Very slow, it took them 2 months and 12 days to deliver my shipment from Newark to Chicago. No organization, they give a delivery window of 3 days not even with one week notice. Then got called on Saturday at 5 pm, to tell me delivery will be Sunday from 8:30 am. This is not a good company, stay away.
